Every three months is when I get my haircut and Shear Synergy Salon is where I like to go but specifically to Anita. Lovely Anita who does the most amazing head massage while she shampoos you that makes your toes curl while sending you into a slight orbital coma onto another galaxy and into another time. Situated in the east side of the Dragon City Mall in the heart of pulsating Chinatown, Shear Synergy Salon is the place I go to get beautified. I usually will whet my haircut time with a dim sun lunch at the Regency Restaurant and then top it off with a delicious bubble tea. Shear Synergy is so conveniently situated too, I simply have to take the number 3 bus a block from my home and I land smack dab in front of the Dragon City Mall. My haircut lasts usually anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes for a mere 30 dollars and I believe Shear Synergy has 3 stylists to choose from, I am a loyal client however to Anita who simply understands Asian hair, when leaving other hair salons in the past I am usually very dissatisfied with my haircut simply because they don't understand the properties of Asian hair and its temperament and I usually end up walking away looking like my uncle. But Anita does it just right, she's hip to popular Japanese hairdos and has a knack for the anime. So if you want a stylish trim or an all out make-over try Shear Synergy Salon.

I have tried 3 of their hairdressers and they're all very good and professional. My current hairdresser is Jessica and I recommend her! She's very talented. Easy to get along with. Good vibes. I'm always satisfied with her job.

So, I settled for a bang trim. I was surprised at the youthfulness of the stylists at Lava. All the ladies seemed to be so hip and trendy, it was kind of intimidating, but very refreshing at the same time. I would say that each person in the place was very professional and I would trust them to give me a funky, up-to-date hair style since each of them had extremely nice hair! That's what I want from a stylist. Since they didn't offer waxing, which was why I went in, one of the girls was nice enough to find a business card of a nearby place who did do waxing. She actually spent a few minutes trying to find a good place for me. I really appreciated that! Lava Hair sells a bunch of hair products too, mostly Kerastase stuff. They had every kind of product available, including instant hair repair! The set-up of the products was very professional, as was the whole design of the place. I felt that I was in an up-scale salon, but without the super high prices. I'll consider going back to Lava next time I'm in need of a good cut and colour. I liked the people, the atmosphere and the prices!

I appreciate that they remember my dogs name (noodles) even after bringing him in once! He's like my child so that added attention means a lot to me and makes me feel welcomed. They added a new service where you fill out a page that asks whether you feel like chatting with your stylist or whether you want to take the time to zone out. Also which additional treatment you'd like to include in your visit (you get to choose from some relaxing options like a hand massage, scalp massage, etc.). It feels like you're in a luxurious spa! My stylist is Annah who is an absolute doll and one of the best stylist I've ever had, hands down! She's incredibly talented and one of the senior stylist in the salon (so well deserved)! During every appointment, she'll sit down with you and do a little diagnostic of your hair -- asking if you'd like to change the look, keep the same style, add a little pizzaz, etc. I'm the kind of person that can't put to words the look I'm aiming for by Annah knows EXACTLY what I want, EVERY SINGLE TIME. I told her the other day I wanted to look sexy, Victoria Secretish, long layers by with a little bit of spice and she did just that! She's so knowledgeable in letting you know what hair style will work best with the shape of your face and lifestyle. Annah is warm, friendly, and really cares about making you feel comfortable. Her passion for hair shows through like a bright sparkly star in the sky which is a privilege to experience. She's always actively learning different techniques as a stylist and color expert which is one of the many reasons why I trust her in anything she recommends. She's also an AMAZING teacher and will answer any of your hair questions during your appointment like how to curl your hair using a flat iron. Once I asked her "how can I style my hair without using heat?" and BOOM she taught me a trick on how to curl my hair without curlers that rocked my world! WOOT!!! She's awesome! If you're looking for your new home to make your hair look fabulous, hands down this is the place to be! 5 star service, 5 star cuts/color, 5 start hair stylist. Thank you Annah for being so gracious, caring, and accommodating in every way!!!
