My water heater died! I contacted the insurance company that I pay premiums to and with whom Jacob's is contracted. I had a call within an hour of my request for service. When he came out to confirm that I needed a new tank, he sent the diagnosis to the company. I was on my way out of town and when I got home, I learned that the approval had not been received. I worked with the company and as soon as he had the approval required, Jake was here the next morning with a new tank and had it installed and heating water within less that 2 hours. The first plumbing Co my home warranty called spent 2 weeks changing the day and time of my appointment. Jacob's Plumbing and Heating responded to my request right away, and sent Manny to repair my very leaky faucet. Turned out that my faucet was broken not only on top but was leaking underneath as well. Manny left and quickly returned with a new faucet which he installed efficiently. There's a consistent pattern with this company, rude, unprofessional, and subpar service. After smelling gas from a wall furnace I contacted the Gas Company whose leak detector identified a leak and they turned off the gas. As part of my home warranty plan, Jacob's was assigned to do the work. They had originally installed the furnace just a few years prior and it took them weeks to make the installation. Fast forward to the new issue and the first time they came out I was told they didn't "smell" any gas! What the heck? Smell, how about using a detection device. When I returned a week later to the vacant property, the pilot was on and the gas smell had returned. I asked them to come back and correct the issue. When they arrived the second time the owner or whoever answers the phone said this time there was a slight hint of gas, but nothing to worry about. IT IS GAS, yes there is something to worry about. I then insisted that they make the necessary repairs. When I returned to the property a week or two later, the pilot was lit, there was no smell of gas, but the unit would not fully light when the thermostat was adjusted. It had worked just fine prior to contacting Jacob's. When I called to report the issue the guy suggested it may have been a tenant who caused the problem. The unit had been vacant for a couple of months and would remain so until I got the heater fixed. He insinuated I was a liar and that my story was changing. The only story that changed wqs his when he said he could get the defective part in a day or two and instead it took more than a week to get something I could get from Amazon in a day. Rather than fix the problem, he insisted I contact the warranty company again. With no other choice I did and they said I would be contacted by the company in 24-48 hours. One week later and several calls to American Home Shield(AHS) I was still waiting for the call. I finally learned from AHS that he would only speak to my property manager. How ridiculous! I pay for his service and my property manager. How does he determine who he will speak with? Five weeks from the date of the initial call, the furnace was finally fixed ... I think. I had Jacob's Plumbing assigned to me through AHS for a water heater replacement. I cannot recommend them because of being billed for things that were not replaced: " Flue modification...$ 145." The flue/vent is the same on the before and after photos taken. "T & P valve... $120." Bradford and White water heaters come with the T & P valve according to their website and the plumbing supply house in Arroyo Grande. When questioned about the bill Jacob said, " We don't make enough money on these from American Home Shield." I am out an extra $ 265. Bad bad. read more

If I could give this a zero start I would. He is extremely rude and unprofessional. Started yelling at me for no reason. Called me a liar and that I was making things up. He called me stating that he was at my property and no one was home. There was someone home but he or his worker was at the wrong address. He then proceeds to document that the appointment was canceled because no one was home. He was at the wrong address so logically no one would have been present. On October 27th, 2019, I had my home warranty American Home Shield send out Jacob's Plumbing and Heating to diagnose my Water Heater and to see why it wasn't producing enough Hot Water to bath in and to use to wash my dishes. Jacob came on October 31th, 2019 with his assistant and all they did was run their hands under the bathroom faucet and contradict everything I had to say concerning how the water heater was performing. I told Jacob that I had just bought the home a little over a year ago, and the water heater was almost 9 years old. I told him that we had hard water and that I had drained the water heater several times to get all the hard water white scale out of the tank and that we just got a water softener to help with that and he really didn't seem to care what I said. He just went on by saying that Orcutt, Ca has hard water and draining the tank doesn't help. He then went on to criticize how the water heater was installed and I stated that I can't help how it was installed, it was existing when I purchased my home. I also stated that the home inspector didn't see any problem with the Water Heater, he just warned me that the water heater was almost 9 years old and that they don't usually last more than ten years. But Jacob continued to be negative towards me by saying Home Inspectors are not trained. They usually only have taken a written test to get their certification to be a Home Inspector. I just ignored Jacobs comment and walked him out of my home. Jacob also told my home warranty that there wasn't anything wrong with the water heater, after I contacted the home warranty to see why there wasn't any word concerning when my water heater was going to be fixed. So, when I contacted American Home Shield, I told them how Jacob acted towards me and criticized everything I said, they went ahead and sent two Plumbing Contractors out to inspect why I wasn't getting any hot water. When they came out, they both totally disagreed with Jacob's plumbing and stated that my water heater needed to be replaced because it was too old and they're maybe a recall on the water heater! Overall, I wouldn't recommend Jacob's Plumbing and Heating, because of Jacob's negative attitude and he will possibly lie to you!! read more

In all fairness first time I used Jacobs Plumbing the service was above and beyond. I have recommended him to other in the past, but received luke warm feedback after the referral work was done that confused me. Now I understand why. In short I never want him on my property or anywhere near my house ever again. Yes I feel that strongly. The plumbing company is basically a one man operation, and sometimes he has an assistant. So why the one star, and why do I never want back. The second time I used Jacobs the service was well below standard, if done completely and correctly at all. He bad mouthed the National brand of faucets I had in my house, them made two major errors on the faucet install that should have never happed. His demeanor made my family uncomfortable during the call. He also kept item related to call that were not his to keep, and never asked if he could have them, not okay, period. I asked that they be returned and that topic was skipped on follow up communication. When I called him back to correct the install his demeanor and additive from the time he arrived I felt was 'get the heck out of my way' and 'how dare you question my work'. I would more accurately use adjectives that are prohibited on Yelp, so that's my cleaned up version. I'm glad my wife wasn't home on the recall visit as she would have been terrified. The way he behaved I just wanted him out of my as soon as possible, and was afraid to ask for my items he kept on previous visit that I had asked he return. I later had to redo work Jacobs Plumbing had done and found his work upon redoing to have been either not done or done incorrectly and not completed. Very disappointing given the cost. In my opinion it's a gamble on what type of service your going to get from Jacobs, but the attitude and service I got from his last two visits will keep me from ever calling him again, nor can I recommend him to anyone. I'll take the bet on trying someone else, my last two calls to plumbers were not to Jacobs. read more

