Dr Cantwell and his staff were doing some contest and talked me into about $6000 of unnecessary cosmetic work, and throughout the process I was rarely informed of what was going on, didn't get to see the screen they were working on, and he made some mistakes. I tried to be open and honest in my communication, but was consistently left feeling bad after my appointments. I tried to convey that I didn't need or want my last round of Invisalign and it was like I never spoke. I ended up going along with it for another 6 months. After it was finally done, i pointed out pain and bleeding in one of the teeth he worked on. He said I would have to pay for him to fix that so I have been bleeding for 2 years. My retainer broke within a month of receiving it. I waited until my next appointment, and he would not look at my retainer. Even if he did, I am sure he would have charged me for a new one. It is pretty normal there for everything to happen behind your head (you don't get to see your X-rays or what they're looking at), no mirrors for you to watch the work happening in your mouth; a lot of assumptions about the patient and what has or has not been communicated. For the last 5 years I was consistently told to "remember" things I was never told and that I said things I did NOT say. I got Invisalign without any videos or information and was told I had been given something. This is the only place in my life this sort of thing has ever happened. I am NOT crazy or forgetful, and I generally enjoy the people I encounter. But I have lost all trust in Dr. Cantwell, and my family won't be back. It's been a couple years and I still get stressed when I think about my experience there.

I've been disappointed ever since. All of them have a grayish-blue tint that looks nothing like what I expected. One of the front veneers chipped after just a year, and another popped off completely last week--only three years later. A few have bright white stripes that were meant to make them look more "natural," but instead, they just look off. On top of that, the backs feel rough, which makes them uncomfortable. Not once has anyone complimented me on my smile since getting them. The only feedback I receive is about the bluish-gray color. I brought all of this up to Dr. Cantwell in September 2023. His solution? Pay another $5,000 to redo the work. When I explained I hadn't brought it up sooner was because I needed time to evaluate them and get feedback-which only confirmed my concerns-he told me it was too late since a year had passed. They refused any refund. Not even a partial one. I do not recommend Atlantis Dental for veneers!! I expected to feel confident about my smile, but instead, I'm embarrassed by it. I recently consulted with another dentist-someone who had nothing to do with my original veneers-and even he could see the issues. Despite it not being his work, he offered to redo all ten veneers at half the price I originally paid. He also guarantees his work and told me that if I'm not happy with the results, he'll fix them at no additional cost until I am. That's what real customer care looks like. Atlantis Dental seems far more focused on profit than on patient satisfaction. They don't stand behind their work. If you're considering veneers, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere!!!

