While traveling from SC to Illinois we stopped here to sleep. Of course we played blackjack. Haven't won much BUT the dealers here have ALL been amazing, engaging & in great moods. We visit a lot of casinos and this one tops them all. There is plenty of parking and the room was nice & clean. We had breakfast at the restaurant here. Our server, Brittnee was so friendly and accommodating. I don't want to leave lol. Their friendliness is so contagious. Just go and have a positive experience, you'll leave happy win or lose.

Harrah's Metropolis offers a solid experience with a mix of pros and cons. The casino is newer and in excellent condition, providing a clean, modern atmosphere that makes gaming enjoyable. It's clear they've put effort into maintaining this space. Also I love since the casino is in Illinois, it is a smoke-free casino. The hotel rooms, while clean, feel a bit dated compared to the casino. They're comfortable enough for a short stay, but a refresh would definitely enhance the overall experience. For EV drivers, the on-site J1772 charger is a nice convenience, but it only charges at 2.2 kW, which is significantly slower than the typical 9 kW. I think they need to look into this as the Telsa plugs seem to charge those vehicles at a higher rate. On the dining side, the restaurant 'Bridges' is a highlight. The menu offers some great options, and the loaded potato skins are absolutely worth trying--crispy, flavorful, and a standout dish.

The room was great! They have some newly renovated rooms. I recommend asking for one. The rooms are very nice and on the high-end side. If passing through, I would consider staying here even for the hotel. Sometimes the rooms can be cheaper than other hotels in area. Keep in mind though they charge a resort/service type fee when staying. It is around $15-$20. The elevators also are secure. You must use a keycard to use the elevator. This keeps random people from entering the hotel floors. I plan on going back.

    Sketchy night to be here!

I stopped here on my way to NC. I had a free room, so I can't complain that much. The room was good...no real complaints there anyway. I guess my only real issue was the the fact that there was only one place to eat in the casino and it was that little snack bar place (the main restaurant was closed). When I checked in, I asked the front desk attendant if there was any place to eat in the casino and she didn't know (???). Also, rare incident, but there was a tornado warning the night I stayed and, although I heard tornado sirens outside, no announcement was made inside the casino or in the hotel. So I guess you're on your own if an emergency like that occurs.

Only open 4 days. Other days u get hotdogs , nachos like gas station.

Smaller casino, but very nice. Good game selection! Didn't stay the night, so I can't comment on the rooms.

However, our stay here was so amazing that it hasn't left our minds. So, the "bed" part of bed and breakfast? So comfortable! The rooms were amazing and had such a sense of history. The rooms were very spacious and beautifully decorated. Vintage wallpaper and bed dressings give you the full effect of traveling in time to a bygone era. The showers and bathtubs were great. The tubs were the claw foot standalone type tubs and not the typical Home Depo special you get in motels and hotels. There's just something about showering in one of those tubs that takes you back. However if you want to use them, there are indeed wonderful modern jacuzzis available in the rooms as well which are super relaxing after a day of walking around and sightseeing and shopping. Things were very comfortable inside despite it being very hot and so humid outside. And there were extra fans if you needed them and you wanted to stay cooler too. The furniture is actual wood and not the cheap particle board stuff used with in so many places today. The wood just feels "rich and elegant." From the outside, you get such a sense of history. The place is absolutely beautiful. Now... the "breakfast" part of bed and breakfast was so filling. You will eat like you've never eaten before and will want more but won't have the space to put it. I wish we could have stayed an extra day even just for the food. The owner asks about your preferences and needs and does such a great job with the food. She makes a killer sweet tea as well! The place was remarkably maintained and the owner was so welcoming. She felt like a family member we haven't seen in so long, like a grandmother to us and our kids. She was super flexible about the check in and check out times as well, enabling us to get a quick shower in before leaving so that after sight seeing we didn't need to sit in our sweaty clothes for the next leg of the trip. We so much wanted to stay longer! It was such a great experience there is no doubt that we will stay here every time we come to Metropolis. Oh and I should mention that when you stay here, you do get admission to the Superman museum included in the cost which is just icing on the cake. So really, why are you still reading? Book a stay. You will not be disappointed. Five stars, fifty stars, five hundred stars!

