TLDR: This was a super unique experience we wanted to try given we're in Wyoming, and it exceeded all of our expectations. Shepard was our private instructor and he was the best coach we could have asked for. If you have 3 hours on a given day and have an adventurous side, this is a must try while you're here! ------ WHAT WAS IT: * We did a three hour private experience and that included the instructor, the firearms, the ammunition, the targets, and everything else relevant to the experience * We went to the Jackson Hole Gun Club and someone was out there waiting for us to arrive -- it felt very personalized * Immediately we were handed our protective ear and eyewear and were taught about safety while at the club * There were two of us and we each took turns shooting different targets with each gun. We got to experience a whole range of different types of guns and calibers ------ WHAT WE THOUGHT: * It felt like a super personalized experience and the most important thing was that even though we were newbies, we felt completely comfortable and well taken care of by our instructor * We never felt rushed by our instructor, and we thought 3 hours was actually the perfect amount of time to be out there trying different things for two people * We were also given some memorabilia (keychains, mugs) that I thought was a nice touch to this unique experience ------ WHO WE WORKED WITH: * Shepard was our coach and he was phenomenal * He made us feel super comfortable, taught us everything from the ground up efficiently, and answered all of our questions so knowledgeably. This was a dream for my son and I had surprised him with this experience. We were a family of four and my daughter had no experience with guns while my son and husband were more experienced. We were fortunate enough to have Scott as our coach, who was very knowledgeable, patient, friendly and engaging. We were able to shoot a range of rifles, pistols and dessert menu items (machine guns and 50 BMG) . My son chose most of the firearms, but we all loved everything we shot and had a great time. As a mother, my main concern was safety and Scott was very diligent about explaining the safety for each firearm and what to expect. Scott was also helpful with his shooting tips and pointers especially because we had different levels of experience. I think he really made the difference and both of my kids couldn't say enough nice things about Scott. For the general experience, I think if you have more than two people in your group it becomes more cost friendly. The dessert menu items were additional, but ended up being a lot of fun and a great way to end the 3 hour experience. I also want to mention that the communication was really easy booking this experience with everyone being so nice with my many follow up questions. The amount of guns, ammo and firepower is like nothing I have ever seen. What made the experience most worthwhile was Tyler Walton, our instructor. TLDR: The Jackson Shooting experience is a must do while visiting Jackson When my husband and I arrived in Jackson we knew we wanted to shoot guns, as it was recommended to us by a friend who had visited a month prior. We are both from the suburbs and had zero to minimal shooting experience. We initially had some miscommunications with our hotel and were almost not able to partake in this experience. Luckily Lynn (guest care guru and owner) worked really hard and pulled some strings to make it happen for us! Wow, are we happy she worked something out. When we arrived at the gun club we were welcomed out front by our coach Momo. Now let me tell you, Momos enthusiasm for the sport and her positive and upbeat attitude alone made our day. Momo made us feel comfortable immediately and helped us learn how to be safe while having fun. A modified rifle station was setup for us with a paper target for pistols and metal targets placed on the range from 100-600 yards! After shooting pistols Tony even stepped in and helped coach my husband on the rifles - so we each got one on one instruction and got to shoot even more within our timeframe. Lucky us!! Thanks to the excellent teaching skills by Momo and Tony, both my husband and I were able to hit the targets at 300, 400, 500, and 600 yards away! To top it off, we hit the 600 yard marker simultaneously and my husband got to shoot the Bushmaster 0.5 BMG. Overall we highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Jackson hole 10/10. When we come back we will absolutely be returning to the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience. read more

