The last two visits to this location have been lacking. Both instances stem from poor management. On our last visit, we ordered at 7:45 pm -- two dinners, two drinks, and two apple pies. The dinners were served with biscuits that were so hard they could not be eaten while the chicken tenders and fried chicken had been keep on the warmer too long. The pies served were incorrect, strawberry instead of apple (the pies were not marked, and the manager told the employee preparing the order the pies were apple). When I informed the front counter of the mistake, the person at the counter said those were the last to two pies that were cooked. I asked for a refund on the pies, and the employee had to get her manager. The manager did begrudgingly offer to cook two pies, but since we had finished eating, we declined. The manager then went to the back and returned with the cost of the pies, but not the taxes that were charged. So basically, taxes were paid on items that were not received (it's not the money amount but rather the principle of being charged for something that was not received). We were the only two eating in the dining area, and the TV was so loud that conversation was impossible. This has been our go to fast food restaurant in the area for several years, but no longer. First time at this location and probably the last time. I received a friendly and quick service while ordering. The place was decently okay with cleanliness. The food took about 10 to 15 minutes to be ready. The quality of the food was not there for me. I tried the 8 piece nuggets and fries. I got less than 8 pieces, and the fries were not consistent with flavor. It was some orange seasoning over them, and It was salty. I also got the apple pie, and it was tart instead of a sweet. I would recommend to name them or let the signage state it's tart. The pancakes were buttery and well liked with syrup. The grits were a bit water to my liking. read more

During our short stay in Oxford, we had lunch at the Jack's Restaurant across the street from the Quintard Mall. Home of the Big Jack, this Southern fast food chain serves up burgers, fries, sandwiches, fried chicken, chicken fingers, salads, Blue Bell Ice Cream, shakes, and Coke fountain sodas. Jack's also serves breakfast too. The Country Fried Steak Sandwich on the menu looked pretty good, but we kept it simple and ordered a bag of hamburgers, crinkle cut fries, and 2 Diet Cokes. The burgers had a very similar taste to McDonald's hamburgers, except these burgers had real onions, no recon onions. The burger patties were well done, on the dry side. The crinkle cut fries were fried golden and crispy outside. Overall, the Jack's Hamburgers we had for lunch were decent tasting and not greasy. I tried this place for lunch yesterday. Seems to be a local chain. The menue is a bit weird. Has burgers, fried chicken, fried chops, and salads. I had a two piece fried chicken with fries and slaw. Chicken was ok. Slaw was really good. The fries were different. They were crinkle cut style which I love. Yet they seemed to have a cheeto type seasoning on them. Might have been good if it was evenly put on. It was clumpy and not good. Minus that its an ok joint. Seemed to be very busy. And standard fast food clean level. Not great but not bad. Great food and service. The fried chicken is some of the best around. The chicken fingers are also great. I recommend the homemade ranch dressing. Their's several choices for sides included biscuits. The breakfast is great. The biscuits are fresh and hard to beat. The atmosphere is always welcoming and the wait staff always goes out of their way. read more

Being from the Pacific Northwest, Jack's was a new experience. I ordered the Jack burger with no cheese just to check it out, and it was very good in a way that rivals California's IN N OUT Burger. A fresh straightforward burger that makes me want to go back. read more

When I make road trips I always stop at Jacks and get large unsweet teas. I recently made a trip to Atlanta. On my way, when i ordered I got the usual (32 oz i think) large unsweet tea. On my way back when I ordered a large I consistently got something a lot smaller. I've noted that the biscuits have gotten smaller - so i stopped ordering them. Then I noticed the large fry had gotten smaller - so i stopped buying them. Then I noticed the big jack split into the big jack and the bigger jack and they all got smaller - so i stopped ordering them. Looks like the management of McDonald maybe has moved over to Jacks??? I have a suggestion for Mr. Jack ..... since you have shrunk up all the food - Have you thought about shrinking up the Jacks facilities??? You could make the doors lower so you have to duck to go in. You could make the table and chairs smaller and guest could squeeze in or maybe don't supply tables and just let the customers sit on the floor. You could shrink the bathrooms and or make one stall for all to share. Oh...lower the ceilings too. These are just some cost cutting ideas that you could further rip off customers due to greed or maybe you have a financial crisis from mismanagement. Either way - these are all good ideas to cut costs. Oh....and by the way - i bought a large double insulated canteen - so I'm not buying your tea on my trips either any more. And this eliminates the last thing I would buy at Jacks....so this is my last review of your miniaturization activities. read more

I ate breakfast at Jacks in Oxford Alabama, I ordered a breakfast plate with cheese on my eggs. When I got my eggs I could not taste or see the cheese, I was sure they just forgot add the cheese, I returned the plate and told them that I could not taste or see any cheese. They sent the plate back in the kitchen and it was returned to me in a few minutes, I was surprised it looked the same, like they had just moved the eggs around on the plate thats all. I took a few bites and still no taste of cheese, by this time i dident care for the eggs. I returned the eggs and showed them to another person at the counter, and asked how much cheese should be on eggs when they are ordered with cheese, she said they are cooked in with the eggs, my reply was they need to add more cheese, enough to at least taste. Thats why I wont go back to jacks! If you like this kind of service this could be the place for you! read more
