I went to J's yesterday to get a fill on my acrylics. They're not my normal spot but wanted to give a try. Three people tried to fix my nails. It was insane. The first woman did the prep and it seemed like she was being taught by the second woman how to do acrylics but the second woman clearly also doesn't know what she's doing. Attached are pictures of the atrocity "fill". After applying bricks of acrylic to my simple fill, the first woman started trying to shape them. I asked her to make them not so thick and she wasn't understanding so a man, a third person, came over trying to salvage the mess. I've been getting acrylics for 20 years... never have i experienced this. I eventually insisted on paying and going elsewhere because it was that bad. At the end he didn't have me pay, which was the right thing to do, so I went to New Style down the street and they thankfully fixed the hack job that came out of J's. On top of the nail techs clearly not knowing what they're doing at J's, the salon is DISGUSTING. No proper sanitation, it's dirty on the floors, walls, and stations, there are huge cob webs everywhere, wallpaper peeling off the walls. 0/10 do not recommend. Worse than Sunshine in Rhinebeck, which is saying a lot. Also- was overhearing a girl raising concern because they wanted to charge her like $40 to fix ONE nail that had broken. Insane. read more

Went on a Friday afternoon for a gel pedicure, gel manicure and eye brow wax. I did ask for a Christmas design on one nail on each hand / foot, bringing check out total to $104 before tip. Monday, in the shower, I look down and 2 of my toes had all the polish slip off in a solid sheet. I called and they said come in and we will fix, fair enough. Made the drive, saw the same tech and asked her to please at least check the other nails because I leave for FL in AM and hopeful to get a week out of the pedicure. She assured everything was fine, polish was fine, no need to change colors. Drive home, remove socks and shoes and 5 minutes later here goes the polish on another nail. All other salons i can get weeks out of a gel pedicure, they did say I could go back and get a whole pedicure redone tomorrow but I will be out of the area for a bit. No plans on going back, the free pedicure isn't enough incentive if it won't even last 3 days. Avoid going here! read more

