I have had a lot of dental work as well a few less than stellar experiences with dentists, so believe me when I say that Dr. Carbonne and his staff, at Intermountain Dental Specialists, are the gold standard. I was referred to Dr. Carbonne by my regular dentist for a root canal. This procedure is very important because it effects the overall health of your tooth. Dr. Carbonne uses the most modern, high-tech equipment and his knowledge is extensive. He employees a microscope and takes x-rays as he works to ensure that the root canal is done properly. He is extremely meticulous and keeps his work area clean and sterile. His assistant was as good as they come. She was also very knowledgeable and efficient. Dr. Carbonne's chair-side manner is warm, cordial, and comforting. He does not talk down to you and is an excellent listener. A visit to his office is also educational as he shares the process as it relates to the desired result. My root canal was rather complex, but Dr. C. never rushed or cut corners. I felt relaxed knowing that my procedure would be completed at the highest professional level. He and his assistant would check with me often to make sure I was comfortable and in no pain. They even use a mouth brace so that you do not have to strain while trying to keep your mouth open through the procedure. After I arrived back home, I was astonished to find that I felt absolutely no pain....none. Amazing. The office even called me that evening to see how I was doing and wrote to me a month later to make sure I followed up with my regular dentist. They genuinely care. Sherrey, Eileen, and Dr. C.'s assistant, were absolutely professional and welcoming. When you come to Intermountain, you feel as though you are meeting friends for coffee. They are a fun and lighthearted group, which is so refreshing compared to some of the more "clinical," apathetic, and sterile doctor's office's I've visited. If you are in need of an endodontic procedure, you will find no finer services in the Treasure Valley. What a wonderful surprise this was! No one likes the news that they have a fractured tooth and they have to have a root canal. I was made to put Annie's and feel welcome before I even entered the office. The office staff was welcoming and it was decorated so nice. After I met with the endodontist I found out my tooth was too damaged and I was going to have to have it pulled vs having a root canal. He could have been dishonest and given me a root canal, but thank heavens that's not who he is. Such a kind man and knows his stuff. My only beef is I wish he would just take out teeth if the patient's dentist is ok with it. If you need this service I highly recommend this office! read more

I usually ask for sedation before dental procedures but this wasn't an option for my root canal and I was pretty nervous and in a lot of pain going in. Dr, Carbone and Amanda, who assisted him, were incredible. It was definitely one of the best dental experiences I've ever had. I felt at ease and relaxed without sedation or even nitrous. Root canal. Fodder for late night comedy routines and the stuff of nightmares. Or so it would seem. I had my first today. (The tooth's across-the-mouth cousin will be done just 26 hours later tomorrow). Spoiler alert: This story ends WELL. In this game, perspective and perception are everything. From the patient's view, the anticipation is the worst as the mind conjures scenes of what will be involved. In mine, the first scene includes a javelin being thrust through the vulnerable soft tissue and into the ultra-sensitive, tightly strung guitar string known as the nerve(s). But reassurance follows as the payoff for the impalement is realized: Pain will then be imperceptible. Cool. But the next scene shows a violent  archaeological dig into the depths of one's personal subterranean, nerve-knitted catacombs. The final scene involves the feared result of pickaxing down into the open pit of said catacomb: a springing forth of offending dead tissue, the likes of which resembles the opening of a prank snake can. I'm happy to say that my root canal experience today was nothing like the "mind movie" described above. This was thanks to amazing care by Dr. Carbone and his staff and--wait for the fanfare--the "magic sauce," nitrous oxide. From the moment I entered Dr. Carbone's office, I was treated with sensitivity and patience, starting with the receptionist and endodontic assistant and ending with the doc himself. I was given a blankie and urged to kick off my sandals and relax. And once that magic sauce was piped into my nose and flowing through my system we were in business! To my relief, the doc is a blessed gentle sneak with injections. And then, during the procedure, I overheard talk of playing Christmas music as part of a practical joke on someone else in the office who wanted Christmas in July. Soon the assistant, the doc, and I were snickering along to Karen Carpenter's Sleighride. I closed my eyes and went further into LaLa Land for some of the remainder of the procedure. All patched up and out of the chair, Dr. Carbone even let me look into the microscope and see what he had removed: Not a spring-loaded snake (hurray!), just a tiny worm, my tooth's dead nerve. So I just want to debunk those late night comedians (along with my overactive imagination) and say that if you have to have this done, have no fear. You'll be in fine hands with Dr. Carbone and staff. Oh, and get the magic sauce! read more

I typically don't write reviews but the costumer service I received here was absolutely amazing. They didn't hesitate to allow me to split up my payments in billing. Dr. Carbone got me in the same day I found out I had to get a root canal done and was nothing but gentle, kind and extremely informative with any questions I had regarding previous work, the current procedure and any futuristic concerns. The dental assistant was extremely kind and followed up the very next day to make sure I was feeling better and consistently asked if there was anything more they could do for me. As far as the procedure went, I went from 10/10 pain with a tooth infection to feeling absolutely amazing the next day. By far the best Dentistry I have been to in Boise. Highly recommend. read more

I would like to thank Dr. Carbone and his staff for such a memorable experience, not something you'd expect when conducting dental work. His staff was very helpful, friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. Dr. Carbone and his assistant briefed me on the procedure and what he hopes to accomplish. Unfortunately, there were some hidden issues that prevented him from completing the process, which he explained in detail. That reflects integrity, which means much to me. Excellent dental care!! Dr Carbone was very thorough and professional. I especially liked that he let me know what he was doing and if I was ok. Unfortunately he found the tooth had a fracture and recommended I go back to my dentist for further work. He did not feel putting a crown on the tooth that might fail in a year or so was cost effective for me. I appreciated the honest evaluation and recommendation. Dr Carbone provided great service but he overcharges and Sheri in billing is very rude to clients when you have a question regarding your bill. They will not work with you to discount your bill when they are an out of network provider. Disappointed in the Customer service of the office staff. read more

I am new to the area, and was referred to Dr Carbone for my root canal...nothing I really wanted, but very necessary. Dr Carbone was incredible! He was kind, knowledgeable, and took all the time I needed to have my questions answered. He was very gentle with the procedure, continually making sure I was comfortable. And, he uses a microscope as he works in order to be sure not to do a root canal that isn't necessary! Now, that's honest work! In addition, his staff, Vanessa and Sherrey, were warm and friendly and absolutely delightful. I've had three root canals previous to this one, and his office made this the best experience I have ever had. I can't say enough about Dr Carbone and his office, I give it a 5 star! read more
