Traveling for work and was looking for good New Orleans cooking, I found it here…read more I stopped for lunch, got hear right as the doors opened and the place was full by the time we got our drinks, good sign. Service was friendly and attentive, good atmosphere. The food only topped off the good first impression. For appetizers we got gator bites ( seasoning was so good they didn't even need sauce) second was the Andui and shrimp Mac & Cheese (amazing) I could have just eaten these and been satisfied. The shrimp and crayfish porboy was large and tasted so good, man the seasoning on the fries was so good. The batter on the fish was amazing as well. We left with food to spare and already planning on what we will get next time we're in town. And only 15min from the airport. Great job Lola!!

The crawfish was cooked well and had great flavor. The only thing we noticed was they were a bit juicy--we think they may not have soaked in the boil as long, which usually helps absorb more flavor. My husband really enjoyed them (this trip was mostly for him!), but they were a little spicy for me. I ended up getting a Caesar salad with fried crawfish tails instead, and it was huge--I only made it through about half. We also got margaritas during happy hour--both were really good. I had the lychee margarita, and my husband got the mango with a Cajun rim. Service was very good--our waiter was attentive and friendly. The only small downside was that we did feel a little rushed. It does say on the menu that they ask guests not to stay longer than 1.5 hours, so just something to keep in mind. They are pet-friendly, and we sat outside. There was plenty of outdoor seating, and the tables had umbrellas, which was nice. The only other thing we weren't thrilled about was the credit card surcharge--it was around 3-3.5%, which feels a bit high, especially since most people don't carry cash anymore. Overall, a great spot--especially if you're a crawfish fan!

An Incredible Small Business Serving Authentic Geechie-Style Cooking…read moreGeechie Garlic Crabs & Seafood - 1286 Yeamans Hall Rd, Hanahan, SC I had the wonderful pleasure of visiting Geechie Garlic Crabs & Seafood this week, and I couldn't be happier that the locals recommended it. Since I'm spending a few weeks in South Carolina, I've been searching for the real gems of the Charleston area -- and this place is absolutely one of them. Located in the shopping center off Sellers Rd / Yeamans Hall Rd next to the Piggly Wiggly, the restaurant feels like a true neighborhood spot. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by Miss Krystal, who was warm, welcoming, and full of great suggestions. My mouth was already watering just from seeing the menu in person after browsing pictures online. Inside, the restaurant was very clean, had great music playing, and even had a pleasant, inviting fragrance in the air. The whole vibe felt comfortable, open, and friendly -- exactly what you want when you're checking out a local small business built on pride and community roots. I ordered a plate with fried whiting, fried shrimp, crab rice, garlic broccoli, and six garlic honey wings because I wanted to sample a little bit of everything and see what the Geechie chef was working with. Everything was excellent: The garlic honey wings were cooked perfectly, juicy, and coated in a sauce that hit every note -- sweet, savory, and full of flavor. The fried whiting was seasoned well, fried to perfection, and the breading was on point. The shrimp were fresh, juicy, and tasted great. But the biggest surprise for me was the crab rice and garlic broccoli -- WOW. Both were first-time experiences for me, and the flavors were unlike anything I've had before. Unique, rich, and absolutely delicious. You can tell this place is built on love, hard work, and Amazing Geechie-style cooking -- the kind of authentic coastal flavor that you just can't fake. Nothing here tastes rushed or generic. Everything tastes handcrafted, intentional, and rooted in real culinary skill. Small businesses like this deserve all the support they can get. Your dollar stays in the community, and you're supporting people who genuinely care about the food they serve and the customers they welcome. Miss Krystal and the staff made me feel like family, not just another order. I will definitely be returning before I head back to Texas. I'm already planning to try the fried salmon and fried oysters, and I'm sure they'll be amazing too. If you're a seafood lover in the Charleston or Hanahan area -- or even just passing through -- do yourself a favor and stop by Geechie Garlic Crabs & Seafood. It's clean, friendly, and full of the kind of flavor you can only find in a small business that takes pride in its craft. This is a true local gem, and it deserves to be celebrated.

Because that's exactly where we were headed! And guess what? He said well I'll drop you off. Then we walk in the door and were immediately greeted by this sugar-sweet silky voice (ma'am, we are wondering do you sang, Miss K???). That friendly melodic voice coupled with the savory aroma of some unmistakenly good lowcountry cooking was all the welcome we needed. We knew we couldn't go wrong. We got the crab rice and they had yellow rice today so we subbed that, with a side of collards. We also ordered the smothered porkchop with cabbage corn and lima beans, plus cornbread. We smashed. Nuff said. Really though...best food and friendliest service we've had in the 3 days we've been here in Charleston. I felt like I was with family.

So we took an Uber there on our way to the airport, luggage and backpacks and all. The line was to the door. Most people get their food to go but there are a handful of tables in the dining room. We parked ourselves and our bags at one by the front wall and settled in for our fried porkchops and fried chicken, lima beans, cabbage, red rice, mac and cheese, and corn bread. And while we waited for our food, one of the kitchen staff walked around passing out free frozen punch. It was good! This was the perfect choice for our last meal in Charleston. We were in and out in 45 minutes, full and satisfied. The only thing is we are still confused about pricing. We think there was an error because somehow we paid $29 for one meal and $19 for the other. Can't be right...but we didn't have time to sort all that out. Pay it forward.

You order, they plate it, you pay and either take it to go or to sit in the small dining area. Service is very quick and efficient, and you can tell there are a lot of regulars who come here because the staff joked and laughed with them as they waited in line. Speaking of the line, it moved fast but while we were there a woman came around with a tray and offered little cups of brightly colored something. I chose red and was delighted to see it was a frozen punch, red is cherry. My friend got orange and he said it was like a mango or peach flavor. I ordered the fried chicken, with cabbage and red rice. The cabbage was absolute fire, it was so tender and delicious. The red rice was good, but a bit on the dry side. I feel like had I been there when a fresh pan was brought out it would have been a lot better. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked and had a flaky crust but it needed salt and the tables did not provide any. I would come back, there are so many other things I would love to try and this place is busy for a reason.
