Asiago Chicken Bowtie pasta
Gray R.

I got the Asiago Chicken Bowtie pasta as take out from an Uber BOGO promotion -- I'm a huge pasta fan and was looking forward to trying Jack Astor's. The Square One location has been around absolutely forever but I still found someway to have not gone to it. Maybe for the best, as I have to say I'm not impressed. There's a good portion of chicken, but the pasta ran dry (the sauce container is the size usually used for ketchup haha), the whole meal is pretty salty, and there was so little actual pasta I thought I ordered a children's meal by accident lol. I ordered 4 plates, initially for 4 people, but we ended up having to cook something on the side. For ~$10 a dish, it's barely passable, but for the original price of $20/plate there are many better options out there. Likely won't be coming back for take out or dine in even when it re-opens.

We had a great time here, our server (Lauren) was the best! she filled us in on all the promotions, and let us know what the deals. Our food was great and the drinks were great too. Would definitely come back.

Staff is a bit rude and service is slow Other than that it's the same ol menu that everyone is familiar with

Came with 3 other friends. Can't go wrong with fish and chips at Jack Astor's chain. Big pieces and nicely deep fried. I usually don't eat fried food except at restaurants. Didn't give me any heart burn so I would say the oil used to deep fry was fresh as well. My friends came late so I was seated first which was a surprise to me as usually have to wait for the whole party to arrive especially during Covid. Server was very attentive. I ended up having 2 Canadian and 1 Guinness. There was a seating time limit of 1.5 hours I believe, but the patio had lots of tables and was not that full so we stayed for 3 hours without problem. All very relaxing experience catching up with friends.

Average waiting time is between 45mins - 1 hour for the patio seating. The set up is good. Scan QR code for Covid information/view menu and mask mandate on entry are the basic steps followed. Wait time for drinks , starters and main course can be long. So unless you are in a hurry it's fine since on a summer Evening it feels good too sit here. Good options for drinks. The fresh guac and chips were good. Thai Sesame chicken stir fry can be substituted with Tofu, shrimp or fried chicken for extra charge. The tofu was a little hard but overall loved the sauce and the veggies. The holy smoke burgers come with coffee of side and the sweet potato fries were good Overall this was a good experience!

Went here for dinner tonight, a Friday at 4:30. There was hardly anyone at that time but by 6:00 it was really starting to fill up. This place has a cool feel to it, with a third of it being a bar, and the other 2/3 the dining areas, with lots of booths. It is starting to show its age, especially the washrooms. Our server was friendly and took care of us really well. We ordered the Jack's freshly baked garlic pan bread with cheese and it was to die for. Light and airy sitting in a pool of garlic butter--absolutely delicious. The entree I had was the Memphis NY 11oz steak with veggies and loaded mashed potatoes--it was also delicious. The steak came with a peppercorn sauce on the side, and it was amazing. For dessert we had them make us a custom brownie and ice cream with hot sauce on the side. The vanilla ice cream was good, but the brownie wasn't fresh, dry and crumbly.

This is my favourite Jack Astor's to come to. Everyone has always been super friendly and very helpful. I ordered the chicken fingers and a side Mexican salad. The chicken fingers don't usually have a strong flavour from any seasoning, so I got the garlic aioli on the side. Even mixing it in the salad was great. I'd highly recommend this meal to anyone who loves chicken fingers. My go to meal!

I have come here a couple of times now, and I've found the service and food to be pretty good. Most recently, I came here on a Game Day so naturally, it was pretty busy. Something to note, is on game days, Jack Astors doesn't take reservations. We ordered the standard beer and veggie nachos to start, and they were great. The Nachos were especially tasty because they drizzled some sort of chipotle sauce on top which added a great flavour. Normally, Jack Astors has amazing Chicken Tenders so I decided to order it this time around. To be honest, The chicken was great, but the fries were just lukewarm. Protip, if you get the buffalo sauce on the side, it tastes so much better! Otherwise, if it's tossed in the sauce, the strips can get pretty soggy.

