The lettuce was crisp; the carnitas massive; tomatoes cut small enough to fit in each bite; plenty of sour cream and cheese! The carnitas and beans were in the middle but the lettuce was still crunchy. Got a cheese enchilada plate and churros too. Hummm... The requested verde sauce? Not so good. It was described as med heat which we could not detect. The sauce was somewhat sweet and not good at all. Too bad. The beans were really good but the rice? Just ok. Prices? Tried this local taco place in Murrieta. Have lived here for…read morefour years and still trying local taco places. Saw reviews on Yelp and thought we would take a field trip. Hubby always has nachos- so of course he had the carnitas nachos. I had a pollo tostada and a carnitas sope. Conclusion: nice, clean fast casual restaurant, lovely people and fresh tasting food. Nachos were served in a huge mound with big pieces of juicy pork, beans, cheese and guacamole. My pollo tostada was lightly fried and packed with lots of chicken, lettuce, tomato and cheese and the sope had the same accompaniments and juicy pork. I think I preferred the tostada over the sope ( because of the base) but that's my personal preference. Will definitely add this little shop in to our taco rotation!!

I was already a little disappointed when we got there and found out they didn't have coffee, especially since it was advertised on TikTok. When the food came out, everything looked really good. Unfortunately, my eggs were overcooked, but I figured it wasn't a huge deal. Everything else was tasting good until I tried a piece of the arrachera my husband ordered. The first bite tasted off, but since I had taken a bite of my overcooked eggs at the same time, I thought maybe that was what I was tasting. I decided to try another piece of the meat, and this time I immediately had to spit it out. It tasted spoiled or expired. My husband had already eaten most of his food by that point, so we decided not to say anything, but I'm pretty confident something was not right with the meat. Between the lack of coffee, overcooked eggs, and especially the questionable meat, it was a really disappointing experience. Unfortunately, I would not come back.

Birria for lunch? Yes, please! Ate lunch at Lola's Birria…read moreand grabbed their lunch special, birria ramen + birria taco, and let me just say... my lunch was having a whole identity crisis because it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be taco or ramen... let's have both!! They start you off with chips and both red & green salsa, and thankfully, BOTH were delightful. No sad, watery salsa situation happening here! The birria ramen came in a small soup bowl, but don't let the size fool you. That broth was packed with that rich, savory birria goodness. The birria taco was generously stuffed with meat and came with its own little container of consomé for dipping. Because apparently one can never have too much birria juice. The lunch special also comes with rice, beans, cilantro and onion, making this a pretty satisfying meal for less than $15. That's a lunch deal I can get behind! And the birria itself had what I look for: tender, juicy, slow-cooked beef with a deep, savory, slightly spicy and mildly smoky chile flavor. It should taste rich and beefy, with the spices complementing the meat rather than overpowering it, and the consomé should be flavorful enough that you'll want to drink it straight from the cup. BONUS POINTS: They don't use lard in the beans! As someone who appreciates knowing what's lurking in my side dishes, I definitely appreciate this. Overall, I liked it! If you're looking for a good-value lunch special in the area, Lola's Birria is definitely worth checking out. And if you're anything like me, you'll probably be dipping everything into that consomé.