I called to make an appointment and was not asked my name. When I arrived at my appointment time, I stood at the door waiting to be greeted and was looked at like I was inconveniencing them. I stated I had an appt and the woman at the front just pointed at the couch for me to sit down. A woman came in after me with her son and daughter and was warmly greeted and asked what they were getting done and politely asked to sit down. The person that greeted them, walked past me a few times, took the woman in immediately, then her daughter and even the son to remove the polish off of his nails. Wait, do you not see me sitting here?? I let that go and then sat there for another 3 minutes or so and was then brought to the pedicure chair and waited another 5 minutes with an empty basin with no water in it. When the woman finally came over (seeming like she didn't want ro do my pedicure), I mentioned I just wanted a spa pedicure, and the woman tried to upsell me for $10 more to do gel. Additionally, they charge to remove callouses, which should be included and she never did anything to remove the rough skin on my pinky toes. This is the most expensive manicure ever. The service was terrible. They took forever to deliver something horrible and ugly. First of all I never wanted gel which I told the lady and she didn't care she proceeded to do whatever. When asking for a manicure people tend to clean your nails, cut the cuticle and add any soothing oil to help nourish your nails. The only thing that was done was filled and dip my finger 20 times in the gel. It was a terrible job done. When complaining to the manager about the service he didn't care and proceeded to charge me $35 for a terrible job. Save your money and go somewhere else. Terrible experience. I asked for almond chrome, and I have never seen something more horrendous. it looks like she put eggs on my nails. she did not use any real techniques for a&c, was very unsanitary and cut my cuticles. I have contact dermatitis from the powder sitting on my skin for too long because she did not bother to brush it off. it was so bad I couldnt face to be in public with them so I had to go to CVS and get my own nail file. TERRIBLE experience. The photos below were taken 3 days after the manicure. This Salon was recommended and the first time there was ok. Went back for another mani/pedi. The quality of the 2nd manicure & pedicure was awful. I went back to see if they could correct the streaking & uneven application of polish on nails. After speaking to the manicurist who ridiculously blamed my nails, not the manicure,she proceeded to call the manager who never seems to be on site. She took a photograph of my nails and put him on the phone & he said there is NOTHING we can do to fix the streaking. Although the technicians were friendly, they were not particularly skilled and obnoxiously tried to upcharge/upgrade our requested services for the duration of our visit. It bordered on aggressive and I started to become annoyed. They did not lotion our feet after the pedicure; my sister's technician refused to cut her toenails despite her asking repeatedly; the water used for my manicure was ICE cold, as were the "hot" towels placed on my legs during my pedicure; and lastly, neither my sister nor myself received adequate attention to the soles of our feet as they are dry and scaly. It doesn't even look like we receievd a pedicure. I was very disappointed and neither of us will be returning. Today I went for my usual Mango pedicure - $45 includes awesome mango hot "foot slushie", callous removal, 10 minute leg massage, hot stones...great deal. I love this pedi so much the staff call me "Mango Sister" :). Was excited to see all brand new massage chairs and a freshening up of the decor. Treated myself to a manicure as well as eyebrows. A 5 minute neck massage is included while your toes dry - but I always add a 15 minute chair massage. Jack's is my go-to for holiday gift certificates as well - and everyone I have sent here has had a fantastic experience. I went today to get my gel pedicure redone and called ahead to see whether there would be a wait. I was told there wasn't one, but waited almost twenty minutes when I got there. The guy didn't cut my toenails anywhere near short enough. But those things aren't so bad. What elicited the single star was the fact that, after he did the callus treatment on my heels, he had me get up from the pedicure chair to a couch and put my feet up on two separate, shaky baby stools at a weird height to paint my toes while he squatted on he floor. Here's the real deal. I have been a client for 4-5 years. I tip more than 18% every time and I am a regular. I get a pedicure, ANC/SNS and sometimes a 10 min. back massage. Prior to this appointment my two sisters and I and many others were encouraged to go here. My daughters wedding was Monday 7/18/16. In prep for the wedding I called 7 days earlier and asked for their first appointment of the day on Friday. @ 9:30. We arrived early and they had been working for at least one hour, since others were leaving done? Lie #1. I scheduled for two specific nail techs, New New & Emmy. There is very little English spoken here but don't be fooled they understand English. We arrived, I was sent with New, New and my daughter went for her pedicure, 2 other members of the bridal party went for pedis too. They all had female nail techs. My sister suggested Emmy, but I don't know her. My services were ok, the bridesmaids ok and the bride to be a total disappoint. Emmy was misconstrued as ANY tech? The nail tech that did her nails was not licensed. After we paid 183$ and they were tipped well we left. I found out after that the brides nails were so bad that I called back explained that we were returning for them to be redone. We arrive at ten as requested the next day. They refused to make corrections and they claim that they needed to be just filed. NOT. No refund no repair. The cuticles were rough, edges rough and lumpy acrylic. Their signs say 25$ for ANC, 30$ for Pink & Whites. I realized I've been paying 33$ for P&W for 4 years! They claimed my nails are long, they are short and have always been! I intended to contact NYState Licensing because they definitely have illegals working and they are not following sanitary laws! I was willing to give them my hard earned dollars but please don't. I was testing this place out to use for a wedding because of the glowing reviews. First they forgot about me and I sat 40 minutes in a pedicure chair. Then when I got the pedicure the nail polish I picked was funky and she used it anyway. She had to do one of the nails twice. I went in Saterday, by Thursday my nail was chipping completely off. I went in for a fix and they would only fix that nail even though the polish was bad and the manicurist knew it. I was also informed that my manicure was only supposed to last a week when a pedicure anywhere else magically lasts multiple weeks. My manicure also had corners cut. I have had two VERY SLOPPY pedicures here. My latest experience, I sat in the chair 25 minutes before anyone approached me. I had my color picked out so I was ready to go. The manicurist painted MESSY-paint on the toes and on the cuticles. She used her own finger nail to scrape the extra paint off EACH TOE. As I go to pay, I decided to tell them I was unhappy for a $30 service. I asked if the nail tech was new since the pedicure was so messy. They told me she's not new and the pedicure was messy because the paint was sticky and old. A good nail salon would have tested the color first to ensure its quality and instructed me to get a new color. Instead, they blame their poor work on their "sticky paint". I should not have paid. As I walk out, I asked another customer leaving for an opinion on my pedicure. She also agreed it was messy and stated that she had the same experience. I looked on Yelp and found Jacks's had a very good rating, so we decided to try it. Wow!! We were amazed at the service and the great job! The prices were also very reasonable. When I called I specifically requested one person for both our appts and they said fine and gave us a time to come. We drove from across the river and were told they didn't have time with that specific person to do both of us! They gave us the time to come in!!! We would have come at a different time! They wouldn't do anything to fix it and we ended up walking out. And I will not have anyone but the one tech do my nails after a horrific experience with the owner herself making me bleed and having all my nails ground down to nothing and ruined because she was too busy the entire time watching what all her employees were doing. WOW! I went here yesterday for a little "birthday treat yo self." I read the 1 yelp post and decided to give it a try (I was def not going back to the place at the mall!). The place was very clean, the nice girl that did my mani pedi wore a mask and gloves the whole time. There was a nice selection of options, different pedi packages with different prices. I went with the every day mani pedi special with 10 min massage for 38 (the special without masage is 30 not bad!) A great foot/leg massage and a hand massage and at the end when I was drying a 2 min back massage! I messed up one nail (of course I always do!) under the dryer and she fixed it which was nice. you could tell she was taking her time and it really paid off ! this is def my new go to place for nails! read more

refrain from going, I gave this establishment a fair shot. I went a handful of times. I felt like from the first time I walked in the environment wasn't clean. The tools were never new. I always get ANC and I have had this done other places. Here they just rush you to choose a color, stand over you while you decide which is nerve racking. (Not to mention the color selection isn't large.) Then the tools are all used and not being placed into sanitizer. They made me bleed twice, and my hands are always dry when I leave not sure why. Probably because they don't soak my cuticles or apply lotion to the hands. Just a hot towel and dirty file. The final time I went in my nail tech K.K hacked up a huge spit into the trash can next to where we were stationed. I really wanted to leave in that moment, but I was about half way through my manicure.
