Food was amazing! One of the best steaks I've ever had! The iced tea was fantastic with some kind of extra flavor in it. The Banoffee pie was out of this world! Can't wait to eat here again! Fabulous food and atmosphere!

Beginning with food, it was delicious and approachable! Some of our favs include: fried oysters, with cheesy grits, cioppino, Yorkshire pudding. The alcoholic bevs were delicious as well. They found out it was someone's birthday from our party and they brought over small bundt cake with candle, super sweet and thoughtful. The ambiance of the place was lovely, definitely a nice place for celebrate and good food!

I finally made it to this iconic staple and what did I order? The beef filet. It was a beautiful cut, cooked to perfection, tender, well-seasoned, but still letting the beef be the star. It came with roasted smashed potatoes and asparagus. So simple but done so well. I loved the dark, moody vibes. And my bartender was so sweet and helpful. I am very excited to go back and try dessert!

Wow, what a place! Small place, not near the city center, but they know how to do steak. We were greeted as we walked in just after they opened at 5:30. We took an Uber and got dropped off, and then hid under the eaves waiting for the restaurant to open. Fortunately, it was out of the rain. Wait by the door on the side, the door to the front off the street is emergency use only. We started with their Seabass Quenelles special, which was delightfully light and flavorful. I ordered their Caesar Salad with anchovies, which came with three of them and was quite tasty. My wife had their Beet & Buratta Salad, which she said was very good. For a main course, I had their Filet Mignon, medium rare. The steak quality was outstanding, so tender and tasty. It came on a bed of asparagus with potatoes. My wife enjoyed her spare rib dinner, which came with Brocollini and mashed potatoes. After dinner, we enjoyed their Strawberry Cheesecake, which was quite tasty. The wine list was adequate, and the selections were good to match with the food we selected. The ambiance is old steakhouse chic, which if you enjoy good steaks should be music to your ears and taste to your taste buds.

If someone gives you a list of must-try restaurants in Louisville, and the list does not include Jack Fry's, toss the list, and be wary of future recommendations from the source (and if it turns out they just haven't been, take them there and consider it a good deed done). This is a true classic establishment. Old-school atmosphere (think classic steakhouse feel). Top notch service. Great cocktails. Excellent food. The burger is a bit of a hidden gem amidst the finer-dining options that otherwise populate the menu...add a fried egg and some bacon jam for true joy. Last time I was there, they had a pork shoulder so tender you could eat with a spoon (yes, I tried, it worked). Lamb chops are always a winner. So many good choices, with some everyday dishes and some rotating options. It can be tough to get into (and parking is brutally limited, alas), but lunch time can be a good time to slide in, and the bar is always a good choice, especially if you enjoy friendly conversation with fellow patrons and friendly bartenders.

I saw they had delicious burgers so of course we had to come here. Parking was easy which was great. Service was amazing and ambiance seemed nice. Silly me forgot my glasses but I could see more with my prescription sunglasses it was just dark lol.

Jack Fry's is always a fantastic eating experience. It's a classic vibe with amazing food, incredible service, and great drinks. Possibly my favorite appetizer ever is the spicy fried oysters. They are just incredible. Served with grits and crispy prosciutto. A must try. We both got the filet because we haven't been in a while and it's our favorite thing on the menu. The steak was cooked to perfection. The crispy potatoes are somehow nearly as good. The Parmesan on the steak is also a nice touch. I had an old fashioned that was the perfect addition to the meal. The meal was paced well and our server was incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommend Jack Fry's.

Unbelievable dinner at the bar here when visiting Louisville! Amazing bartender suggested drinks, and I ordered a salad and then lamb chops for my main which was awesome. Looking forward to coming back on my next visit!

Great establishment! Had a reservation for a Sunday dinner and was seated promptly. Wonderful service throughout the night. Highly recommend the Veal and Lamb Chop entrees.

Best service I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The are full of cool relics and memories that make you proud to be a Louisvillian. The cocktails and appetizers were great, especially the fried oysters. I tried the shortrib, strip steak, and burger. All were great. I had 3 forms of potato and all blew me away. I would much rather have McDonald's but gotta give credit where it's due

It is really hard for me to give one of my favorite restaurants less than five stars, but a recent lunch was not up to par. Everybody can have an 'off' day. The service was great, but the shrimp and grits was not as good as usual. Minimal grits, the cheese was on the hard side, and the country ham in it was chewy. The flavor was good, our server had a great smile and the atmosphere was as usual 'Old Louisville'. My companion's burger was huge and he pronounced it 'very good'. I'm sure everything will be five star again the next time I go.

