A get together with friends, not only was this my first time in Kansas City, but it was also my first time seeing my friends in person together. We had to wait only 5 to 10 minutes to be seated. The hostesses were very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was very relaxing, lots of big groups enjoying dinner together. Before we placed our food order our server took our drink order and I order a shot of Paton and a raspberry lemonade, the shot was generous, the the raspberry lemonade was delicious. They had the real deal, other restaurants try to replicate it but theirs was authentic. I ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich with fries, food came out fairly fast, our server a younger gentleman was very attentive to our need, he even took a few photos of us. The food was so phenomenal, in fact it had me stuffed where I didn't ant anything else for several hours. I will definitely be returning here the next time I am in Kansas City Kudos for a job well done! read more

Tried their carry out option last night for the first time. The staff were just as professional over the phone. Wait time was 20 minutes on Saturday night. Which was pretty good considering how busy they are on the weekends for dinner. Food was packaged very well. I'm impressed! We decided on the roundup special from their enough 'cue for two carry out menu for $30. You can switch out the sliced meats and sides for others. I tried their grilled veggie kabob for the first time too and it was amazing. read more

Dined here 2x in 3 days. I don't get a lot of BBQ so I had to get my fix while in Kansas City. This restaurant is lovely. Nice ambience/decor. First time visit for us and it was a wonderful experience. The place is very nice and smells wonderful as you walk in. We started with the Pork and Beef Burnt ends. AMAZING! We also had the breaded mushrooms and if you are a mushroom lover as am I, be sure to get these. They are delish! For ur entrees-I ate the sirloin with cheese bake-wonderful! Steak was very moist and cooked to perfection. My husband got the Pulled pork with Sliced beef brisket with garlic butter broccoli as his side. Let me just say YUMMY! Drove from Austin for a friend's baby shower in Lee's Summit. Couldn't wait to dine at the new Jack Stack and start with the bread pudding. Welp, at 7 pm, they were out and boy was I disappointed!! Nothing else was exciting after that bad news. They were also out of chicken! Hubby didn't care much for the Poor Russ he ordered. My girlfriend and her son and g-daughter didn't finish there sampler /roundup meats; very unusual for a jack stack dinner. Nibbled on hubby's fries. Those are always fantastic; the fries I mean. . Manager was awesome. Gave me a complimentary dessert. Cream brûlée. . He also gave me a 20 dollar gift card to return the next day to purchase my bread pudding. He assured me they would have it when they open at 11. 11 am I call to place my order on our way back to Austin Texas, lady says there won't be any bread pudding till 1.30 pm. So I drove to fiorella's in OP and thankfully they had some!!! Also ordered some burnt ends and fries (8 bucks out of pocket after gift card). Awesome service from the manager. Funny most people say the same thing when talking about Jack Stack... they have good sides. The meat appears to generally be reheated in an obvious way. The service has always been fine. The atmosphere is good. The last time we were in we had a reservation for a party of 5. One person in a wheelchair. They insisted on placing us at a 4 person table with the wheelchair on the end. We had a reservation so it wasn't like we just showed up with 5 people. We asked to speak to the manager. He came by shrugged his shoulders and basically said deal with it. Didn't ask for anything free just not to be crammed into a table meant for 4 adults. read more

Yummy! I am a lamb girl. I have had lamb in the US, Greece, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Morocco, Uruguay and Argentina. Truly these lamb ribs were some of the best lamb I have ever had. They were flavorful and tender. My husband and I split the lamb ribs and a stuffed potato. All was delicious and the service was great. I would definitely eat here again. read more

Enlightened management- Even part-time staff were given the option of health insurance. Food was delivered within 15 minutes of order. Food: Best baked beans ever. Salmon and vegi-kabob were presented with two side sauces. Excellent preparation. Ambience: easy access from surrounding traffic-ways. Parking lot well designed. Grounds and building were uncluttered and inviting. Interior design was roomy. Liked the outdoor dining and bar design. Price: cost commensurate with value. Usually Jack Stack is my absolutely very favorite BBQ place. Yesterday July 23rd was my 60th birthday. In our little immediate family the person whose day it is picks the place to eat. I've celebrated work anniversaries with my friends and co workers here, so I picked this for my day. I ordered the Crown Prime Rib. I was going all out. This was so greasy I only got to eat 2 bites, eat a handful of fries and some of my wife's mushrooms. It was making me so ill that we had to leave. When we got home, the cardboard box was soaked. I knew I couldn't even tear this up for burrito meat. I gave each of our small dogs a little... someone or something should get to eat my $52 meal. Big mistake, they all 3 puked after about an hour. I didn't even get to sleep last night because my stomach is so upset. I just threw out 3 full bones. A milestone birthday was ruined. The manager was nice, but offering to bring me new bones is crazy. If those were so greasy, then the next will be too. She did say they appeared to be a lot greasier than normal. I ordered so I paid for it....but my $112 dollar dinner for 3 of us...kaput. read more

Good mid western Bbq. To me there is a difference in Bbq you find in different regions of the country. I personally like southern Bbq better but by mid western standards Jack Stack is not bad. read more

Jack Stack combines good KC BBQ with a new and contemporary build out. A little pricier than the competition, but the ambiance justifies the price. I went with the burnt ends sammie with a side of fries, both excellent choices. Sammie was easy to eat and grease drips were minimal. Full bar here too, if that's your thing. Much more of a corporate feel to this local chain, so steer clear if that's not your fancy. read more

