Absolutely. I'd make it scathing but factual--that actually makes it more credible and harder for…read morethem to dismiss as an angry rant. I'd also frame the "extortion" part as how the experience felt rather than accusing them of an actual crime. Willow Tree Dental has changed dramatically under the new ownership, and unfortunately not for the better. Before the new owners took over, this was a reasonable dental office with reasonable options for routine cleanings and dental care. My recent experience felt completely different -- more like an aggressive sales operation than a dental practice interested in providing basic preventative care. When I scheduled my appointment for a cleaning, nobody told me that I would be required to have X-rays and a dentist exam before they would clean my teeth. Once the X-rays were done, the dentist came in and immediately started making dramatic noises and comments about how bad my mouth supposedly was. For context, I am extremely particular about my dental hygiene. I use a Sonicare toothbrush, floss regularly, and even own dental tools for maintaining my teeth between cleanings. I'm certainly not claiming that makes me a dentist, but I take very good care of my teeth and have had professional cleanings and scaling done before -- including at this very office. The dentist then chastised me for not having dental insurance, which was particularly off-putting. Once it became clear that I would be paying cash, I was presented with an estimate of approximately $1,600 just to scale and deep-clean my teeth. No crowns. No fillings. No repair work. Just periodontal scaling/deep cleaning. I've had this type of work performed here in the past without insurance and was never presented with anything remotely resembling a $1,600 bill. The part that really sealed the deal for me was that they refused to perform the regular cleaning I had actually scheduled unless I agreed to the much more expensive treatment plan. At that point, I left without having my teeth cleaned. The entire experience left me feeling like the objective was to maximize the bill rather than provide reasonable dental care. Whether their recommended treatment was clinically justified or not, the combination of unexpected required services, the dramatic presentation, criticism about not carrying insurance, a $1,600 treatment plan, and then refusing the cleaning I came in for destroyed my confidence in this practice. If you're considering Willow Tree Dental, especially if you're paying out of pocket, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any expensive treatment plan. This is simply not the same dental office I used to recommend before the ownership change.

Dr. Bluth decided I needed a root canal on tooth # 4 instead. $3,500+ later, the original tooth (tooth#2, the one that actually needed treatment), is causing massive issues. He did a root canal in the wrong, healthy tooth. This is backed by my referrals from my dentist. I'm in so much pain that I have almost gone to the ED on several occasions. (My dentist was kind enough to talk to me on his weekend and call in an antibiotic). Rocky Mountain isn't admitting fault (of course). I will be reporting Dr.Bluth to the Dental Association, the Idaho State Dental Board, and the American Association of Endodontics.

If you have read my reviews before you know I offer up the long and the short because sometimes you…read morejust don't have the time to read and sometimes, well, I don't know about yours but my life IS comedy & I try to share. Short: Dr Trejo and the team at the Eagle location are absolutely wonderful and incredibly ethical. Call Now. Long: It was the Thursday before Memorial day weekend and I had been preparing a veggie tray for a party. I had heard one odd crunch but, ya know carrots, whatever. Until it was time for bed. I brushed and had an increasing ache. I thought for sure I must have cracked a tooth! I was in a near panic. I might have to wait until Monday? Would I get an infection? Lose a tooth? I found a place in town that opened at 6:30AM and you can bet I was there - only to find out the DR wouldn't be taking appointments until 1:30PM, MAYBE I could get looked at today but I was told "The next appointment to TRY to fix it would be June 22!?" "Try?" People go a month with a cracked tooth? All I could think was that would be an infection for sure! In a panic I went home and started calling everyone - then (and I wish I knew her name!) a lovely admin at the Emerald location said they were closed but there was an appointment at the Eagle location in an hour. She said she would call and tell them I was on my way and would likely be late (Now I know everyone says it's "only 45 min to Boise" but apparently I drive slow? ) Can I tell you these people are the NICEST, like Trader Joe's nice! Every last one of them, from the lady who saw me at the wrong door, let me in and walked me through the office because the back door is in the front (What?! LOL! Don't whip in and park closest to Eagle like I did, go past there then around to the left.) The ladies in the waiting room to the hygienist who took my x rays and got me settled in. Everyone was so upbeat and friendly. Then I met Dr Trejo. He was incredibly kind. And it was at that moment that I learned you can BRUISE a tooth. Did you know that? Is this common knowledge? Sure, logical, teeth have nerves too but I struggled to believe him, LOL! Don't tell him but I googled it in the car, I really thought maybe he was just trying to help me not feel dumb. Of course I was equally relieved and so embarrassed. (Again, it's me feeling dumb all on my own they were so very kind) I happily paid that $150 thanking my lucky stars because how much is a crown? Sure enough it ached for the next day or two but it's fine now. Also, I should mention if you do not have dental insurance they have a $33 a month plan and it does give an additional 20% off any additional work. So, I hope you are reading this long version as you wait for your (actually pleasant) appointment and may you be as lucky as I was!

It genuinely breaks my heart to have to modify my review of this business, because I have always…read morebelieved that Dr. Grant is a very good dentist. Unfortunately, being a good dentist and standing behind the products you make for your patients are two very different things. More than two years ago, Dr. Grant made me an implant-mounted denture that cost me more than $8,500. From the very beginning, it never stayed securely in place while eating. Dr. Grant was fully aware of this problem. In fact, for the vast majority of the past two-plus years, I have been forced to use my old denture because it was the only one that would actually stay in place. I finally became frustrated enough to go back yesterday. Dr. Grant told me that the rings responsible for holding the denture in place needed to be replaced. He then stated that I had gotten "well over a year" of use out of the original rings. That statement is simply not true, and he knew it. In the more than two years since this denture was made, I have probably been able to use it for maybe a month total--and even during that month, the denture repeatedly popped out while I was eating. That hardly constitutes getting more than a year of use out of the rings. What disappoints me most isn't even the $250 charge to replace them. It's the principle. More than $8,500 was paid ffor a product that never performed properly, and instead of standing behind his work and making it right, I was charged another $250 for a component that, in my opinion, should have been addressed a long time ago. I have no problem paying for something when it has been properly made and has provided the service I paid for. But when an $8,500+ dental appliance doesn't work as intended from the beginning--and the dentist knows it--I believe the right thing to do is stand behind the product and the work. Dr. Grant may be an excellent dentist, but unfortunately, my experience has left me questioning whether he stands behind the products he provides to his patients. And that is a very disappointing realization after having trusted him with something that cost more than $8,500. It would be one star if not for the fact that as dentists and hygienists, they are awesome. This one just truly blew my mind

I visited this office earlier this year to have a gum issue checked out. It was swollen and they…read morewere able to squeeze me in quickly. When I got there they did all the X-rays, poked the gum, and then the resulting dentist came in and looked at my mouth for less than 10 seconds. He declared that we should remove the tooth, and then declared I had 3 cavities as well. They did not tell me to do a salt wash and see if the gum irritation cleared up, nor did they say to take any medication. In my shock, I scheduled a follow up to remove the tooth and fill in my new cavities. Then I got home and did some research. I did a salt wash for two days and the swollen gum went down to normal. Then I booked a secondary opinion appt at another dentist. Once again did the whole X-ray and other checks. Not a single cavity, nor did they think the tooth should be removed.
