We ordered the pretzel sticks to start. They were hot and very good. The cheese sauce wasn't great. I got the turkey melt with Jojos (aka spicy fries) and it was really good. My husband got the steak and cheese and it was also surprisingly delicious. At one point we asked for ketchup and never got it. So, good food, not great service.

I asked if I could order food and the bartender being alone, thought for a second and then offered to handle it herself since the cook had gone home. I was poured a tall Rum and Dr. Pepper and then my burger was being cooked. I was worried it would be over cooked. But I was pleasantly surprised with exactly what I wanted, what i was in the mood for. The burger was fine, typical bar food, no issues with it and it wasnt overdone at all. The fries were my favorite, not fried too long, still a little soft in places, and looked like they had been cut in house. Think I'll hang out here for a little while longer. Drinks were a great value and the staff wasn't fast, but competent. It was called the Cum Inn back then. But Spokane is a bunch of tightass puritanical fools. So now, Green City Saloon. Whatever. Celebrating my wife's birthday. Had some friends join us. The Karaoke was the same KJ from way back. Good guy who's ear may be failing because the karaoke is mixed badly. Sad, really because he was so good at this. New ownership changed a few things. Updated POS, better staff, higher quality products. I'm good with that. Better hole, same wall. My wife ordered a vodka/soda/lime...tall. It came, she was delighted. Throughout the evening, she ordered 3 more. She was drunk, but not over the top. I was with her the entire evening. I know she had 4 drinks. As our evening wound down, I went to close out our tab with Susan, the bartender. A digital display flips, it shows a total subtotal and tip options. She had good service, so I tipped appropriately. Then it went to $75 and change. I figured maybe she bought a drink or two for our friends. I know drink prices went up a lot. Digital receipt was sent and I was blown away. Start at the charging for 7 drinks, not 4 AFTER I asked my wife. When asked why we were charged for 7, Susan stated "I'm not going to argue with you! You had seven!" Aggressive lying is the only thing that pisses me off more than regular lying. Susan is flatly a liar and professional thief. In addition. GCS is a corporate thief. Added to our charges were a $4.55 charge for karaoke. Charging CUSTOMERS for the Karaoke?!? WTF? A customer service fee of 3.99% ABOVE the tip. This percentage INCLUDES the tip, so it's just that much more aggressions. If I'm laying a customer service fee, why am I tipping as well? Transparency in this system is non-existent. They don't itemize the purchase before they swipe the card or before you sign. Simply prompt for a tip and a signature. Ideally, they'd get the benefit of the doubt. However, through the last couple years, we are not the only ones to whom this has happened. Their ONLY Saving grace was a next morning refund for three drinks. While it was appreciated that they made THAT part right, what they didn't correct spoke volumes. The refusal to apologize for the attempted thievery or shitty attitude from Susan. Simply stating it wasn't worth checking the tape from security cameras. If so, then they are suborning thievery. Literally supporting the thievery. This is unacceptable. This is an ongoing criminal conspiracy. Not because of one incident for us. But how many people, too inebriated to know better, simply sign off and don't know they are being scammed? Suffice it to say, we'll never attend this once-great, now-crappy little hole.

We ask if we can buy some cause we don't know what they are exactly but you can win some money. I'm assuming they're like scratchers? I don't know. So we ask, and he rudely says (while throwing his head around in emphasis) "no!" And we thought he was just being sarcastic so we laughed and he stared at us with disgust and I asked if he was kidding to which he replied with more head twirl and raise his eyebrows and said "no. I'm not doing that." I asked why and he says "it's 1-o-clock" I told him "I'm sorry I'm not really sure what that means. We're not from here. I've never been here before." He says " it's 1 o'clock. I'm not doing that." so I'm still confused and his attitude and tone are completely out of line. So I tried to explain to him again nicely, in different words. That I'm not really sure what the time has to do with it because we don't know what these are and we're just curious. He says "we close at two." It was like 1:02 at the time of this conversation. So I don't know, is it a law that we can't do these little ticket things after a certain time? Is it a hassle for him? I have no idea, but he was very rude, lacks proper communication, skills. Another couple that came in to pay their tab, also said that they were tired of his attitude. And a gentleman at around 12:50 asked to order some food and he started throwing out attitude saying "I'm not cooking for you!" The other guy said "you can just say that; you don't have to yell." I don't know when this bar stops serving food but as far as I can see if you request something other than a bag of chips after 12:45 you're not getting it. I went to pay my tab because I needed to excuse myself and I saw notes posted about cash and card prices being different. So I asked him what the difference was if I paid with cash and if I paid with Card. I'm with the same unbecoming attitude and his rubber neck, he replies, "one is more expensive and one is cheaper." Which I don't know if it's a parent to him that I can read the sign posted that states exactly that but I would also like to know what my total is and the varying prices and a little bit greater detail than less than that of the post sign. I finally got my total, paid, and stepped outside while the rest of my group finished their drinks because sitting at the bar, watching him make faces and talking in his disgusting tone was very irritating. There are also signs posted that a glassware is not allowed on the patio but when you step outside, there are at least 10 glass containers. At about 1:30 he completely disappeared. We were literally shouting for him- I stepped slightly behind the bar to call out closer to maybe where he'd be but he was nowhere to be found at all. We shouted for him for a good 12 minutes. No idea where the guy went... at 1:47 he finally popped up out of somewhere and said he heard us but didn't care to come back. I seriously do not know wth this guys deal is. I am actually so upset with this entire encounter. I genuinely have not had a worse experience. While it's not possible for me to be a regular here, if I was local I would absolutely never come back. He missed out on a tip and quite frankly ruined my first night in town.

I've been to the Woodshed a handful of times, and it's always fun. They have two pool tables, free popcorn, strong drinks, and karaoke. Get a group together and catch a ride out or grab a D.D. and go to this bar on Saturday for an evening of singing your favorite old country tunes. They of course have a larger karaoke selection than just country music, but being in this bar will make you want to sing "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks. I know this because my friends and I always sing it when we go. If you're looking for a new bar to check out that's off the beaten path, then look no further. Actually, keep on looking all the way into the Woodshed and on the ceiling where you can find the names of me and my friends. Grab a drink and add yours too.