MeeshMeesh is wildly popular and books out 60 days in advance, so that wasn't happening--but I was able to secure a timely reservation at The Fat Lamb. That turned out to be a great decision. It was a pleasure meeting Dallas McGarity, the executive chef and owner. He shared that the restaurant has been open for about ten years and that he's preparing to open a new Italian concept. When the topic of his James Beard nomination came up, he mentioned it was a complete surprise--the restaurant didn't self-nominate--which made the recognition feel even more meaningful. One thing I neglected to ask him directly was why lamb plays such a central role on the menu. Our server wasn't entirely sure either, but she did explain how the restaurant got its name. Apparently, Dallas was traveling through the countryside, spotted a particularly memorable "fat lamb" on a farm, and the name stuck. Sometimes it really is that simple. With four of us dining, we may have gone a bit overboard on starters--but no regrets. We shared the roasted Brussels sprouts, lamb kofta meatballs, fontina and truffle arancini, and the whipped feta and pita. Every dish was well-executed and easy to share, which made them ideal for a business dinner. For entrées, my wife and I split the signature tandoori and ancho spice-roasted lamb chops. They were flavorful without being heavy, and the black barbecue sauce added a nice depth. Our server highly recommended the Moroccan-spiced halibut, which our other guests shared and thoroughly enjoyed--especially the mushroom demi-glace. Dessert was the Nutella mousse, another house signature. The Italian cherries and chocolate shavings were a great finishing touch without pushing things into overly sweet territory. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing. The evening flowed naturally--never rushed, never dragging--which is exactly what you want when entertaining clients or colleagues. The Fat Lamb delivered a memorable, well-rounded dining experience and easily earned its reputation. I'd happily return, whether for business or just a great night out.

The hot chocolate was pipping hot and delicious topped with toasted marshmallows. The apple cider mimosas had a weird flavor, I would recommend going with another fruit juice option. We ordered the kids buttered noodles with waffle on the side - big wide noodles that were swimming in butter. My son thought it was too much butter but loved the type of noodles. The waffle was good - not very sweet but he enjoyed it. My daughter loved the chicken and waffles entree, but I thought the portion was a bit small for an adult entree. The chicken was freshly breaded but the waffle was on the smaller side. The sandwiches and soups were delicious - we had the club which was filled with ham and turkey and the perfect amount of mayo. The banana bread French toast was really good, the eggs were cooked well, and the biscuits and gravy were also very tasty. On the downside, one of the plates came out a little dirty, which wasn't great to see. Other than that, the place itself was clean, the staff was friendly, and the experience was enjoyable overall. We were given champagne at the entrance by the hostess for a toast, nice touch. We were escorted through the resturant and showed the restrooms as well as the display of steak choices. Another nice touch. We were seated and served water and asked about drink orders. We all stuck with water. The server, Amber was very helpful with explanations of the specials as well as individual steak options. We opted for the Tenderloin flight, a 4oz filet, a 4 oz prime and 5 oz wagya. Most of us enjoyed the filet best, then the prime and the wagya the least. Keep in mind the wagya was excellent but the other two cuts were enjoyed more. With the exception of my son in law, wagya was his favorite. All were tender and juicy and cooked to perfection, medium rare. We ordered a large wedge salad to share, romaine lettce, blue cheese, pecans, bacon, served with a hot bacon dressing. Not sure why it's called a wedge salad but it was very tasty, dressing made the salad. We ordered mashed potato pattis, that were good, suburb grit cakes that were like nothing I've ever had and everyones favorite side, the limas, in a cream sauce with country ham crisp, again not like anything I've ever had and again excellent and lastly the green that were seasoned to perfection and very tender. We were given a complimentary anniversary dessert, a crisp pecan shell with a white chocolate mousse, and a a berry compote. It was my husbands favorite. We ordered two additional desserts. The chocolate bread pudding with ice cream. My daughters favorite. And lastly the Rumchatta butter cake, a rich butter cake that was so moist but also crunchy on the edges. Mine and my son in law's favorite. Service was exceptional, never an empty water glass, plates cleared as soon as we finished a dish and all servers were super sweet, polite and accomodating. Large parking lot, so no problem parking. I would suggest walking around to see if there is one area more than another where you would prefer to sit. I did that at the end and would have rather been in one of the back rooms instead of the bar area, just a thought. Highly recommend.
