Always have to stop in at Jacks for some of the best chicken fingers I've ever had but today had to review the service I received.... I was early and pulled on a locked door... normally staff wouldn't take the time but the door man (Kip) this day opened the door as I was walking to my car and let me know there opening time in a very friendly manner, when I came back and sat down to lunch I was greeted and served by one of the best bartenders I've come across in years, he was very welcoming, very knowledgable put on a show with some bar tricks and was very prompt with any service I required... As I was having my lunch another patron came in for a takeout order..... the back-and-forth and adding and removing of items even I found staggering but Mitch just kept at it with his friendly smile and eventually got the patron away with her order... I feel like he deserved an award for this! Anyways, the chicken fingers ended up being dynamite just like every time I've come here with a nice little new touch of the Buddha salad which was quite delicious! Love Jack Astor's! They don't have them in the US so I always like to go here when I'm in Canada. I got the Chick & Goat Cheese wrap, it was great but definitely could've had more Goat Cheese! My friend had the BBQ Chicken Board nachos and said they were very tasty but the portion isn't huge. We also had the Bruschetta appetizer which I HIGHLY recommend! Ugh it is so so so so so good!! And we also had the lobster and crab dip which was delicious! They serve it with pita bread and tortilla chips, but we really just preferred the pita bread. read more

When the trivia night at Morrissey House was cancelled, many people have been on the hunt for a similar experience. Unfortunately nothing was quite good enough, until now! This is the only Jack Astor's location in Canada to host the 'Smart Astor's Trivia', run by a few gents from London who used to frequent the Monday night trivia downtown at Morrissey. I really love the presentation of this trivia. The questions are easy to read on a large big screen and displays further fun facts when they go through the answers. They have the 2 normal question rounds, a picture round, music round and then the last round that has 5 questions and typically has a theme. They have a Facebook group you can follow where they post hints before the event. The staff at Jack Astor's will come around with free food samples and they had a local craft brewer offering beer samples as well. If you don't know Jack Astor's food then you may be living under a rock. I won't get into it, but my god, at least get the pan bread! They have renovated this space so it's very open concept. The service is always great here for the most part. It can be busy but they are always ready to rectify if your meal takes too long. I had a seminar to conduct this afternoon in London ... I had lunch first at Jack Astor's. I ordered what I always order at Jack Astor's ... Chicken Parmigiana. It was delicious! There was extra creamy cheese sauce on the pasta along with some tomato sauce in the corner ... great for dippy. There were also garlic chips sprinkled on it ... I'd never seen them before and not surprisingly they were really garlicy. Chloe was my server and she took good care of me. She was efficient, fast and friendly ... she brought me a refill of Diet Coke without asking. read more

Group of eight for dinner tonight. It's a chain restaurant and fairly consistent. Mixed crowd of young families and couples on dates. Food was good, with the Cobb salad enjoyed by a couple of the adults and poutine really enjoyed by all kids. Service was very good. Coming from Sarnia, like many others, we treat ourselves when in London to restaurants we don't have. Our $90 lunch bill-before tip-consisted of 2 alcohol beverages each and a lunch menu item each. To start, they did not have the cider I ordered. Ok, no big deal. Then, My salad came without the advertised chicken (for which $2, yes$2-off a $20 salad!) was deducted. My partner enjoyed his small, overpriced sandwich, but he's not picky. I, however,was not impressed. Kate, our waitress, was lovely and these issues are not at all attributed to her; however, it did affect her tip. Smarten up Jackastors. Your service overall is effecting your wait staff's income!! Our most recent visit to this location was very nearly our last. We had to wait entirely too long for our food. My dining companion's burger was so overcooked and unappetizing that it was sent back. I was reluctant to return but the very same companion encouraged me to give it another chance. We ended up ordering exactly the same items on this trip - a burger and the Asian slaw seared tuna salad. We were in a bit of a rush this time, so I I hoped that we wouldn't be subjected to another lengthy delay. We had to wait a bit, but nothing inordinate. The burger was fine, came as ordered, and my salad was prepared exactly to my specifications. Imagine our surprise when the manager (Nick) stopped by our table to ask how our meal was. I wondered whether the server had recognized us from the last time and alerted the manager. Now imagine our surprise when Nick indicated that our meal was free because it had taken too long to arrive! They have a protocol that dictates that lunch orders have to arrive at the table within a certain amount of time after the order is placed. Our meals arrived late, so we weren't charged for them. Colour me impressed! Redemption achieved. Thanks to Nick and the server for a positive experience. I'd be happy to return. read more

