I came in and Ted immediately recognized my voice and my need. He pointed me to one of the cheapest guitars and when I heard the tune of it (compared to my old one) I knew I had to have it! I was so eager to take it home I almost forgot to grab a case to move it with. I checked out the soft cases and wasn't really vibing with them and then I turn around and Ted pops out with this feaux alligator skin wrapped hard case, guitar already in it and ready to go. He threw me some picks for free too which I definitely appreciate. I'll be returning for any musical needs of mine & definitely recommend speaking with Ted if you need clarification or help with anything :) thanks so much

We walked into this place on a rainy Saturday afternoon and there were some very talented people picking a little bluegrass in a corner while we browsed away. The selection of stringed instruments is unlike any that I've seen in a small shop, and they have separate room (which are enchanting) for all sorts of music lessons (not just stringed instruments, but piano, horns, etc). The woman behind the counter was friendly and chatty and although she tried to upsell just about everything, she wasn't pushy about it and seemed to know what she was talking about. This is a great place to go on a lazy afternoon, whether you're a musician or not.

Glen brought it back to life and it still plays like a banjo should to this day. Love it. Now when I buy a new guitar I take it right to Glen to set it up how I like it before I even play it. Reasonable prices, not as much selection as Guitar Center obviously, but a lot more personality, just like all the small shops. Preferable indeed! Didn't have much time to peep the guitar selection. Looked pretty standard...no jaw-dropping Les Pauls or anything, but a few solid used axes nonetheless. Not much for drummers, although he did have a few cymbals, so if you need some color in your kit's cymbal arsenal, maybe give him a call to see what he's got. Best for the used amps/cabs though...good selection considering the size of the joint.

He has set up my guitar students with just the right guitar for a great price. He also has a great guitar repair guy who fixed my 1982 Ovation when others said that I need to send it to the factory. It works great now! Both of these guys are well-seasoned guitar pros who have been around the block, not like some 20-something trying to sell you the guitar with the highest markup at the big stores. So go see George at Liberty. You will find a friend (and a store) for life!

I had played a little bit about 20 years ago, but since then I just taught myself online for a few months, but was basically a beginning. My son, at 7 years old, was obviously a beginner. We are now in our third or fourth year with Nick's group. One of the biggest advantages of Nick's program is that the kids are not only picking up basic music skills, which they will enjoy for the rest of their lives, but they are learning about how to perform with other people. That was a skill that I had never been taught when I was taking lessons. Both Pat and Martin have a teaching style that I wish my old teachers had. My kids enjoy practicing and it is never a fight to get it done. Another great perk of Band-Gig is that they put on student concerts a number of time per year in a local venue, with the proceeds going to a local charity. It has always been a well attended event and you get to hear lots of talented people doing what they love.

I'm thrilled with my progress as a violinist and can't imagine studying with anyone else at this point. One of Stan's greatest gifts as a teacher is the way he demonstrates music. When he plays, he expresses it so vividly that I can see, feel, and hear exactly what he means. Those moments stay with me, and I'm able to draw on them during my practice, which makes his lessons especially impactful. His teaching will stay with me for the rest of my life. I also want to mention Dina, who helps organize the schedule at Newton Violin Studio. She is wonderful--always responsive and helpful when changes come up. I'm grateful for her support in keeping everything running smoothly. I can't recommend Stan and the Newton Violin Studio highly enough.
