We had Jackson Catering cater our wedding reception and they were amazing from the get-go! The coordinators, Julie and Danica, were quick to respond to questions and so, so patient! I was trying to juggle multiple things as I planned this reception, so I asked them question after question after question. Sometimes they had already answered the question, but they were always so nice in their response--and quick, too! The food? I had so many compliments on the food! One of my guests--a well-traveled man in his sixties--told me, "I've eaten at more the 200 buffets and this is the best I've ever been to." I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu but a few highlights from ours: * Cast Iron Crisp Chicken, Lemon Buerre Blanc * Carved Angus Tri-Tip, Horseradish Cream * Gnocchi, Light Pesto Cream Sauce Parmesan & Fresh Herbs * Chicken Pot Sticker, Chili Plum Dipping Sauce * Smoked Beef Brisket Slider, Swiss Cheese, Herbed Aioli Caramelized Onion The service? Top-notch all the way. I'll provide an example: A server approached two of my guests offering them a potsticker appetizer. My guests asked if they could have the sliders. The server went back and retrieved the sliders. She then asked my guests if they wanted more. They did, so she went back and got the tray of sliders for them! That's a lot of back and forth amid a crowded room, but the server made it seem like it was no effort at all. I remember when my husband and I went to do our tasting at Jackson. From the beginning of our interactions Danica and Julie were amazing. They both answered any and all of our questions during our inital phone call and were super accommodating during our first tasting and final tasting. They are very communicative and replied to emails within the day. I personally have a gluten allergy and they were able to make me a separate dish to accommodate my dietary needs for the big day. Out of an absolutely all-star vendor list at my wedding, Jackson Catering seriously blew me away. They fed us two tasting menus of some of the best food I've eaten and even let me take home leftovers to my husband who couldn't make it. The day of the wedding and for days after, my friends and family came up to me (including other vendors) to tell me how good the appetizers and food were (especially the Monte Cristo bites I had 4). Their staff was incredibly friendly, professional and HELPFUL - one staff even helped me get bugs out of the layers or my dress 4 separate times. I didn't want to cook Thanksgiving dinner this year and was looking for a place to order a complete meal. I decided to go with a friend's recommendation and give this place a try. My order was easily placed online. At pick up, I was greeted by friendly staff who helped bring my large order to the car. The food was packaged well and already looked delicious; it was hard to not dig into it early. I appreciated the reheating directions and everything warmed up perfectly accordingly. As for the taste, amazing! The turkey was flavorful and juicy. Crisp green bean casserole, moist stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes. I'm normally not of fan of sweet potatoes, I really enjoyed the sweet potato gratin as well. The amount of food was ample too. We are a family of eight so I ordered the large meal to serve 8-10 people. We enjoyed leftovers today (the day after Thanksgiving) and there's still plenty for tomorrow as well. The meal did cost more than what I could have spent for a prepared meal from a grocery store, but it was worth every penny. Good Planning Terrible Execution We opted for Jackson Catering based on positive reviews from the catering list, and despite our initial optimism, it turned out to be a regrettable decision. Initially, everything seemed promising. Danica exhibited excellent communication skills, promptly responding to inquiries. The complimentary tasting was a helpful touch, and they were accommodating when I requested a change to one of the dish recipes. Unfortunately, the turning point was the event day itself. The execution was the worst I have witnessed, and it undeniably left a negative impression on our guests. The late arrival of the appetizers and drinks during the cocktail hour not only disrupted the schedule but also created unnecessary stress and anxiety during what should have been a joyous occasion. Furthermore, the quality of the food fell far below the standards we were promised during our initial tastings. The taste, presentation, and overall execution of the appetizers (samosas & wontons), chicken tikka masala and naan were all severely lacking, leaving a lasting negative impression on our guests. This experience has not only tarnished our guests ' experience on a day we had eagerly awaited but has also cast a shadow on the reputation of your company. We expected nothing short of exceptional service, especially given the premium we paid for your catering services. Regrettably, what we received was anything but. We booked Jackson