OMG! Best barbecue I've ever had from a restaurant! We got the Round-up for two with ribs, pulled pork, sausage and burnt ends. Sides were loaded baked potato, cheesy corn bake, broccoli with roasted garlic butter, baked beans and fries. We got fried mushrooms for appetizer and even I liked them and I don't normally eat mushrooms! Everything was amazing, meaty ribs, tender pulled pork, tender burnt ends and the sausage was wafer this but VERY good. Service was great. We had Lauren and she did a great job serving us. We came all the way from St Louis to try this place so I am extremely glad we did. GREAT dinner! I want you guys to build one in St Louis! Preferably in South County! I love the fact that we have a new restaurant on this side of town!! It's so convenient and close to local shopping and right off the highway as well! The building itself is beautiful, you can tell that no expense was spared in building this newest Jack Stack! My favorite decor details are: the cool shades that lower automatically when the sun is setting as to not blind you while you are eating - and the cool wood grain stone counter at the bar. It's beautiful! Now on to the most important part...the food! I started with a small garden salad, it was really the size of a dinner salad (add some chicken or salmon and it would be the perfect dinner). It was very fresh and had bacon bits, croutons, shredded carrots and 1 small tomato. The ranch dressing was very good too! I ordered my usual, the Martin City Mayor. I have ordered this for years at different locations, but found it was a bit on the dry side tonight...maybe the new smokers haven't had time to build up all of the flavor of the Martin City location? I also had some of the baked beans.. YUM they are delish! My son had the lamb ribs. I tried one, and was surprised at how good it was; very tender and juicy. Our service was spot on as well. Our server did a great job taking care of us and if at anytime she was unavailable other members of the wait staff would jump in and assist us (without us asking). Happened to be visiting Kansas City and was brought here for lunch. When in Kansas City, you got to have BBQ right? And when you go to Jack Stack, you've got to have Burnt Ends! I had one of their Lunch Specials which I completely forgot the name of. It was a burnt ends sandwich, which had bits of jalepenos in the meat. You get fries on the side, but I decided to try their famous cheesy corn. There was also a pickled jalepeno on the side if you decide you want a little more heat. I took two bites of the jalepeno and boy did I have steam coming out of my ears! The sandwich itself was delicious. The bun was perfect and the meat/jalepeno mix hit the spot. I'm not sure if they put a "gravy" (like the Chicago Italian sandwich gravy) on the meat if whatever was on the bottom of the bun was just oil run off of the meat, but it did make eating the sandwich a little messy. The good thing about it, though, was that the bun didn't fall apart. Sometimes when a sloppy joe type meat gets on bread, it can turn it into mush. Not the one here! I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich. The cheesy corn... I hate to say it, but was just too cheesy for me. It's more like corny cheese. Liquid cheese with bits of corn and some surprise ham. I would have loved to try their beans, but I didn't have any beano with me and I didn't feel like suffering the rest of the day. Did you know beans make you fart? It's so true for me. Anyway, if I make it back, I'll be sure to try their beans instead of their cheesy corn. As for the burnt ends... I did try one burnt end and it was very tender and flavorful. I've never had any kind of BBQ like it before, but it's big chunks of meat, charred. Flavor was good. For me, I like pulled pork. I have never been a huge fan of ribs, brisket, or chunky meat, so it's a matter of preference. I will give JS credit for a good job done, though. The decor of this BBQ joint is more restaurant style. I am used to less fancy BBQ where you get your hands dirty and use up a bunch of napkins. This isn't that kind of establishment. The decor is nice and is almost steak house-esque. But the prices are right. Service was wonderful and fast, which is important when you are on lunch hour. read more

I always get the 2-meat combo with double brisket, and my favorite sides are the coleslaw and the cheesy corn. the cheesy potato bake is also really good. we usually order delivery and it's the best quality for delivery you'll find. if we dine in, I'll order the fried mushrooms, they are really good. service is great and restaurant is very clean with good ambiance. we are so happy we have one of these near our house! read more

Wow. This place is absolutely amazing! The food is over the top delicious, the staff and waiters are phenomenal, and the restaurant itself is so chic. Our waiter James was awesome! He was friendly, very informative (because it was our first time to the restaurant and DEFINITELY not the last!), and very attentive. 2016 CARRY OUT/CATERING REVIEW ONLY!! OK, don't get me wrong I love Jack Stack... other than this location. We had a couple and their kids staying with us from out of town that haven't had barbecue from Kansas City. And since we have kids and they had theirs my wife and I thought it would be best if we catered Jack Stack from the Lees Summit location. Everything was great and my wife and I were the only ones who had the brisket/burnt ends (thank God). We all ate, hung out, then went to bed. My wife woke up at 3 AM throwing up nonstop. I began throwing up at 5 AM nonstop. By 8 AM we were so dehydrated from throwing up that we had to send our friends home early and send our kids with my parents. We weren't entirely sure how we got it and no one else did. We assumed that it was the burnt ends. It was hell... thought I was going to die lol. Fast forward three weeks... my family was celebrating my dad's birthday and they wanted to cater Jack Stack from this location. We advised against it based on our experience (which they KNEW about) but they still went along with it. As you can imagine my wife and I did not eat it and my family was joking around with us giving us crap about it. Especially my dad lol. This is no joke, that night my dad experienced the exact same food poisoning... for hours. He too got sick. With his age I was a little more concerned about it but he fought through it! At first when my wife and I got sick it was hard to pin it on Jack Stack but it was our only assumption and it wasn't until it happened to my dad from the exact same place that it was confirmed. I don't want this review to turn you away from eating at Jack Stack just avoid their catering from this location. I have eaten dinner at their other locations since and it's wonderful! I never called to let them know, however, my dad did. Just be cautious of this locations catering. read more