Our heater went out and we had A company come and look at it. They diagnosed the problem and said it would cost $625 to fix. They woul have to order the parts and they would be back in 3 weeks to fix it. It has been cold so we called Jacob's for a second opinion. Jake came right out and had the heater working within a half hour No parts needed. He explained what he did and said if the heater stops working to give him a call back and we'll go from there. I was impressed with his knowledge of heaters. I would recommend Jacob's to anyone. Jacob's will be my first call from now on if I have heater problems. read more

On this past weekend, I put in a claim with American Home Shield and then I called Jacob's Plumbing and Heating on Monday morning about my claim for a leaking water heater. Jacob was at my home less than 2 hours later and said I definitely needed a new water heater. He called me early the next morning to let me know one of his people, Flavio, would be there on Wednesday at 9A to replace the heater. Flavio arrived at 8:55 and I had a new heater by 11 and hot water at noon. Both Jacob and Flavio were very friendly and easy to deal with. Thanks for the great job. read more

So, I don't usually do this very much. We have AHS as our insurance and Jacob's Plumbing is the company they use for service calls when needed for plumbing needs. We had a leak in our master bath - they sent a younger apprentice out to remedy the situation. He was kind and always had a smile. He had to crawl in the dirt, so he was pretty dirty from top to bottom - my bathroom floor was a disaster, mud everywhere baseboards, door and the vanity. We offered him tarps etc multiple times and he continued to come in and out of the house with dirty booties. He left said all was good. I start cleaning the floors and I go back into the bathroom and there is water everywhere under the vanity and to the side. I call the owner Jacob and he proceeds to tell me that it is normal for leakage up to 3 days and should get better every day. Kinda like take one aspirin and call me in the morning. I could not clean up the water fast enough and I called him back because now my whole floor was soaked underneath the laminate and he finally agreed to send his employee back. We had our neighbor which is a retired commercial plumber come over and he found the issue and we immediately turned the water back off. He agreed that he did not do the job correctly and quickly took care of the leak. Now our faucets have no pressure and they did before and the answer he gave us was to buy new faucets. read more

He said the repair would not be covered but would send a service repair request to the warranty company, he never did! He ended up telling them he completed the job when all he did was look at it without doing any kind of repair! Our house is about 16 years old and we pay a little extra to have a home warranty for both appliances and systems. Last week we lost water pressure mostly in our hot water. The home warranty company sent a technician from a plumbing company based in the LA area with a local rep here. We showed and explained our issues.to him; he told us he'd order a valve and pressure regulator, and that he had already placed the report on his smart phone. A couple days later I followed up with the warranty company about status only to be told that according to the technician's report, we don't qualify for coverage because we needed our home totally re-plumbed. We explained the tech didn't tell us that version and insisted we get a 2nd opinion. A different plumber was assigned...this time it was a locally based company and rhe owner came out yesterday (Jacob's Plumbing and Heating from Orcutt, CA). Jake asked a lot more questions and trusted our input. He had a totally different diagnosis and said our 17 year old water heater needed to be replaced. He was easy to communicate with. He sent an awesome technician to replace our water heater today and the problem is fixed! I found a local plumber I trust and had to share! read more

I highly recommend you to stay away from Jacob's Plumbing. The one man owner has the worst customer service experience and professional demeanor I've ever seen. The first thing he said when he came into my house was that his eye sight was bad, but not when a young girl walks past in a short mini-skirt! Who in the hell asked for that comment! Then, when his associate started working on one of my clogged drains, he belittles him right in front of me, telling him that he was trying to unclog the drain all wrong. Make note that his associate told me that he's been working for Jacob for four years. Go figure! Jacob took over and unclogged the first sink in my work order. When I took him to the master bedroom where our shower drain was clogged, he said his auger wouldn't fit. I told Jacob that I already measured both drains and the drain cover holes were the same size on both. Get this! He stares me down like he wants to fight me for about 15 seconds. He then walks back in the bathroom shower, looks at it, and says the drain covers were not the same size. I told him that I measured both drain holes with a measuring tape and they were both the same. He then starts talking shit about Home Shield, the company that he contracts with, and says that he doesn't get paid enough with them. He said his going rate is $110 an hr. and that he wasn't going to stay and fix the other drain because he couldn't take off the access plate to the drain. I explained to him that he didn't need to take off the plate since the holes were the same size as the kitchen drain he just unclogged. He then goes on this rampage about not getting paid enough through Home Shield, tells me I don't know what I'm talking about, why it's going to take longer than an hr. since the screws on the drain plate were stripped, and says that he was late for his next appointment. He then left without fixing the other drain. All I know is this guy wants the contract work from Home Shield, but doesn't want to take the time to do the work right. It only took him 30 minutes with fixing my drain before leaving. I believe he's trying to milk the time with Home shield since he was only getting paid $100 through the contract! I forgot to add that he almost left the first drain leaking (the sink pipes underneath) until I told him about it. read more
