My first of three eyebrow waxing sessions. Looks fantastic and I feel like a brand new woman! My inner ASMR is loving this place!

I came across Jade & Myrrh Aesthetics (Studio #11) on Livingsocial and took a chance on buying three eyebrow waxing sessions without even going through just one session with Owner Brandi Haugabook first. I'm so glad I took the risk, whew! Jade & Myrrh Aesthetics (Studio #11) is located inside Sola Salon Studios on The Shops on Lake Avenue in Pasadena. They are right next to Mattress Firm and right across from Ross. Her establishment is beautiful, clean and very zen. If you're the Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) type like me, you'll love it here! Parking: You can park in The Shops on Lake Avenue and walk over to Sola Salon Studios. Booking: Online, very easy! If you have a Livingsocial or Groupon, just note it in comments when booking your appointment. You will still need to put down your credit card to reserve your spot though, or you can call her directly. Brandi was a pleasure to work with! She's sweet, charming and easy to talk to. My first (of three) 30mins eyebrow waxing session was fun, relaxing and blissful. Once Brandi had me lied down and turned on some spa music, she gave me a hand-held mirror to hold onto, and quickly cleansed my eyebrows before mapping them out. Afterwards, she had me hold up the mirror while explaining to me where my eyebrows should start, end and where the arches should be. It was cool learning this since I never had it done before and my eyebrows passed with flying colors, yay! I'm pretty good at maintaining them (tweezing away the stray hairs underneath my eyebrows and trying to stay within the shape of them). However, when it comes to waxing and trimming, I leave that to the pros. Brandi complimented me that I did a great job with maintaining them. She then worked her magic with the cleaning them up. I loved that she's meticulous and gentle, especially, when applying the wax and stripping them off. It didn't hurt at all and I also loved that she explained to me the steps along the way as well as letting me check out her work first before proceeding with the final waxing. Afterwards, she brushed my eyebrows and trimmed them up neatly. She also repeated the process of letting me look at it first before trimming the other eyebrow. Once she was done, I loved my new eyebrows! I felt like a brand new woman afterwards too! Restroom: Women's restroom is located at the end of the hallway on your left. No code is needed. It's spacious, clean and nicely stocked. Overall, I was very pleased with my first session and looking forward to becoming a loyal patron after my next two sessions are done. I highly recommend her and she also does facials and other waxes too! Thanks again and see you later on, Brandi!

Do you use tools for extractions? Like the needle or blackhead remover?

No, tools used for extractions can cause damage to the dermis. However, various methods can be utilized (steam, enzymes, stimulates and massage) to encourage the pores to relax and release/purge congestion. Needles and lancets should not be used by… Read more

Been coming here for a while now, probably a few years and haven't had any problem with any staff…read moreuntil this time this last service really disappointed me and made me feel very uncomfortable. The girl who was supposed to do my waxing was already in a rush, rushing me when I got in there and was presenting with attitude. She had a bracelet on that kept rubbing my eyelid when she was working on my eyebrows, and I had verbalized to her in a nice manner originally, but she was having attitude already at me and basically being pretty rough when it comes to removing the wax. And then she missed a few spot and when I pointed out that she missed a spot, she was giving me attitude while telling me to lie down and then when I got back up after she was done and told me that she was done, she looked at me and was like what are you doing? I still need to put cream on you. And suddenly I feel gaslit because she was the one who told me to get up and then she followed that by asking if we have any problems because I am making her feel very uncomfortable here while giving me attitude. When really I haven't really verbalized anything and I have barely verbalized my concern about the eyelid and that's basically because her bracelet keeps touching my eyelid because it dingles down. The front desk lady have said that she tends to have attitude for whoever is last on her list and I find a very unfair that they book her as my cosmetologist if they know that that's the issue. If they're going to hire employees are representing their company I sure hope that they evaluate their personality and their customer service aspect because that is the most important when it comes to these kind of role and if they're not happy and don't wanna work here, they really shouldn't take additional clients or they shouldn't have the job here. As someone who works in a place of customer service, I always make sure that I don't bring my personal opinions or emotions in. This whole experience made me feel kind of uncomfortable and also feeling like I don't really want to come back and make an appointment with that person ever again. By the end of the session after she gave me the mirror I told her she had missed a few spot. I mean, there were clearly hair in those area, and she clearly was very upset by me pointing at things that I'm just merely pointing out at as anyone would and she is just showing her bad mood and the environment that didn't need that. And after this time, she was done, she not only did not let me check in the mirror. She also told me that I am good to go. I am very uncomfortable I am very disappointed with my experience and I don't wish that on anyone. When I finally got to my car, I noticed not only a few spots but many spot that she missed and I can't really even walk in because I'm kind of scared and worried to really deal with her and I honestly don't want her to ever service me ever again . And I hope that nobody becomes her victim because that is just some rough waxing services watching someone having a resting bitch face and attitude the whole time when really I just want to come here to be vulnerable and did nothing wrong.

I didn't have a bad experience, just an okay one. I got a Brazilian wax and it went great, it was…read moremy first time. The vibe was a little awkward though, since my servicer didn't really talk to me, but that could also be personal preference. I like when conversation happens because it makes me less nervous and has me feel less awkward. I also didn't like how to only way to really book another session for "cheap" was by buying a package and the packages were pretty pricey. You also had to pay almost in full if not half the package price when checking out if you opted for it. I also felt a little pressured into buying stuff from their little shop since my waxer was watching me and explaining everything to me and I felt awkward saying no. Again, just a personal thing, I'm a little awkward when it comes to that lol. I'm not going back, but just because I found a different place that had cheaper prices and a different vibe that fit what I was looking for.

After I moved away and tried other places, the difference was clear, long, painful sessions! When I moved back to Pasadena, returning to Jenny was a wonderful. Her technique is so precise and fast you're in and out before you know it, almost unbelievably quick and comfortable compared to anywhere else. She's also genuinely warm, down to earth, and easy to talk to. She makes you feel completely at ease from the moment you walk in. Every appointment feels like catching up with a kind friend rather than just getting waxed. Her personality is the perfect bonus to her exceptional skill. The studio is cute, clean, and super convenient with easy parking. After experiencing the alternatives, I can confidently say no one else compares.
