To really take it in, you have to go off the trail just a little bit. One slight problem: the trail has been closed because a very small part of the trail has severe erosion. There is a chance you could fall straight down maybe 10 feet if you go beyond the barrier and aren't paying attention... and then there is always the chance the earth will cave in on you as you are screaming for help. If you lack common sense, don't go back there. Parking is abundant. There are more trails on the other side of Ridley Creek. That part of this nature area is known as the Louis W. Scott Memorial Park.

Middletown Township Memorial Park is located directly across Balt Pike from Media Waterworks. It is…read morehome to the Middletown Township "Millennium Trail" which parallels the western side of Ridley Creek. The trail is singular and is pretty much a straight line, following the bank of the creek, with a loop at the far end, to bring you back out the same straight. There is a power station to the west of the trail which you see somewhat early into the walk. Various benches to sit on along the way, which is nice. Shaded spots, sunny spots, and various slips for creek access. There is pretty wooded scenery, nothing remarkable, but a decent way to get a nature fix for a 1/2 mile's walk (a mile up and back). Today's visit was early June and the trail was full of baby frogs (thumbnail size) hopping across, all headed to the meadow, from the stream. They were super fast too, otherwise I'd have taken a pic. I remember visiting this greenspace as a kid, but the trail is much newer. I presume it was added at the turn of this century, thus the name. I do not recommend this, but we used to ice skate here as kids. The ice got thick enough to hold the dads supervising these crazy adventures, but it was always really bumpy ice (NOT good), and you never knew when it was going to get deadly. So I don't condone this at all, but just a little history, that people used to do that here, back in the day when no one wore seatbelts or bike helmets and all.

The path is fabulous for birdwatching, especially as it goes through Phillips park, but also at several other points on the path. It's also convenient for travelling through town on bike. If you live in Newark, I highly recommend checking this path out, and I especially recommend checking out Phillips park, at the Southwest end of the path.

Attended the Bellevue concert summer series. Most performances are on Thursday nights or Sunday…read morenights. Parking within the park was easy as there were people guiding us where to go. Although it was very crowded, there was plenty of room for everyone so it didn't feel overly crowded. There were food trucks and beer tents set up for patrons! A 50/50 was also going on! A really great night in the park!

It's also very beautiful and has lots of green. The only thing I'm not a fan of is that I currently do live in Delaware, but my license plate is from out of State so I still have to pay out-of-state license fee for the parking. Maybe they will soon change it so that they will take bills as proof of Delaware resident as well.

On this warm Sunday before Memorial Day when we honor those who have and continue to sacrifice for America, the setting was beautiful! There is plenty of space for 1/2 of Delco to enjoy. The grounds boast 4 gazebos several park benches, a sound stage and beautifully manicured grounds for you to lay down a blanket or fold up chairs. There are stairs where you can walk down to the waters edge if you desire. This is at your own risk of course. For the children/families there is plenty of your standard but very modern playground activities. Additionally there is a great water splash pad. Please defer to their website for the Grand ReOpening events along with other events throughout the summer. This park is adjacent to a new beautiful Holiday Inn Express. Bring the family, chairs/blankets, bug repellent, sunscreen and enjoy!
