The entrance is a little hard to find from the street, but the vibe inside is great. The bartender's friendliness made the experience for me, despite it being a small dive bar. I spent far too long being indecisive with the menu and the bartender just asked what kind of beer I liked and came back with three samples of what he thought I might enjoy. He hit it right on the money with his choices, and I picked the one I liked the most to order. The free popcorn is great to munch on, and the bartender kept refilling the basket until I asked him not to at a certain point to avoid having any more than I already had. There's a rosé cider that I saw several people order that was out before I could order it. I'll definitely come back to check it out! We came last week for happy hour and it did not disappoint. It took me a minute to find it and Google maps was really not all that great so just be aware you have to go downstairs like some old school speakeasy. The place is pretty cool, divey, there were 4 tvs on with games and such if you are in to sports. , There were two bartenders working which didn't seem enough for three crowd, but the one I had was really friendly and a nice lady. They gave us free popcorn, my favorite food group, which I though was a nice touch. They don't serve any food here so this might be better for a pre or post dinner place. The crowd there looked like people who had just gotten off work looking to blow steam. My kind of place. There weren't enough chairs this even at 5 pm for the crowd that was in there and it did get pretty loud, so probably not somewhere you'd want to meet a date for the first time. Love coming to Jackpot! The staff is amazing, the happy hour goes late, and there is free popcorn and Wi-Fi. Every time I have gone, it's been a great experience. They have a large beer menu and a wide range of any liquor you could want. You can bring in outside food to eat which is nice so everyone can have what they enjoy. Before a show a few weeks ago, I run up and grabbed Chop`t and brought it back down to enjoy with my drink. The same bartender carded me twice within 10 minutes and when I brought that up, he was really condescending and he continued acting like a douche throughout the night. The beer list is good, if overpriced. My issue was the dog. He peed on the floor several times while we were there. Our bartender went to mop it up; that's good. He didn't appear to wash his hands after doing this; that's bad. Our bartender played fetch with the dog. He took a ball that had been in the dog's mouth, threw the ball, and then got popcorn for customers. Missing from this sequence: hand washing. Solid addition to the 9th St bars in Chinatown. It's basically rocket bar minus the games but with good beer...although the smell of old beer has been replaced by butter popcorn which tends to be a bit strong. Great beer selection though. Only downside is that its a small bar and can be crowded and sometimes hard to get a drink. Definitely my new go to before and after games though. read more

For a basement dive bar that attracts so many people (most were young professionals), it means the bar offers great deal on drinks and super amazing free truffle popcorn!