Wings were amazing

I feel this is one of the busiest and friendly Jack Astor's location. We went here in summer and it took us 15 minutes to get seated in patio. They have a great patio. It was a nice warm evening and we ordered beers, wings and nachos. Everything thing was good. Wings stood out for me. We had ordered 2 flavours- toffee chipotle and ginger teriyaki. Both the flavours were amazing. Wings were crispy from outside and juicy inside. The service was friendly. Can't wait to visit again in summer.

Rating 2.5. Casual atmosphere but somewhat loud. We came for an event and could not hear any of the presenters. The staff were nice and friendly but rushing around to manage our group and other customers. We had to wait a bit for our food. For our group they served calamari, bruschetta, chicken quesadillas, veg quesadillas and guacamole and corn chips. The guacamole and chips was the only thing I could have that was gf and dairy free. Hubby and I ordered salads for ourselves. He had the tuna one and I had the one that supposed to be mixed greens with arugula and red quinoa and strawberries, apples, pecans (minus the cheese). Sounds good right? Sadly mine was mainly a large bowl of lettuce, no arugula, maybe 1-2 tsp of the quinoa and very little of the other toppings Hubby also had a large bowl of lettuce topped with a decent portion of tuna, but little else. It did not even have any avocado as described. The server brought him some avocado on the side after he pointed it out. The salads are ridiculously expensive (approx. $20 each) so I expect a heck of a lot more than lettuce. Not sure I would invest the time and money to go back and try the pad Thai or curry bowl unless they could guarantee it to be made veg, gf and dairy free, but also with adequate ingredients.

Gord and I had Pep & Cheese pizzas (10" New York style pizza, pizza sauce, Ezzo pepperoni, mozzarella, oregano and Grana Padano cheese) and we both took half of our pizzas home for lunch tomorrow. Rosemary had Mac and Cheese (creamy mac and cheese made with our beer and cheddar sauce, topped with melted cheese, shaved scallions) and Chicken Tenders - Kids Combo (3 kid-sized buttermilk marinated, panko-breaded chicken tenders; served with thick cut french fries, plum sauce and ketchup) ... the mac and cheese looked delish and she took half home but the chicken tenders were overcooked. Kevin had a Chicken Clubhouse Sandwich and fries (classic clubhouse sandwich served on 3 pieces of toasted white bread, stacked with grilled chicken breast, shredded lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese, bacon, guacamole and chipotle aioli spread). Alfred had a Margherita pizza (10" New York style pizza, pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and Grana Padano cheese). Christine had a Chicken Caesar Wrap (grilled chicken breast, romaine, parmesan, caesar dressing, wrapped in a 12" flour tortilla) and took half home. Ocean was our server. She was friendly and took good care of us. For some reason, the 3 pizzas came out about 15 minutes after the other meals so they were almost finished by the time we started.

The new location has two levels, a beautiful open concept floor plan and a large outdoor patio. We walked in on Saturday (World Series Game 2) and were seated immediately. They had another weekly event going on but that didn't detract from speed and service. The beers are fantastic, with some staples still on the menu from 2013! The Eephus, Wrigley, and Greenwood are original and exactly as I remember, but Ice Cold Beer, Tarps Off, and Oppo were delicious too! During that time, I made multiple attempts to get a server's attention, but staff consistently avoided eye contact and rushed past without acknowledging me. Eventually, I had to interject just to ask about my order, only to find out it had already been prepared and sitting off to the side the entire time. As a result, I stood there unnecessarily while my food was getting cold and by the time I got home, it was no longer enjoyable, and considered throwing it out. What's most frustrating is that this could have been resolved easily if even one staff member had acknowledged me and checked whether I was waiting for pickup. Instead, I was completely ignored despite standing directly in front of the pickup area, while other customers were being assisted. I understand it was busy due to Good Friday, and there were several other customers waiting. However, that makes it even more important to have a basic system in place, for example, having one staff member greeting customers, managing pickups, or clearly directing where to go. As a first-time customer, there was no clear process, no signage, and no way to tell whether my order was ready, which added to the confusion. I hope this feedback is taken seriously. A simple acknowledgment and clearer organization would have made a significant difference.

Female servers were attentive with taking orders, bringing water without asking, clearing table, checking in, etc. Prices were reasonable. A burger combo was $12, so not bad! Not intimidating as all! Would go back if I was in the area.
