This review is for CHI Franciscan in general, not the Seahurst clinic…read more CHI has the most confusing A/R and billing system ever devised, and they have eliminated the position that helps patients to navigate it. Several years ago, my wife was hospitalized in the CHI system, and when we had billing problems, we were able to resolve them by going to the hospital and speaking with the financial counselor. (Even though we earn too much for financial assistance, the counselor was very knowledgeable about navigating the system.) Fast forward a couple years, and another hospital visit. We set up a payment plan, and after six months of regular payments, we started receiving dunning letters and demands for payment. I tried several times to resolve this over the phone, and got increasingly frustrated... particularly when CHI sent the account to collections. It was only then that I discovered this was for a $200 office visit that had been erroneously not included in the payment plan! No one from the billing department was able to determine the error (apparently, they are just as confused by the system as patients) I feel that if the financial counselor's office was still open, this would have been resolved. I am posting this on YELP because CHI's web page has no e-mail or snail mail contact information, and I got nowhere with phone conversations. CHI Should at a minimum: 1. Revamp their entire A/R procedure, make it simpler to understand 2. Apply payment to the oldest charge (the $200 that went to collection was for an office visit a month before the hospitalization. I was frustrated when CHI kept sending me demands for payment when I was making regular payments) 3.Include actual contact information on their web site, so patients don't have to go to a third party site like YELP 4. Reinstate the financial counselor positions at their facilities. When you talk to someone from billing, they are trying to collect payment, the financial counselor is a patient advocate.

Your practice is shady, nontransparent and unprofessional. I emailed you a while back after I got…read morethe bill saying I owe $XXX for the 2-3 freeze blows/sprays on my right foot and right thumb warts. Never once did Dr. "Name" mention that I will get charged for those treatments and if I still want to go forward with it. I told the staff in that email that I was not informed by that doctor or the staff out front that the treatment would cost and how much the cost is. Once I asked for consultation about my warts, Dr. "Name" just took a can of freeze something and started spraying at my warts, saying this treatment should help and I should come back in a couple weeks for continuing treatment. I thought it was part of the office visit (since I was NEVER EVER informed otherwise and was lead to believe that way). Dr. "Name" also made me uncomfortable with his "jokes" and the way he talks as if we're close friends and this wasn't my first time meeting him. $XXX is not much but it's the principle that made me refuse to pay you guys all these months. God forbid you guys will not trick other patients like you have with me, but who knows? Edit: my ex wrote this under my name. Not sure if the warts still exist. I sometimes like to speculate that they've spread making it difficult for her new significant other to maintain eye contact with her and that there is a special place in Hell for people that flame a family practice for trying to be friendly.