Catering for our wedding back in 2019. Unfortunately, COVID happened and we had to postpone. They were flexible and willing to let us carry over our date to the new wedding date. We were able to do a tasting of a variety of food choices before making a selection. I am very grateful for that. Many vendors have you pick before you taste the food, and for me the taste and presentation of the food was VERY important. They also provided the linen rental and the silverware/dishes/cups were all included. They had a great choice of colors as far as the napkin colors and we were able to pick one that matched our wedding colors. They did all the set up and break down as it pertained to the buffet and dishes. They provided a bartender and staff to serve the food. They served us (wedding couple) the food directly, which was nice. They also set aside some food for us in boxes to eat the next day, before they served it buffet style. The food taste was delicious! All my guests were talking about how tasty the food was. There was plenty of food and we did not run out of anything. Some of my guests even asked for to go boxes but unfortunately due to food safety rules, they are unable to allow the guests to take food with them. The staff was very professional and courteous. Working with Jackson Catering was a breeze! Their office manager and coordinator Danica was so sweet ever since the moment we met her at our sample tasting. She was responsive and always provided ample information and answered our many questions with ease. Their business and their processes are very organized which made it easy for us to trust them with catering for our big day. Richard was also super efficient, and he was even present during our walkthrough at the venue. My husband and I are huge foodies so it was really important for us to provide really delicious food at our reception, and Jackson Catering did not disappoint. Several of our guests complimented the food so we knew it was a hit! I did hear a few comments about how waters were not refilled, and I noticed that the groom and myself didn't get refills either, and I desperately needed it! Thankfully our friends are so sweet and would run to the beverage table to get waters for us. I am not sure if water service was included or not since we did have a separate water dispenser but it would be nice to request that for those making future bookings! Unfortunately we didn't get our "to-go" meals at the end as indicated on our contract, but they quickly responded when I inquired about it the next day. Since there was such little food leftover, they were unable to send any food home with us. If this is important for you, I would recommend when booking to request to have something packed for your to-go meals first, so that there is food reserved for you before the guests grab seconds and thirds. After having no success with some other caterers, we chose Jackson Catering for our recent wedding. Our deal with them nearly fell through as I was disappointed in the discount offered to us for providing our own marinated chicken and prime rib from our favorite butcher shop, Swingle Meat company. Chris, the owner and I were able to work out a deal and we proceeded to have them cater our event for about 150 adults including full bar service. Danica did a great job answering our questions, handling our concerns and setting up our tastings. Some areas of disappointment and frustration for us were we were never told that our day of coordinator switched back to our original coordinator. I found out two days before our wedding when I dropped off the meat. I was also disappointed when multiple guests complained that they could not make Bloody Mary's because they did not have tomato juice. I was assured by our coordinator Cory that all mixers were included. The food was pretty good overall, however they overcooked our chicken. We were offered to be served or go through the buffet line. We opted to be served, however we were never asked what we would like. Needless to say, I didn't eat most of my plate because it was not what I wanted. They also did not save any of the appetizers for us. We know that every event is different, but their liquor estimate was rather poor. We ended up with over 60% of our wine left over and it was not cheap. We would have ran out of tequila quickly had I not bought far more than their estimate called for. I don't hold any animosity for this as every group is different. Lastly, they ran out of water towards the end of the evening and began to scoop water out of the ice bucket by hand. Having worked in the restaurant industry for over twenty years, this made me question their overall cleanliness and sanitation. It grossed out our guests and I and pissed me off. It is over and done now and we had a blast at our wedding as did our guests. However we would not recommend Jackson to anyone and we are disappointed in the service we received. read more

