I had an extraordinary experience with Jack's Decks! Jack is as thorough, knowledgable, and professional as they come! My fiance and I are THRILLED with our brand new, gorgeous deck! I'll start from the beginning... Jack was right on time for our initial quote appointment (seems rare these days, having dealt with quite a few contractors lately). Jack intently LISTENED (also a rarity with contractors today) to everything we wanted, patiently answered all our questions, gave us valuable tips and suggestions, and was extremely honest about everything. And he didn't try to up-sell us on anything, which I very much appreciate. He made it clear that he wanted to provide us with exactly what we wanted. Jack came back one more time (promptly) to ensure our measurements and our satisfaction with the proposed deck plan. Then he sent the contract, which broke down everything (labor, materials, etc.) in great detail, giving me peace of mind that there would be no "surprises" along the way. The team started working within a week, and they worked for the entire day! Most contractors, from what I've seen, have several projects going on at once, which means that each project takes longer because they're traveling between different jobs. Not this team. The deck was finished quicker than quoted, and it is beautiful! They left no mess at all, and the workmanship is stellar. I am beyond satisfied with the quality of service I received from Jack's Decks. I highly and confidently recommend this company!! read more

We used Jack's decks to replace posts and a cabinet base. The posts had former termite damage and the cabinet wasn't level. We needed it repaired quickly for a new outdoor countertop. I spoke to many different contractors and deck companies. The person that came out did the most thorough examination of the deck and asked very thoroughly questions. I knew that no matter the quote, I'd prefer to go with this company. Then the quote was so reasonable. They did an excellent job. I was so impressed with their work and the cost. I'd definitely use them again and highly highly recommend them to anyone doing deck repair and/or construction. read more

Will was our project lead and he and his assistant did a fantastic job of replacing the railing on our two decks!!! We changed old and crumbling existing Evergrain railing with black metal Trex Signature with black hogwire mesh. We love the product and it enhanced our views! Will has a great eye for details and kept us informed throughout the project so there were no surprises. Great communication. Fair pricing. Excellent end results!! I highly recommend Jack's Deck's! read more

Just had a 450 sq ft deck built by Jack. He came on time and finished the job on time. More importantly, I asked for changes and corrections during the process and he was very helpful and was very flexible to work with. I was concerned that because he asks for quite a bit of payments upfront and during construction that it would be bad if he were an uncooperative type of contractor. On the contrary, he was the most flexible and easy to work with contractor company that I have ever dealt with. Always a quick answer to a text message or email as well. read more

It is true that the business ended up not charging (even though threatened to file a lien to collect the money) for the two hours of labor spent in digging into my driveway and the $400 of material left onsite (which could have been taken back as the project was immediately halted), but Jack's Decks didn't either cover for the damage to the driveway that far exceeded the cost of two hours of labor of his crew. In a nutshell, my comment contained no misleading or false information as the business states. read more

I have a large, private patio in front of my townhouse. I've wanted to have deck built over it for the longest time. Even though I didn't have a lot of spare money for home improvements, I finally decided to go for it and start enjoying the space instead of sneering at it every time I walked by it. It was a hard choice between Jack and the other contractor I got a quote from. Jack's quote was less, which was great but I also had a gut feeling that if there were a problem, Jack would handle it better than the other contractor. Well, there was a problem and Jack was responsive, professional and handled it completely to my satisfaction right away. He made it clear it was important to him that I was happy. That's worth a lot to me. After I picked Jack to do the job, he asked me to go the Decking Superstore to pick my material. The woman who helped me was awesome and when she found out who I was using, she said Jack was wonderful to work with and that he would do a great job for me. She was right! My deck came out so beautiful. Everyone comments on how nice it looks. Jack's crew was excellent. Jose, the foreman, knows exactly what he is doing and is very meticulous. The guys showed up every day and knocked out the job very quickly. Jack came by to check on things several times, and in two short weeks the deck was done. I recently had my townhouse appraised for a refi. The gentleman who did the appraisal said he had done quite a few units in my complex and very few were as nice as mine. He said one of the major differentiators was the beautiful custom deck I had out front. Thanks Jack!! I absolutely recommend Jack's Decks! read more

We are delighted with our deck. From the initial visit and survey, through design, bid, contract, deconstruction, and conduction, Jack and his team were wonderful to work with. The work was done on time; they did the job beginning to end without interruption. One of the best aspects of Jack's approach is that he committed, and they indeed delivered, on this - we had their team dedicated to our project. We love the look and feel of the deck in Cumaru and the retaining wall they redid in ledgestone. The workmanship is evident. They are very conscientious and made sure that not only was the job done well but the clean-up was done well. Jack regularly checked in to make sure we were always in agreement with any changes or suggestions he had to make the job better. All in all, a great customer experience. We highly recommend Jack's Decks! read more