In their defense, it was a Sunday afternoon and most things in town were closed -- which is understandable -- but the museum itself was open. I stepped into the gift shop first and immediately felt overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Superman merchandise. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Superman fan, but most of it felt like stuff I could easily find online. After wandering around the shop for a bit, I honestly lost interest and never even bought a ticket to see the actual museum exhibits. The town itself does have some nice touches -- there are several cool murals and statues scattered around, which were highlights. Unfortunately, the place felt like a bit of a ghost town that day, which made the whole experience fall flat. I'll probably give it another shot during their annual fair or on a weekday when more is open, but it'll be a while before I make the trip back. If you're a huge Superman fan, it might still be worth checking out, but manage your expectations -- especially if visiting on a Sunday afternoon. ----UPDATE---- After the staff reached out, I decided to bump up my review. Their passion for the museum really came through and I appreciated the response. As a huge Superman fan who grew up watching the original Christopher Reeve movies in theaters and collecting the classic TV shows, I expected something a little different. I'll definitely visit again on a weekday -- I'm sure the experience will be much better when I skip the gift shop and go straight into the museum. The gift shop was well stocked, but I personally wasn't looking to add more items to my collection. I mainly wanted to see old props, costumes, and classic collectible from the shows/movies and old toys.

We checked in around 1 a.m., and the room was nothing like what we were told. It couldn't fit six people, and it was filthy. The couch had white and brown stains with trash stuffed in the cushions. The bed skirt had stains, the walls had splashes of who-knows-what, and the floor hadn't been swept or vacuumed. Even under the sink looked like it hadn't been touched in ages. The front desk staff member was kind and let us view another room, 320. It was just as bad plus stink bugs scattered around. There were also suspicious people hanging around the hallway, and at that point we knew we weren't staying. We left and drove two hours to Nashville in the middle of the night just to get a clean, safe hotel. Later, when I realized my key fob was missing, I was told someone would call after checking the room. No one ever did. I called over seven times with no answer. When I finally reached someone, he told me to call back the next day because "other customers come first," even after I explained I was literally driving through the town on my way home. This was hands down the worst hotel experience I've ever had. This entire experience fell far below what guests should expect. Cleanliness, safety, and basic customer service were all lacking. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the cleanliness protocols, room inspections, and communication practices so future travelers don't experience the same issues.

It's also very affordable At a little over $80 for a king room with taxes. I was stuck here on a Sunday where there are no open car rental agencies and no uber or Lyft services available. I had to walk across to a hotel to stay overnight. This hotel is no frills and in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of Paducah, KY, but it is right off of Interstate 24, and a decent place. The woman up front was very nice and tried to find me a room on the first floor because there are only stairs to the second floor and I had several large bags. The only room on the first floor available she put me in had not been cleaned so she had to put me upstairs. Getting up the 2 flights of stairs with 3 large bags along with a couple of smaller items was brutal and required multiple trips up and down the stairs when checking in and checking out. The room seemed clean just old. The bedding was actually nice and seemed newer but most everything else seemed aged and needed an update BUT it all worked and the air conditioning was good and cool! I snapped a few photos. I did not see any mold or anything gross. There is no type of breakfast available here. You can get something across the street at a Casey's gas station. It has hot items available. I'm not sure they even really have coffee available in the lobby. I never saw anything set up. I also would not have gotten any so I didn't look very much. I did hear the woman explain to a man in front of me that this hotel used to be an Econolodge and they had breakfast but it went away during the pandemic and never came back. It also changed to Red Roof. I realize this room rate of $80 is cheaper but it's in the middle of nowhere and they should offer coffee, tea, and at least some sort of continental breakfast. Positives: I was very worried about how my stay would be based on a truly awful experience I had previously with Red Roof and I was stuck in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, this was a much better experience than the previous one where I was worried about my health staying in the room. This room was pretty good just older. The air conditioning was very good. There is a mini fridge and a small microwave in the room. They both worked. It appeared mostly clean (towels a bit dingy and some stains in shower and toilet but minor and from age). TV worked. Bed was harder but bedding was nice. Cons: They lack an elevator which is a problem, they really need to buy new hand towels and ice buckets (which look like hospital room ice buckets), they have just basic cable as TV options and the TV in my room had a bad speaker sound, and no coffee/tea available in the lobby lowers my rating.

I will say, room seemed clean, the shower was even clean, which is normally hotels downfall, and I could sit criss cross in it. However the halls smelt like pot, there seems to be a lot of "hooligans" at this hotel. And there is so much water damage to the walls that they are soft, I poked the wall and it moved. The shower had hot water at night but didn't in the morning, so try and take a night shower. It's Not rated family safe but if you're a trucker looking for a clean place to stay 1 night isn't awful. Just don't poke the walls.
