Of course it didn't fit, so they got a compressor that DID fit, and got it on and ready to go in TWO DAYS. I went in at about 10:55 the day of the appointment. I walked up to the counter and was greeted with "Hey, what can I do for you." It just seemed like not the friendliest greeting I would have expected, but I didn't think too much about it. So I told him I had an appointment for 11:00. He checked the computer and told me that no your appointment was for 10:00. I told him "No it was for 11." He said "I'm looking right here on the computer, you made your appointment for 10:00!" I could tell he was already getting aggravated. I very emphatically stated "No I didn't it was for 11!" At that point he completely lost it. He got extremely angry and told me I had made the appointment for 10:00 and he knows because he is looking at it on his computer. I told that was a mistake. He yelled at me "You made it for 11:00 it's right here on the computer" at the same time turns the computer toward me and slams his finger on the screen. He then told me that I could just leave and that quote, "I don't give a shit." I tried to get him to calm down but to no avail. I left the office but then turned around and told him I was going to make a complaint. He yelled out the door "What did you say?" "I said I'm going to make a complaint." He jumped up out of his chair raced outside put his finger in my face and yelled at me, "MAKE A COMPLAINT, I DON'T GIVE SHIT, I DON"T GIVE A SHIT!" At this point he was in a full blown rage. I again tried to calm him down by asking him why he was acting like that and telling him that it doesn't have to be this way. I said it at least 4 times. He responded by telling me I was the problem and came in with a shitty attitude when in reality I was looking forward to getting the smog check done. Again he told me while raging that I could just leave and he doesn't give a shit, the entire time with his finger in my face. Finally he returned to the office. I had noticed 2 people in the shop watching the entire episode. I turned to them and asked them what was wrong with this guy. They just shrugged their shoulders. I headed for my car but then realized I had better get his name I asked the 2 gentlemen in the shop what his name was and they would not even look up at me as if they were afraid of getting involved due to retribution. So I went to the doorway of the office and asked the person I had the encounter with and he said his name was Michael. On the way home I started to wonder if I had made a mistake about the appointment time. I actually started feeling a bit guilty. What if it was my mistake but then realizing there still would be no excuse for his behavior. Anyway when I got home it occurred to me to check my phone for text message and my email for a reminder about the appointment. Yes both confirmed the appointment was for 11:00. Michael clearly has anger issues and would be wise to seek therapy. Take my advice, stay away from Toole's garage in Jackson!

James is amazing! My car broke down on a Friday and I was calling around to every mechanic shop in…read morethe area. I am from the Bay Area and we were about 2.5 miles from home when my car started making weird noises and then just died. I was able to start the car up again and get it to our house in Pioneer and get a call out to AAA for a tow. After waiting for our tow truck, I was able to get ahold of Steins Auto Care and I spoke with James who told me to bring my Tucson in so they could see what the issue was. I had the vehicle towed and due to this being a Friday, after 3pm, James advised they could look at my vehicle on Monday. I was fine with that, however, I had no car to get me home. James suggested the Enterprise Rental Agency in Sutter Creek and I was able to acquire a vehicle for a few days. Stein personally drove my Hubby and I to Enterprise and I was able to lock down a car so I could get home for my work shift. James contacted me as soon as they were able to do a diagnostic on my car and had to break the bad news to me. He let me know that the engine had failed and that I would need to have an entire engine replacement. James suggested I have the vehicle towed to Hyundai to see if this would be replaced under the Hyundai Warranty. Thanks to James and Stein, this was a smooth process and I was able to get the vehicle towed to Stockton Hyundai for a full engine replacement. Luck was certainly on my side when I dialed Stein's number for help and I appreciate all of the hard work and assistance provided by this fantastic Auto Shop. Breaking down on the highway while heading home from the mountains to San Francisco is about as…read morestressful as it gets--especially with a nervous pitbull and no real idea where you are. After calling five different shops that either didn't answer or couldn't help, Stein's Auto Shop picked up. Even though they were short-staffed, already busy, and facing a holiday the next day, they said they could take a look. They also strongly suggested a nearby towing service rather than limping the truck in. That advice turned out to be spot-on--the transfer case was completely bound up. Priority Towing showed up, loaded all four of us (truck, humans, and dog), took the 4Runner to Stein's, waited while we dropped it off, and then drove us to a nearby dog-friendly hotel. That alone would've been above and beyond. The next day, the truck was fixed, test-driven, and running like normal. To top it off, the owner personally picked me up from the hotel. The whole team was kind, calm, and genuinely engaged--walking through what most likely caused the issue and answering questions without any rush or condescension. All for a very reasonable price. Owning a small business means this truck matters. A 2001 Limited 4WD 4Runner with plans to see another 200,000 miles deserves good hands, and Stein's proved they're exactly that.
