I then saw Dr. Jones, who said she could remove the bump right then and there, and they could send it for a biopsy just in case. The procedure was quick and painless! The bump is gone and the scar is barely noticeable. One thing I really liked about this place was that they said the consultation fee would be applied to any procedure I had done. Other places charged a similar consultation fee but would not count it towards the procedure. On top of that, the total cost was significantly less than quotes I received from other offices -- I probably paid half of what I would've paid at the other places I called. Most importantly, I was seen by Dr. Jones, who is an MD. Other places want you to consult with their PA first. Needless to say I'll be coming here for all my skincare needs going forward. I do appreciate that he took the time to listen, and the conversation itself was positive. Shortly after, my prescription was finally processed, and I received it on 5/1/26. It was also refilled for future use, which I'm thankful for. However, it took nearly two months to straighten everything out before I was finally able to receive my prescription. However, the overall experience still leaves me genuinely concerned. It took me being unusually persistent and more forceful than I'm comfortable with just to get a response from the office, pharmacy, and insurance. That shouldn't be necessary for a patient trying to manage their healthcare. More importantly, this situation caused me a great deal of stress and anxiety and has negatively impacted my health. I already deal with high blood pressure, and this experience elevated it further, which is both troubling and unacceptable when seeking medical care. At this time, I'm giving a 3-star rating in recognition of the effort Dr. Tomasian made to personally address the situation. I may update this after future visits. I sincerely hope his office improves how they handle patient communication and follow-through so that no other patient has to go through a similar experience.

Deb (Debbie/Deborah) at the front desk was so patient and kind when I called to say I'm lost and can't find the building. She stayed on the phone with me and patiently guided me how to get to the correct building. (totally my own fault, I struggle with my navigator. The building is simple to find if you just follow directions. I arrived late and stressed, but she was kind and understanding. Dr. Chu was very kind, explained his recommendations and let me ask any questions I wanted to. His assistant Hannah was also very nice. A week after my biopsy Hannah called to give me my results and asked if I had any questions. I'm glad my results were favorable. Either way I was going to leave a 5 star rating.

Unfortunately, my previous dermatologist did not accept the new insurance. I found Sand Dermatology on Yelp and read through the reviews before deciding to call and schedule an appointment. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. The office was bright and modern, the waiting room was spacious, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. After being shown to the examination room, I waited only a short time before Dr. Pham came in. She introduced herself and asked how she could help me. I explained my concerns, and she performed a thorough upper-body skin examination. Dr. Pham not only addressed all of my concerns, but she also noticed a few things that I hadn't even been aware of. I left the office feeling very pleased and confident that she genuinely cared about my well-being, even though it was my first visit with her. While I liked my previous dermatologist and would have continued seeing him, I often felt that some of my concerns were not taken as seriously especially after going there for well over a decade. With Dr. Pham, every concern was acknowledged immediately and addressed thoroughly. If you're looking for a new dermatologist, I highly recommend asking for Dr. Pham at Sand Dermatology. I mentioned possible recent sun exposure, and the nurse appropriately advised that we should wait for safety reasons. However, I was then told this would be considered a cancellation and that I would either forfeit my session or pay a $50 fee to keep it. That is completely unreasonable. Procedures that are unsafe should be treated as safety-related postponements, not standard cancellations. The situation escalated when the manager, Sarah M, got involved. She was immediately defensive, dismissive, and blamed me, claiming pre-appointment instructions are sent with each appointment reminder (see screenshot, they were not). She also said it's listed in the policy that if we can't do the procedure due to safety it's a cancellation (I have a saved PDF from today's date that does not say this). Instead of resolving the issue professionally, she was confrontational, unprofessional, and inconsistent with the information I was given. What was most concerning was that when I asked to reschedule safely or discuss options, she responded with "so you want me to do it then?", implying a willingness to proceed despite the known safety concern. That is extremely alarming. This is not how a reputable practice operates. Patients should never feel penalized for declining treatment due to safety concerns, and it should never be suggested to proceed under such circumstances. Due to the safety concerns and unprofessional conduct, I will be reporting this business to the appropriate regulatory boards, including the Medical Board of California, the California Board of Registered Nursing, and the Department of Consumer Affairs. Don't bother leaving voicemails as no one will call you back. I had a cyst removed by Dr. Abaza who put me on antibiotics for 1 month (Should not be taken for more than 14 days). I'll take partial blame as I should be my own advocate for my health. Because of this medical negligence I am now on a long road of recovery as my gut biome is completely destroyed due to being on antibiotics for so long. After my medical procedure the doctor leaves the room and gives me no after-care instructions. The receptionist/ medical assistant maybe (??) then finishes cleaning me up and tells me I am good to go. As I am walking to my car the receptionist ran out to give me a sheet of paper with instructions on how to care for my incision. 2 weeks later my stitches were removed where the same receptionist removed my stitches, and not the doctor. She picked off a scab that was healing which led to me bleeding out. I was then sent home and was not given a follow-up appointment to ensure it was healing properly. 2 weeks later my incision gets infected and I call in to request an appointment only to never be called back again. I do not recommend this office to anyone!