This little corner of a strip mall on Fulton Ave. has housed many resturants over the years. A review in a neighborhood paper of a new place sent us here to try it out. On a weekday lunch service, there was just one table of four occupied when we walked in. The decor is nice. Some tasteful drapes and screens toned down the light from the windows. The service is attentive. We tried the burger (1/2 lb; bacon; carmalized onions; blue cheese) and the pulled BBQ pork sandwich. For $9,95, the burger is a very good value. All those toppings and it comes with either fries or salad. The pulled pork is the same price and comes with potato salad and cole slaw. It is a lot of food. However, we think there is just too much going with so many flavors. It's hard to tell what the burger really tasted like. The pulled pork sandwich was no slouch on the size department. The pork had been tossed in BBQ sauce, which was on the sweet side. If that's how you like it, then you're golden. I thought it was a little too sweet and I tend to like sauce on the side. Again, so I can taste the meat. Also, the edges of the pork pieces were a little dried. The potato salad was fair. The cole slaw's vinegar dressing was helpful in cutting the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. The lunch specials of the day were a reuben sandwich, meatloaf, and salmon with gnocchi. With the big lunches, there was no room for dessert. I think it would be nice to post the desserts, so one can plan ahead! It's good to see another place try to make it a go here. We looked at a couple caters and Jackson had by far the best food for the best value. Danica was great. We had a hold up with the bar situation with our venue and she went above and beyond to work out a solution with the venue to provide us the bar we wanted. Our wedding was about 3 weeks ago. Surely enough, they were willing to work with us even with the short amount of time. I spoke with Danica initially and she was super helpful and very kind on the phone. They had a great selection of food and took our ideas into consideration, in regards to what food we wanted. The food is AMAZING by the way. Delicious! The staff was very kind and helpful. They always made sure everyone at the wedding was fed and had their drinks. Their bar service was awesome as well. The bartender (I forgot her name) was very nice. The whole staff was just wonderful. They even took the time to pet our 3 dogs :). I was not feeling confident on preparing a prime rib for the first time on Christmas and risking messing it up, so I ordered a small prime rib and scalloped potatoes for pick up on Christmas Eve. I am so happy I did!! Ordering could not of been easier online and being able to set my pick up time was so helpful. I was greeted by a really friendly staff everything was packaged beautifully. The instructions on reheating were really helpful and easy to use. As for the meal it was amazing!!! The prime rib was beautifully seasoned and the fresh horseradish and gravy that came with it was excellent!!!!! The potatoes are the stuff that dreams are made of creamy , cheesy goodness!! I could not of been more pleased with the over all expierence from ordering to pickup and simply warming up my oven and letting the magic happen. Mario and Jessica took wonderful care of me and my family for my dad's surprise 50th birthday! Not only am I professional in the special event industry myself but I also used to work as a sales manager at a catering company....I can be a pretty tough critic. Jackson Catering completely blew me away. We had dinner at their facility on Fulton avenue as opposed to an offsite event. The place was very comfortable for 40 guests. They allowed us to bring our own decor and even offered to help me set it out. They even played music for our party when my portable speaker wouldn't connect. The food itself was absolutely amazing. We had the mixed green salad with strawberry vinaigrette, cast iron chicken with lemon beurre blanc, fingerling potatoes with herbs, and Tuscan grilled veggies. I'm still dreaming of that salad! So fresh and tangy. If you're looking for a great little place to host an event or need some offsite catering, Jackson Catering is a must! We were also offered two separate tastings - one to decide if we wanted to choose them as our caterer, and another to narrow down and choose our menu items. They also were very helpful in terms of figuring out linens, how we wanted the napkins folded/displayed, and other fine details that we wouldn't have really considered on our own. On the day of the event, everything went perfectly with no issues. Even though we elected to have a buffet option for our guests, Jackson served myself and my partner plates so we didn't have to walk though the line. We had a Mexican taco bar for our Hipster Fiesta wedding and it was a huge hit! More often than not, the food is generally pretty pedestrian at these types of events but that was definitely not the case this time. Everything was excellent and top quality.