Took some X-rays and examined my cavities I had and knew I was in a crutch to get work done and was able to schedule it and get it done. The procedure was great and went by nice and smooth. After about a week or several days was in dire pain and sensitivity I pushed through it and it got better. But over the course it still hurts today with hot and cold things. "Hanna" explained what she was going to do and what to expect. I immediately asked if everything was going to be covered by my insurance? She replied "don't worry, we will bill your insurance company for you." Not what I asked! After taking my dental x-rays she told me now I am "going to do a 3-D of my mouth." I again asked if this procedure was covered by my insurance and again "Hanna" said "it should be, we do them all the time." Afterwards the dentist came in and reviewed the x-ray and 3-D images with me. He asked what brought me in today and I responded "a check-up and a cleaning." I also mentioned some "food traps" by my left side molars. My medical history included Squamous Cell Cancer of my throat which included a total radical neck and radiation therapy. Due to the radiation, there was integrity loss of my tissue which added to the "food traps". He pointed out a small cavity on a right molar, but never suggested I schedule a follow-up to take care of it. He did mention I should consider having my "silver fillings" replaced with composite material. He then asked the hygienist how my exam was going and was informed she had just started it. She then proceeded to measure the depth of my gums which was "6-5-6" back towards my molars and points to periodontitis. She said she was going to talk to the dentist as she was "on the fence" about doing a regular cleaning. After a few minutes she returned and said she and the dentist agreed on a "deep cleaning" which would include anesthetics (e.g. lidocaine). I told her that I have had cleaning without anesthetics and we can proceed. She commented "I only have 17 minutes left on this appointment" and that she would have to reschedule me. She was informed that I was leaving on Thursday (7/21/23) morning and would not retuning until the end of September. She brought the dentist in, and I explained that I only wanted a basic cleaning and my timeframe did not allow me to reschedule. "Hanna" then asked me if I would be willing to go another office location which was "5 minutes away" as they said they could fit me in for my cleaning. Upon agreeing i stopped by the "check out desk" and asked what I owned and she responded "we will bill your insurance company." With in 5 minutes I was at the other office and informed them I was sent to have my teeth cleaned. With in a few minutes I was brought back my a hygienist. She informed my that she only 90 mins to do my cleaning. When I asked why she said "deep cleaning" normally takes two visits. When I asked if my insurance it covered it and how much out of pocket it was going to cost me? She told me to hang on and left the room. She returned shortly with another lady who explained that the cost was about $1,000. She stated that they bill in "quadrants" and that it costs $259 per quadrant. When I asked how much my insurance would cover "she said I don't know" and when I asked how my out of pocket it was going to cost. She immediately stated "If you are going to be rude than you can leave." WHICH I DID. Upon reaching my house I called my insurance company and asked some questions: 1) the 3-D films ARE NOT considered basic services and therefore ARE NOT COVERED. 2) the dental clinic should have put in a pre-authorization for the "deep cleaning" and they would have known my out-of-pocket expenses. Interestingly, a line from Ted Lasso is one that people should be aware of; he points out that people often make assumptions about other people and nobody asks what they do. You see, I had spent 36 years in Emergency Medicine as a Physician Assistant (PA) as a practitioner and educator. Additional I have a PhD in Psychology. My career introduced me to a young lady 35 years ago working as an ER Tech who is now a CEO of a Health System and my wife. A formal complaint of ethics and providing false information for financial gain has been filed with the State of Idaho Board of Dentistry.

If I want they can fix it but it costs $2950 but to remove it costs $380 they gave me a 3 point calculation. 1 extraction, erupted tooth requiring removal of bone and/or sectioning of tooth, and including elevation of mucoperiosteal flap if indicated. = $380 2 bone replacement graft for ridge preservation - per site. $547 3. guided tissue regeneration, edentulous area - resorbable barrier, per site = $270. After that I was in a lot of pain for another week. And I chose only number 1 to remove it. meaning to pay only $380. I don't need the 2 points. Because it costs me a lot. I was in pain for another week, I called them to come and have it removed and they told me to go to another clinic, they didn't want to remove it. They said I had an infection, what they were doing was not right. They manipulate people's minds to get money out of people. But if the person has nowhere to pay and decides on the cheapest option, they don't do anything.

I was referred to Dr. Carbonne by my regular dentist for a root canal. This procedure is very important because it effects the overall health of your tooth. Dr. Carbonne uses the most modern, high-tech equipment and his knowledge is extensive. He employees a microscope and takes x-rays as he works to ensure that the root canal is done properly. He is extremely meticulous and keeps his work area clean and sterile. His assistant was as good as they come. She was also very knowledgeable and efficient. Dr. Carbonne's chair-side manner is warm, cordial, and comforting. He does not talk down to you and is an excellent listener. A visit to his office is also educational as he shares the process as it relates to the desired result. My root canal was rather complex, but Dr. C. never rushed or cut corners. I felt relaxed knowing that my procedure would be completed at the highest professional level. He and his assistant would check with me often to make sure I was comfortable and in no pain. They even use a mouth brace so that you do not have to strain while trying to keep your mouth open through the procedure. After I arrived back home, I was astonished to find that I felt absolutely no pain....none. Amazing. The office even called me that evening to see how I was doing and wrote to me a month later to make sure I followed up with my regular dentist. They genuinely care. Sherrey, Eileen, and Dr. C.'s assistant, were absolutely professional and welcoming. When you come to Intermountain, you feel as though you are meeting friends for coffee. They are a fun and lighthearted group, which is so refreshing compared to some of the more "clinical," apathetic, and sterile doctor's office's I've visited. After I met with the endodontist I found out my tooth was too damaged and I was going to have to have it pulled vs having a root canal. He could have been dishonest and given me a root canal, but thank heavens that's not who he is. Such a kind man and knows his stuff.