To be honest, not sure what to expect as it was a referral from a neighbor. The quotation process was quick and thorough. I already had an idea what I wanted with my deck and landscape but actually got better suggestions and recommendations from Jack when he scoped out my yard. Jack definitely knows what he's doing and his experience shows through his recommendations. Ultimately I agreed and let him run with his ideas and to my surprise, actually came below my budget by 10%, not to mention looking 10x better than what I originally drew up. The best part of the experience is that Jack is actually a degreed mechanical engineer like myself which makes the communication so much easier because his answers were very technical and that shows he knows what he's doing. For me, the worst part of dealing with contractors is that most of them (99% of them) are just a bunch of knuckleheads with 5th grade arithmetic skills. Trust me, there is nothing worst than that, especially when you are relying on them to design a sturdy and safe deck for you and your family. Why would you want a 5th grader rather than engineer build your deck? I realize that not all decks require an engineer to build but to me it's peace of mind and the best part is that Jack turns out to be cheaper than all the other quotes I got!! Do yourself a favor. Use Jack and his crew and forget the rest. I usually hate dealing with contractors but this was by far the most pleasant experience I've ever had. The dude also does kitchens and bathrooms - I'd hire him for that too!! read more

Jack and his team did a major project (6 weeks) for our house remodeling. We teared down a large deck on an upper floor and re-did it. Also, we did a brand new terrasse on the lower level and one little cute deck in front of the spa Yes a big job! Jack is really a Deck expert and delivers high quality work. He has a strong sense of perfection and brings good solutions and proposals. I recommend consulting him when you have a deck project. read more

Jack is incredibly professional, knowledgeable and kind. He even tells you when you should not do work that is not needed saving you money that other contractors would have kept for themselves. Always on time, with a smile and his attitude is reflected by his worker who behave similarly. My wife and I are very happy with the way our 2 levels cumaru deck turned out. I highly and wholeheartedly recommend Jack! read more

Jack is perhaps the most honest contractor I have met. He was the third contractor to bid on a new deck to replace one that was literally falling apart. As soon as he turned the corner of my house and saw the deck he said "this decking was recalled 8 years ago, a class action lawsuit, the manufacturer has to replace it for you at their cost." Jack even identified the manufacturer. The deck was replaced by the manufacturer. I tried to get the job for Jack but I had to use a designated contractor. Point is, Jack's honesty did cost him my job. So I hope you strongly consider Jack because of his honesty. And by the way, of 3 bids his was the lowest. read more

We were utterly thrilled with the work Jack and his team did on our new deck. We bought a forlorn house with good bones and an existing deck built God knows when which just needed to go. Based on other Yelp reviews, we went with Jack. He and his team build decks for a living, and like most people spending a pretty penny we wanted to be in control of the project. With Jack, we should have just gone with the flow as he knows what he is doing. We told him our ideas and he was able to adapt them to a finished product that we adore. He made excellent suggestions about what could be done and what was more difficult to do. It's so hard to trust a stranger especially when you are spending a significant amount of money, but we couldn't have asked for more in terms of Jack's responsiveness during the process and with the finished product. We recommend Jacks Decks without reservation! read more

I decided to get a bid for our deck project from Jack's Decks based on Yelp reviews. He was very professional and responded to emails and questions during the biding process. However when I asked for references, Jack's told us that it is his policy to not give references and suggested me to read Yelp customer reviews. That is a red flag for me, as I would never hire a contractor (in particular when you are going to spend thousands of dollars), without speaking to previous clients first. read more

My husband wants to extend our old deck with roof, we found Jack from Yelp, with so many positive reviews, so we talked to Jack, and he presents himself very well. He did wonderful job for us, Jose is the foreman, the crew are very courteous and professional, any additional work we requested, Jack gave us his honest opinion for us to decide if we want to proceed. We are happy that the project is finished and we can enjoy our outdoor life more frequently. I'll definitely recommend Jack to all of my friends. read more

Jack and his crew built a good size Cumaru deck (took 3 weeks) for me. The deck is not very high but it is on the slope with two levels with connecting staircases/steps and cable railings all around. The pressure-treated lumber frame was strong and built according to the required strength (I measured the beams and joists dimensions and spacing). The deck is built with high quality and a lot of details were put into it including some that you may not notice if not paying close attention. Jack has a technical background, communicates well with details. He and his crew are really the experts on deck. He consulted me on what I wanted the deck to look like, was flexible and adjusted the plan based on what extra I wanted to do, and also advised me on what was best. Jack quoted a fair price and the final price he charged was based on the actual measurements (since the dimensions on my deck blueprint had some errors) and the materials used so I believe it was a fair deal for both of us. We mostly spent time to discuss the deck design (and the extra stuff I wanted to do) and we hardly ever haggled on price when changing the plan since we both dealt with each others fairly and straightforwardly. I had another deck contractor bid for the job but picked Jack based on the good Yelp reviews and references. I am pleased I went with Jack and very happy how great the deck turns out so I return the favor of previous reviewers by writing this review to recommend Jack to his next clients. read more

I did extensive searching and conducted several interviews before selecting Jack's Decks for our new composite deck. Jack presents himself very well, is straightforward and clear in his explanations about process, materials, cost, etc. As others have noted, he's not necessarily the cheapest, but I know from experience that you get what you pay for. Once we got underway with the project, there were several factors requiring adjustments to our original plan, but Jack and his crew were very flexible in dealing with the changes. Whenever he had even a small question, he texted me or called me to make sure we were in agreement on everything. The final product is just beautiful and my wife is thrilled. I heartily recommend Jack's Decks to anyone who wants quality workmanship and appreciates professionalism when dealing with contractors. I've dealt with some bad ones over the years but Jack is at the top of my list. read more
