I went with my husband, we drove through. We ordered a frugal 1/2 lb burger with mushrooms and a 1/2 lb cheddar burger combo. The combo came with fries and a drink. The added mushrooms costed $2 more. The burgers were okay, nothing special. The frugal burger came with mayo, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, pickles, onions and added mushrooms. The cheddar burger had the same ingredients with the addition of bacon and cheddar. The fries were super salty! My husband who usually adds salt to fries, agreed with me. We didn't finish the fries. The to go cashier handed us our food and forgot our sodas. The cashier had an attitude, almost slamming the windows after handing us the bag. We had to wait for another person to come to the window. We wouldn't go back. The 2 burger combos were $31. The burgers were not worth $31. $31 for 2 burgers didn't feel frugal. Frugals is on the same level as Zip's, not very good and expensive. Went for a late lunch Sunday at around 2:30 pm. It was pretty busy when we got there, at first there was no seating but we were able to get seats before our food came out. The lady working was super kind and attentive too. We got the cheddar burger and frugal burger with a large fry. The burgers were delicious and came out fast. The fries were salty and delicious and extra hot as they are made fresh which I love! We got a few fry sauces to dip it in and it was good too. We wanted to get the huckleberry shake but they didn't have it so we decided for a vanilla shake. They also had a seasonal orange flavor which looked good. The shake was super creamy and thick, I would use a spoon for it next time. This place is delicious and affordable, definitely a must try when in the area! read more

I (Oliver) got rear ended on the way here so hopefully that will be improved. I ran into some old friends from high school and it was crazy. Weird guy paid for my food so watch out for him. My Diet Coke came out instantly and there was wayyyy too much. You can't make this up. Guy took temperature of one fry. What a joke! The service was very good though. Fries were hot and the burger. Was crazy so tasty and yummy and my belly was satiated. By fry 30 I was already feeling the effects. Also one of my fries was shaped like a penis... not pleased. Frugals, a delicious diner that holds 17 people just outside Gonzaga University district. Drove by this spot killing time before heading to Spokane airport and I had to stop. I mean; Frugals, that's my middle name after all . I entered this little gem and was immediately greeted by 3 staff members. We took a seat at the bar and looked at the wall menu. (Table top menu is out of date and pricing is inaccurate). We settled on 2 cheeseburger combos and an order of fried cheese curds. The burgers, fries, cokes and cheese curds came out with a quickness. The burger was hot, juicy, dripping with ketchup and mustard and delicious. The fries were piping hot and salted to perfection. The Coca Cola was ice cold and the cheese curds, well, those are simply amazing fried little chunks of gooey goodness. There are free refills in your fountain drinks, the diner is as clean as it could be. The staff is friendly and the cook is fast. This place has to be packed during the college school year. I will stop here again if ever in the Gonzaga area for sure. It's a can't miss delicious diner spot. read more

The cheese curds were perfectly crispy and gooey, the fries were hot and well-seasoned, and the milkshake was rich, creamy, and super satisfying. My boyfriend had a burger, fries, and a vanilla milkshake, and he loved his meal just as much. He said the burger was one of the best he's had in a while! Always solid burgers, but where they really excel is with the shakes. I visited Frugals in Spokane and the Elderberry Shake was fantastic just as the counter person recommended. French fries always on point. Thin, crisp, not overly greasy. I didn't even realize frugals went that far away from the greater Seattle area. I also don't love their tipping option for drive thru, especially when they forget my food and I have to drive back to get it.... I should learn that I need to thorough check before I leave but sigh... didn't think it'd happen two days in a row... also, staff never smile at the drive thru at least.