I took my youngest son here for his 16th birthday and we had an absolute blast. Jay was an amazing instructor. Very easy going, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Even though we own a good number of firearms ourselves, Jay taught us a ton of useful information to make us better marksmen. Jay of course started us off with an important safety briefing which never hurts to hear again. A+++ experience all the way around. The desert menu at the end of your shoot is a must. I cannot say enough good things!! We booked and subsequently had to change our date. Everything from arranging the date to rescheduling it was easy and customer oriented. We got to the range where Tony greeted us immediately, and from that minute on, he was completely attentive to us and the experience we were having. He is a wealth of knowledge about every gun we picked up, and we always felt safe and confident. The backdrop of the mountain and trees is such a stunning place to hang out and shoot, and there is also a warming room and a heater on the range, if you're like me and worried about being too cold. This was worth every penny spent, and we would spend it again if (when) we return to Jackson Hole. Despite my boyfriend winning a speed shooting challenge, it is still the highlight of our trip. tl;dr. Momo and Tyler were awesome in introducing my kids to firearms in a safe and fun environment. Use provided directions or Google Maps for "Jackson Hole Gun Club" (should be off 89, next to Landfill). After arriving 1.5 hours late because of faulty GPS directions that had me driving through dirt roads, I was greeted by Momo and Tyler who were so warm and welcoming. We're a family of 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 7 to 12) with only Dad having minimal firearm experience. Momo and Tyler focused on safety first which I appreciated greatly and they did it in a way that kept the kids engaged. We went through about 8 guns and handguns, but I'm sure we could have gone through more, but we were tired after nearly three hours. Momo and Tyler were so amazing with the kids. They were patient and shared the excitement of each "plink" when the bullet hit the target. When problems arose, they were calm and encouraging never letting the kids feel demoralized. They weren't "miserly" with the ammo either! I can't speak highly enough of Momo and Tyler. I've had a lot of "customized" adventures throughout the world, and Momo and Tyler were the best "guides" ever. Facilities have a myriad of rifles and handguns and I saw a few people shooting 50 cal rounds, shotguns, exotic guns, etc. We shot targets up to 600 yards away, but I'm sure there are targets further out. Cold water and light snacks were provided. Two port-a-potties for now, but they're building a restroom facility at the moment. Ample parking. Overall, an awesome experience when visiting Jackson! read more

First and foremost I want to express how amazing our instructor Scott was. Family of 5, kids are 15, 14 and 11. None had ever even seen or held a gun, never mind fired one. The 3 hour session was incredibly educational and we felt incredibly safe from start to finish. We were taught how to safely handle, aim and fire a wide variety of guns- from handguns to long range rifles with scopes. All 5 of us successfully hit a small target at 500 yards, testament to the quality of the instruction. Very informative discussions about ballistics and all the factors you need to account for when shooting long range- adjusting for wind, distance, gravity etc. I cannot say enough positive things about this experience and our instructor Scott. We went to the archery experience this morning. What a great time, what great instruction! Our group had six kids ranging in age from 5 to 10 and four adults. Everybody had personalized instruction on archery, blow gun, throwing knives, and the fan favorite "tomahawk throwing" which was quite an experience for the young ones. As most of our party were novices, the instructors were very patient and helpful when it came to the education and safety of the kids. We all had a great time! read more

Lucky us! My wife lined up our two sons aged 21 and 23 and me with instructor Tony at the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience for an afternoon session of coaching, training , and firing a wide range of hand guns and rifles, starting with .22 cal and working our way up to .50 cal big bore. Tony is a very knowledgeable, very enthusiastic, and very patient coach, who doesn't miss a thing. His safety focus is impressive and he kept us enthralled for our 3 hours on the range. Starting with basic target practice and working our way up to 600 yard proficiency under his guidance was impressive and gave us some really good foundational knowledge to take home with us. I'm 25, I went with my parents and 3 younger sisters (23, 20, and 17) and I can tell you that this was an exciting, and unforgettable family-fun experience. I took a self-defense class here in July and thought it was fantastic -- Shepard, the instructor, was very skilled in the material but also a great teacher. The right balance of patience with keeping the pace of the class up to cover a lot in a relatively short amount of time (3ish hours). He brought water, sunscreen, etc to ensure comfort, started early, and customized well as he went. Would definitely recommend it, and will definitely go back for more! read more

Something on my bucket list...and also for 50 different celebrations during my 50th birthday year. I've always wanted to learn from a professional how to shoot a gun. My husband was a little hesitant about going but Shepard made the experience a memorable one. My husband LOVED the experience of shooting a glock pistol and I LOVED shooting the 1911 pistol. I booked a 3 hour shooting experience for my whole family and it was the highlight of our trip. I was a little concerned because none of my family except myself has ever fired a gun before, but Tim Burton our instructor was awesome. In addition to my wife and I, my 14-year-old daughter 13-year-old son and eight-year-old son all had an awesome time. Tim adjusted the experience to put a heavy emphasis on safety and adjusted it to our needs. Tim's instruction was excellent, clear and patient for both my youngest son as well as my older children. Could not have been more pleased with our overall experience of the 3-hour pistol and rifle package. What a great experience! We were a group of four, ages 49, 48, 18 and 17. The young girls had never shot any guns. We were instructed by Shepard, who was kind, easy-going and a gentle teacher. We got to shoot so many kinds of guns from .22 rifles and handguns to military high-calibur rifles. Safety was always at the forefront, and Shepard's knowledge and good humor made learning fun.
