During that time I had to look for medical care elsewhere and discovered Pacific Medical. My initial contact was with a receptionist (name ?) who was the most pleasant receptionist I believe I've ever met. She was so helpful and arranged an appointment for me to meet a new PCP (Primary Care Physician). She transferred all my medical records from UW Medicine making the process painless. Did I mention the receptionist was so very pleasant? After my initial meeting with my new PCP, I was thoroughly impressed with the staff at Pacific Medical. The medical facility is really close by my apartment, so traveling back and forth is not a problem. Lots of parking, with about half dozen Handicap parking stalls directly out from the front door of the clinic. Perhaps the time spent with negotiations between Aetna & UW Medicine was my good luck.

I was extremely nervous, but once we started talking, he was such a kind and caring man, that my nerves just faded. I felt like he listened to me and we worked out the best possible scenario for my needs. One thing I really appreciate about him is that he sat down and talked with me without typing. Every doctor I have been to in the past types their notes as they talk to me and I don't really feel heard. I am very grateful that I found him and I also want to say how appreciative I am of his nurse, Caroline, for reaching out to me personally the week prior to see how I was doing. I can't remember any prior doctor's office staff reaching out to me like that and she spent a considerable amount of time talking to me. I felt so much better after our chat! I definitely believe Dr. McLaughlin when he says Pac Med puts their patients first.

Which in this day and age I find pretty remarkable. She looked at me when she asked questions, listened when I responded - basically I felt as if I was seen. I don't have "major" medical issues, however I do need to work on getting my weight down and we will be working on addressing thyroid / energy concerns that I've simply lived with. My intention is to come back to this review within the next 3-4 months to provide an update. As of today, I'm quite pleased as I feel she's a gifted healer and I enjoyed our conversation.

She is rude, doesn't say hello, good bye or even thank you. While waiting for Dr. Preston I heard her talk to a patient and told her there is no way she could have a sinus infection because she was able to talk on the phone, then proceeded to contact the doctor the patient wanted to see and told her "I told her she could have 10 mins of your time, because I highly doubt she has an infection." The receptionist frequently forgets to submit referrals and fills out insurance claims incorrectly making for costly mistakes that the patient has to pay. The receptionist is rude and does not seem to do much work around the office and sighs whenever the doctor needs her to do something. To get referrals to specialists and proper forms submitted to the insurance company, you really have to go into the office and stay there and get confirmation otherwise, the receptionist starts the process and somehow loses your paperwork. But Dr. Choudhary and her medical staff are very friendly, patient and dedicated and give patients the time and attention needed. With that being said, your visit will be long since the doctor is spending a lot of time with all of her patients.

She made me feel comfortable and relaxed every step of the way, talking me through everything. Dr. Karmali is extremely kind, attentive, gentle, humble, and calming. She went to UW Med School, so extra points for that! Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.

I didn't have to wait very long when I arrived which was great, and the nurse and staff were nice to me when taking vitals and such. But, I would recommend to double check you EOB from your insurance to make sure that they are not over charging you because of what happened in my situation. I had to go back 3 days later for a follow up to have my TB tests read. The front desk told me there is no co pay for that because it is not with the doctor. Got it. (I also called them to confirm this on the day of the follow up visit) Well, I get the EOB from my insurance and apparently the doctor billed me for his office visit ( I expected), the phone call (wth really), and the "office visit" with the nurse that took my vitals and printed me out a letter saying I was negative for TB. Billed my insurance for almost $1000. Quite extreme to me. I am currently working with CHI to dispute the phone and the 2nd office visit.

She is real sweet with many years of experience under her belt. They accept all major insurance and use MyChart to communicate with patients. Also, any billing concerns or for payment, can be made on there. The team up front to check you in are very professional and friendly. Even when they're busy, they will acknowledge you as you walk through the door. They will kindly offer you a mask if you don't have one. Sanitizer is around for your convenience, along with a water cooler for your thirst. I usually have to get my blood drawn before coming to my appointment. I try to come a few days prior at least. The last time I went, it was difficult as I have deep rolling veins. I normally request for them to draw from my fist. They were out of the type of butterfly component to draw blood from the fist. The phlebotomists there are also friendly. The last gal I did dealt with was not as patient in my opinion, and suggested that I go elsewhere to get my blood drawn or come back another time. I surely did not want to go elsewhere as I should be able to get it done here. Plus, I waited for her to come back from lunch before I had to go to work. I would think there would be more than one person. But, I cannot fault them if they're under staff. Overall, I have a good experience here and feel as my health is being taken care.

I'm not sure if it's just coincidence but I'm always the only person in the waiting room before/after appointments. I feel like it adds to the privacy and also the feeling of individualized attention. Dr. Ross is my first experience with naturopathic medicine and I've been confident in it ever since. I struggle with a number of autonomic disorders and was sick of doctors pushing pill after pill on me. Always having to wean on and wean off heavy medications with terrible side effects. Always waiting forever for an appointment, only to barely be seen once the doctor is finally ready. Dr. Ross is very thorough, warm, and welcoming. I never feel judged by her and though the medicine is based on herbs in conjunction with behavioral changes, I don't feel like she's just some hipster pushing some old world nonsense on me. She provides me with the science and reasoning behind every suggestion/prescription. Her online portal is also very easy to work with. I use it to schedule appointments, view documents/visit summaries, and send messages to Dr. Ross for quick clarification or questions. Bonus: tons of free parking! He clearly wants people in and out as fast as possible. They will bill you through the roof, though, for the 10 minutes they see you.