In town for business and stayed very close to this location. Went there a couple nights and was treated very well each time. Beer selection is good but fairly expensive. Food is above average bar food. Had the BBQ pizza the first night. This was awesome ! Highly recommend. Next night we had appetizers. Wings and Nachos. Both were very good, however the wings are breaded so beware wing traditionalists. Nachos were layered and covered so no naked chips. Great service. Good food. Expensive beer. read more

Came for dinner tonight with my husband and grandmother. I ordered my beer and cheddar soup and ahi mango avocado salad which were amazing as usual. My husband ordered the club house with fries and gravy. My grandmother ordered the shrimp pasta and it was cold and tasteless the waitress (Christine) quickly exchanged it for chicken wings which again were not to my grandmothers liking. At this point the manager Chris got involved and between him and our waitress they took what could've been a terrible experience and made it a great dining experience. I had appetizer caesar salad and oriental noodle soup that came with a garlic roll. Salad was excellent with parmesan shavings. Soup was also very good. Service was speedy for ordering and food service. Problems were, I asked for lemon in my water and it was not delivered so I had to ask again. Had to ask for ground pepper for my salad. No napkin given when my salad came. Music was too loud where we were sitting but we ate at 8:45 on a Saturday night. When I give average it is not a bad rating at all. This is only as I am partial to non chain restaurants. They have a huge menu to choose from which is great and not great as you want to try so much. I had the cheddar and beer soup which is on the menu all the time and caesar salad. The caesar salad was very good with fresh parmesian cheese. The soup was good too. We had reservations for 17 people at 7:30 p.m. My wife and I arrived a little early with our 2 yr old daughter hoping to get seated and get her something to eat before the rest of the people arrived. We got our table at 7:53 p.m. and it was not large enough for all of us. An extension had to be put on and still we were cramped. The hostess offered to split us up (kids at a separate table), which we declined. The waitresses did a great job of getting everyone drinks and taking our food order right away. I personally declined a drink while we were ordering. When our appetizers came out (rather quickly) they also brought my daughter's dinner and I was very grateful for that. At this point I asked for a drink. Dinner was served, still no drink..... When I was almost completed my dinner, the waitress came by and I reminded her about my drink, which I then got after I had finished my meal. Additionally, I have been going to this particular location since 1994 and I have to say the quality and quantity of food has gone downhill. One of my favourite appetizers is the garlic pan bread, which I ordered this time as well. It looked to me about 3/4 of the "regular" size, very little garlic butter or cheese and almost under cooked. All in all a very disappointing trip. read more

Horrible service and management. I called ahead of time to ask questions about vegan friendly options and the manager wasn't even aware of what a vegan diet actually was. I was told by the manager she could "guarantee" a dish was vegan, I later went to the restaurant to find out the dish was made with fish oil and was not vegan at all. When I talked to the woman again on the phone she was very unprofessional and uneducated on the subject. She talked down to me and didn't take this seriously because of me being vegan. This is unacceptable and I shouldn't have to say I have an allergy to be taken seriously. I could have had a reaction to this dish if I consumed it. Very poor uneducated management. This restaurant needs more vegan options and vegan friendly staff. I will not be returning to any Jack Astor's. Especially with their treatment of vegans in the past. I have only been to Jack Astor's once and it was good up until I found a hair in my salad. When I go to restaurants I usually always get a salad to be simple and easy, so again I said may I please have a chicken grilled salad, the ladies who were serving us where new and young, they were extremely nice and gave me my salad for free of course. It was my sisters birthday and she wanted to go because it's her favourite restaurant so I was like this must be a really good restaurant. Been coming to this location for about 8 years now, always great staff and management at this location. We have never had an issue here, food is always good and I consider most of the people as friends not servers or bartenders. The tight bond between the staff make it a great place and they all know my daughter very well and treat her so well. So many great staff members, keep up the great jop guys. read more

Went in on a Friday night, was excited to get the veg out pizza which I've had a few times (one of the only veggie options) I don't know if it was because it was a busy time, but it was put together so sloppily, and missing the roasted garlic all together which is the BEST part :( And the balsamic drizzle was more like a balsamic dump. I was super disappointed and won't be going back. Also the beer was flat, but I had that taken off the bill. I would only recommend going if it's dead and they'll take the time to make your food properly. read more
