My favorite little bar in the Valley. The beer is always cold and the drinks are strong.

Thrifty Scotsman Drive In ! - Big Papa Burger and Large Fries

Thrifty Scotsman Drive In !

Been years since I've visited. Took my friend for her birthday (she wanted simple). Very busy but…read moreattentive and friendly staff! Food was really great! I ordered a double cheeseburger, no pickles & onion in the side. I have a hard time biting/chewing (no bottom teeth). Thought I'd chop up the onion to add onto the burger, but was pleasantly surprised that it came chopped up! My friend ordered the Little Papa & loved it! You could actually see a generous amount of ham & bacon without having to open up the burger to search for it! We also shared a large order of onion rings. They were GREAT!!! Definitely one of the best burger joints in the valley with decent prices. You get more than your moneys worth here!

My husband decided to try this restaurant based on reviews. We got 2 double cheeseburgers and 2…read moredouble burgers. The service was decent in the drive thru. The fries were fair, nothing too special or awful. The burgers were not worth it! My husband assumed the burger would at least come with onions, or be asked. The burgers had ketchup and pickles. There was way too much ketchup for the burger, made the bread soggy. The burger itself was bland as toast, it needed seasoning! The burger needed salt and pepper, super underwhelming! My dog wasn't even impressed! This burger place was equivalent to Zip's, overpriced for mediocre food. I'm convinced Spokane doesn't have any decent burger places. I don't think anyone in Spokane knows what a decent or exceptional burger tastes like!

Just go. The good and service are great…read more I had the Caveman Scramble and it was very tasty.

I'm a bull of simple tastes and strong opinions. I graze where I live, and I take notice of who…read morefeeds the herd around here. Hangry's is in my pasture--my neck of the woods--and because of that, I want it to win. When Hangry's first opened, I remember lifting my head from the grass and thinking, Now that's something different. A small, independent burger stop with real personality. Not a franchise. Not a copy-and-paste joint. Real food, real effort, real care. Burgers with heft. Flavors with backbone. Portions that didn't insult a full-grown cow like myself. There was pride in the grill and warmth behind the counter. You could feel it. That's why this is hard to chew on. The food is still good. Let me be clear--I'm not saying it's bad. But the spark has dulled. The uniqueness that once set Hangry's apart has lost some of its flavor. The service doesn't carry the same energy it once did. There's a tension in the air now, a kind of hangry mood that doesn't come from hunger, but from strain. It feels less like a place excited to serve, and more like a place trying to survive. And that worries me. Because I don't want Hangry's to become just another Zip's. Another forgettable stop where burgers are churned out without soul. This place was never meant to be that. It was meant to be a friendly, fun, neighborhood joint--high quality, generous portions, bold flavor, and people who cared deeply about what they put on the plate and how they handed it across the counter. I know running a business is hard. Even a cow understands that. Starting strong is one thing; staying sharp is another. Motivation fades. Criticism piles up. The grind wears you down. But the answer isn't to lower the bar--it's to return to the basics. To remember who you were when you started. To cook like you still have something to prove. To serve like every customer matters, because they do. Hangry's doesn't need to reinvent itself. It needs to refocus. Quality first. Pride back in the process. Fresh eyes on the food. Confidence instead of survival mode. If that happens, this place won't just hang on--it will thrive. This bull is rooting for you. You're in my pasture, and I want you here for a long time. Get back to your roots, sharpen your edge, and remind us why we noticed you in the first place. This cow is all in.

The Order: General (burger) + Loaded Brisket Fries…read more First off... Online ordering... aka ScrollFest 2026... worked great, even if it felt like filling out a mortgage application. A heroic amount of options. I'm sure some folks love that level of control, but by the end I half-expected a personality test. On a phone? Absolutely unhinged. Desktop was survivable... barely. Pickup: Online said 30 minutes (6:23pm). Reality said "Nah, we're done already" at 6:09pm. Credit where it's due... glad I went down early so the food didn't turn into sad leftovers before I even met it. Presentation: Burger and fries looked good. No shame there. Instagram wouldn't have laughed at me. The General (Burger): Unfortunately... dry. Not send-it-back dry, but definitely "thank God for pickles" dry. The pickles did some real heavy lifting, adding the only noticeable zip. BBQ sauce and ranch were apparently present in spirit only... I saw a drip, but my taste buds never got the memo. Result: A decent burger. Not bad. Not memorable. Certainly not something I'd text a friend about like "BRO YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS." Loaded Brisket Fries: Flavor? Good. Sauce? Tasty. Execution? Eh. For $12, the portion felt a little "is this the appetizer?" The fries could've been warmer and better mixed... instead it was more like scavenger hunting for bites that had everything together. The deep-fried cheese curds were legit but borderline fork-vs-curd death match. That plastic fork never stood a chance. Outsides were pretty crusty... almost too committed to the crunch. Overall Verdict: Good food. Nothing offensive. Nothing that screams "come back often." If I'm nearby and hungry... sure. If I'm choosing a place intentionally... probably not. Final Score: 3.5 stars... rounding up to 4 because I believe in grace. Solid effort. Some wins. Some misses. No fireworks. Would eat again... but only if someone else picked the place and I didn't have to scroll for 10 minutes first Ambiance: N/A. Consumed at home where the lighting was good and the floor was not sticky.
