I got my braids done with EJ a few weeks ago and continue to get complimented on my style. Before my actual appointment EJ, unflinchingly took the time to consult with me about the hair I should buy while I was at the beauty supply store -which was not scheduled. I had questions and texted her and she called, actually called-- me and helped me out. She was timely (which is sometimes uncharacteristic of stylists) and a great conversationalist (which is characteristic but even more so for her). I also like that pricing was clear on the website and overall reasonable. I recommend!

Listen--COG Hair is the REAL DEAL!!…read more First, let me start by saying that I don't let just anyone do my hair. Like many Black women I know, I've had some traumatic experiences with hair loss as a result of "professionals" braiding my hair too tight and causing damage to my scalp and strands. When I reached out to COG, Ejiro responded quickly, consulted with me about what I was looking for, and addressed each of the concerns I had. This helped me to relax a bit as it was clear that she knew what she was doing! When I agreed to have her do my hair, she told me exactly what hair to buy and even sent the name/address of several beauty supply stores that carry it. When Ejiro and I met in person she was both punctual and professional! I anticipated sitting in the chair 8-9 hours, however she installed small neatly parted, waist-length Senegalese twists in 5 hours--record timing!! She was quick without compromising the quality of the style or health of my hair, which is very important to me. The twists came out beautifully! I am so pleased with the result. They are now 5 weeks old and I still get compliments on them almost daily. Also--there was never a dull moment in our conversations. We hit it off from the very beginning and were laughing like friends who'd known each other our whole lives. Prices are very reasonable as compared to other shops I looked into. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to have found my new stylist in Los Angeles. And the best part? Ejiro can do it all! So when I'm ready to switch up the style, I'm confident there is nothing she can't do! :)

Jewel is a gem! (Pun intended)…read more The one on one attention I got for my color, cut and condition is almost unheard of in most salons these days. It felt more personal and that my hair had her undivided attention. She nailed the color exactly as I wanted and gave me luscious layers while keeping the length in. The Monat products she used in my hair made it silky soft and shiny too. Such a bargain also! Aside from the service, she's a lovely person too. I'll definitely be returning to her chair!

Simply wanted to update my review being that i've received a couple of responses from the business…read more This knocks my rating lower. Now I'm sure as she said, she can deliver a great job on the services that she says that she can do. However it bothers me just a bit when I'm told that I'm not giving accurate information to whoever is reading this review. I stated exactly what happened and in no way was it biased or misleading. I asked for very very light ashy blonde color. She said OK and I left with orange hair. My sister asked for the same light blonde color however the owner looked at her hair being that it was black and said she will not be able to achieve that color in one sitting. She never once told me that I was unable to get that color like she did my sister. The only reason why I am updating this review is because 1)The owner responded, though a professional manner, still stated that I (indirectly) was giving inaccurate information when in fact I simply stated exactly what happened. 2) I feel as though she is making excuses rather than owning up to her mistake that she made on my hair. I mean hey it happens no one is perfect.I understand that at the time she was the only one working at her business and has since hired new people however I personally feel it was a little bit unprofessional to book so many people when you know that you're just one person. And just to snowball on top of that, shortage in staff is not a valid reason for the results of my hair. I just feel that if you make a mistake or things didn't go as you had hoped simply own up to it instead of trying to make my review seem illegitimate. I try to make my reviews here on yelp as honest and un picky as possible. If something goes wrong such as a dramatically different color in hair than I had asked for then yes I'm going to bring it up. I'm not asking for anything or trying to offend anybody but I definitely do not hesitate to respond to messages from the owners. As said before the owner had a very professional and well mannered response however the comment she made was not accurate and I wanted to clear it up respectively.
