Our stay was INCREDIBLE!…read more First, apologies on how long it took to get to this review. It's been go go go since we returned. However, our stay here was so amazing that it hasn't left our minds. So, the "bed" part of bed and breakfast? So comfortable! The rooms were amazing and had such a sense of history. The rooms were very spacious and beautifully decorated. Vintage wallpaper and bed dressings give you the full effect of traveling in time to a bygone era. The showers and bathtubs were great. The tubs were the claw foot standalone type tubs and not the typical Home Depo special you get in motels and hotels. There's just something about showering in one of those tubs that takes you back. However if you want to use them, there are indeed wonderful modern jacuzzis available in the rooms as well which are super relaxing after a day of walking around and sightseeing and shopping. Things were very comfortable inside despite it being very hot and so humid outside. And there were extra fans if you needed them and you wanted to stay cooler too. The furniture is actual wood and not the cheap particle board stuff used with in so many places today. The wood just feels "rich and elegant." From the outside, you get such a sense of history. The place is absolutely beautiful. Now... the "breakfast" part of bed and breakfast was so filling. You will eat like you've never eaten before and will want more but won't have the space to put it. I wish we could have stayed an extra day even just for the food. The owner asks about your preferences and needs and does such a great job with the food. She makes a killer sweet tea as well! The place was remarkably maintained and the owner was so welcoming. She felt like a family member we haven't seen in so long, like a grandmother to us and our kids. She was super flexible about the check in and check out times as well, enabling us to get a quick shower in before leaving so that after sight seeing we didn't need to sit in our sweaty clothes for the next leg of the trip. We so much wanted to stay longer! It was such a great experience there is no doubt that we will stay here every time we come to Metropolis. Oh and I should mention that when you stay here, you do get admission to the Superman museum included in the cost which is just icing on the cake. So really, why are you still reading? Book a stay. You will not be disappointed. Five stars, fifty stars, five hundred stars!

It turns out, those were actually flattering photos. The rooms are just gross. I can't begin to explain how many stains of God-knows-what were all over the carpet. The bedspreads - yes bedspreads, not comforters - were seriously old, and the blanket on the bed had seen better days. The sheets thankfully were clean, but I wouldn't touch anything else. The shower head is circa 1985 and felt like a sand blaster, only to be followed up with nearly see-through sandpaper like towels. On the plus side, I did feel exfoliated. Seriously, the lobby and restaurant are dated, but the rooms are truly disgusting, and I will never, ever consider staying there again.

Well... First, the smell. Body odor, cigarettes, river. It was bad. Real bad. Baaaad. The clientele consisted of the most depressing, broken, and pitiable human beings ever brought together by the draw of a tiny jackpot on the penny slots there has ever been on riverboat. Honestly. Three dollars was all I could give to the slots before I had to leave. Now, the good. When you walk from the land to the entrance of said riverboat, the walls are lined with photographs of past "Big Winners" from the casino complete with their names and their prize totals. 99% of these people looked like they smelled like body odor, cigarettes, and river. The other one percent was.... Wrestling star Kofi Kingston. Evansville is weird. Don't go.

Being a people with disabilities, after having had a long day, with bags in hand, it was rough. When we got to the check-in counter, the woman changed the room we were in. We paid the extra fees to be in a room that had either a view of the city or the river view. We ended up with a room that had the maintenance road & rooftop machinery right outside our window. The shower door wouldn't open and we had to use the shower gel to lube the bottom of the door to open and close it. The water knobs were crusted to the point that they wouldn't turn. We had to fight with them for several minutes before finally working. The shower leaked badly and when I finally tried to get out, I had to relube the floor to open the door again. I was told upon check-in that we would receive $50 free play and upon reaching the game floor and asking, I was told that it was a promotion for members who stayed and we would have had to be members prior to booking. The absolute most ridiculous thing we experienced was the location of the hotel check-in counter. After the long walk from the garage to the check-in counter, we were informed that the actual hotel was on the opposite side of the property! So basically, we would have to go back the way we came, walk all the way through the casino and then we'd find the hotel entrance. The other option was to go back to the garage and drive to the hotel entrance. But when you looked at the parking on that side of the building, it was creepy and there wasn't parking near the entrance. We weren't prepared to put our new vehicle in a lot that was dark and basically open. So we had to lug our bags clear across the whole property. The hotel area actually had an unused check-in area. It was actually really nice. The reason we were given that they didn't use it... COVID. Ya. It's 2026 and Bally's is still using COVID as an excuse for customer discomfort and their convenience. So they get money savings and convenience at the expense of people who thought that they would experience what Bally's advertises. I would NEVER recommend Bally's and we will never stay at another. It was shameful.

The front desk staff seemed inconvenienced to have to check us in or answer any questions. Also gave us a smoking room when we asked for non smoking . Went in the room and it smelled horrible. Had to call the front desk to get a different room. Then the lady with the stellar personality ( lots of sarcasm here) charged us $20 more to upgrade due to her error. The couch smelled like rotten trash in our room, fridge was in the floor again and turned on and off with the light switch?!?!? Other than that, the bed was comfortable. Tv is rather small. Rooms are outdated. Air conditioning is fabulous! It would also help if you had an actual non smoking room in the casino. She smell of smoke in the casino was over powering for a non smoker. Even the lobby of the hotel smelled strongly of smoke odor. And the carpets in the hallway ....... Yuck! From the casino to the hotel the carpets are very worn and dirty. I know it's an older hotel, but a carpet cleaner and air purifier system would go a long way. That with employees who actually are happy at work. They work in hospitality, so smiling and greeting any guest should be a mandatory gesture . Also keeping homeless people from sleeping on the benches inside the hotel between the lobby and the casino would be a positive change. We encountered a person like this that was half sleeping and talking to himself and twitching on the bench in the lobby hallway. I would never ever feel safe bringing a child here. If they are under 21, that's a no go!! My husband and I were disappointed to say the least, and will never stay here again.

We ordered appetizers a calzone ( burnt in on end, blackened on the bottom -bitter tasting) and a sandwich ( warm, chips oily and soggy). It seems like there are only 2-3 staff working on a graduation / Mother's Day weekend ???? Service was slow but these folks were clearly overwhelmed. They were polite and apologetic for the food preparation time. There were very few folks there so they weren't slammed busy and overwhelmed, just overwhelmed. We likely won't be back. $325 Dinner and drinks bill and any chain place with mid quality drinks and food ( Chilis, Applebee's, Cheddars, ) would be 1/2 the cost and clearly better. An upscale place ( Flame, Texas Roadhouse, Outback) would be a way bether choice for comparable money. The Venue is stunning and looks clean. Hopefully they get it together, or get someone in the space who can. Disappointed at best.

Fruit and cheese plate had some nice jam, but the presentation was off. Crab cakes were small. Also, the menu on their website was slightly outdated. I would still recommend this location as it's very classy, great for groups, and plenty of parking. Service was excellent. Indoor and outdoor seating.
