I attended an event on this side of town and was looking for something new to try. This place is tucked away in a plaza. There's plenty of seating inside so we ate some inside and took some home. I saw people constantly coming in to pick up their orders which was a good sign to me. The portions were huge compared to some other places. The only thing I didn't care for was the hushpuppies. If this was on my side of town, I'd go by on the regular.
FOOD is great... I give only 4-stars because the Glass on all the windows and doors are drop dead FILTHY. For a food establishment this is un acceptable. My bone in catfish was excellent and not the least greasy. I substituted fried rice fore the French fries and that too was one of the best i've had. The little woman (i'm a smart ass) had snow crabs with corn and potatoes....again was good and will order again . BUT...did i mention BUT....bring you own METAL lobster fork and metal cracker because the plastic made life difficult. THe drinks were cheap and refillable..... The place is basically a Chinese fish and chicken take out with some seating. Please clean those windows. Because if the windows, where customers sit at are that filthy ; makes you wonder how clean is the kitchen. We will be back (hope management reads about the windows)
This is my first time coming to my place and I must say I wasn't disappointed.! This food was so good. It's made to order hot and fresh. The owner is very nice and very personable. She is going to make sure you feel welcome to her place. I definitely found me a new go to place, I can't wait to go try something else.
This may very much be my favorite place for fried fish, thus far. They have a nice menu with lots to choose from to create a fried seafood platter with sides. I LOVE the catfish. It's fried and seasoned perfectly. I normally pair it with the corn nuggets or fried okra. You could also select your ingredients for a boil if you wanted to head in that direction instead. Everything is cooked to order and it shows. The portions are also generous. Everyone is super nice and excited to walk you through the menu!
We had our doubts at first seeing how scarce the restaurant was, especially given the surrounding location, but I can ASSURE you: the pictures do not do this establishment ANY justice; the food looked bland and dry, BUT LAWD was it the opposite! We purchased the Cajun bowl for $51 and they did NOT disappoint. The shrimp was juicy and cooked with love, the crab legs were certainly worth the fight into the shell-- the meat was soft and cooked perfectly, AND THE POTATOES-- nothing short of delicious! They'd been drenched in the juice-- at the bottom of the pan along with the sausages, incredibly juicy and buttery eats, no complaints whatsoever, albeit-- all the garlic balanced out the slight saltiness of the boil, but they definitely weren't shy with the cajun seasoning. It was a great 10/5 stars! I'll be going to college right up the street and will definitely be pointing my buddies this way. Jessie, the cashier, was more than kind and welcoming, the wait for the food wasn't too long at all, given the fact that the meal is made fresh in store, from what we could see it was a small, lesser-known restaurant-- it was just Jessie and the cook-- but they were working hard and helped out with maximum discretion. Amazing people and restaurant, will 100% be coming back for some fried rice and shrimp!
This was my very first time here. I saw it from the parking lot which was semi-full. I walked in to a heavenly smell. I did ask the staff about the most popular items and went with the talapia and shrimp. I must say it was a lot of food and very flavorful. The staff were nice and patient with me. I do recommend this spot, especially if you want something fast and affordable
So I happened upon this place by luck. While looking for our hotel this restaurant was actually in short walking distance. We came for a late dinner and I ordered the pick two which was dried whiting so delicious and perfectly seasoned. The second item I picked was the fried shrimp which had about eight shrimp also perfectly fried and seasoned also very good. This order also came with fries and coleslaw. Every thing is piping hot and the menu is vast. The staff was friendly attentive and you have plenty of different condiments such as ranch, hot sauce honey mustard etc. I will definitely return soon since everything was excellent.
I think the portion sizes are nice. The food is really hot. I love shrimp and fish. the whiting especially.the fried okra is great. I love that I can call in and the food is ready when they said it would be. I took other people there and they all enjoyed it. The staff is friendly. I will be back. the onion rings looks good.
I was really in the mood for cod today and the other cod place in town wasn't picking up so I decided to give this place a try. Seeing as "cod" is in the name, I expected it to be decent. I ordered for pickup and the girl on the phone was very friendly as was the same when I picked it up. The place is in a fairly rundown shopping center but I still had high hopes. I was unfortunate let down. While the food was hot, that's where the pros end. The cons were that the fries were over fried, the tarter sauce was in a packet instead of home made and the worst was that the fish was bland and tasted like it had been frozen for too long. Definitely not fresh cod.

Great First Experience at COD Tail! After a long day at work, I needed a good meal and decided to give COD Tail a try. I ordered the fried flounder & shrimp with plain fried rice, and it was amazing! The portions were huge, the food was freshly cooked, and everything was full of flavor. The customer service was also very friendly and welcoming. I was definitely pleased with my meal and would order from COD Tail again. Highly recommend! read more

Decided to check out COD tail on a weekday night. The parking was very easy and ample and had no problems parking. Upon arrival, we placed our order on the counter and were surprised by the variety of options and the affordability of the menu overall. We ordered fried shrimp and a combo of catfish and shrimp, both came with fries and a soda. We knew it was all made to order to a delay was expected, what we did not expect was the length of the delay. There were a bunch of group orders placed over the phone before us which made our wait close to one hour. the food eventually came out, but the wait was painful . I kind of wish they prioritized in-house orders of people waiting instead of to-go orders , but so is the system. I think I will call ahead next time to make sure the food is ready when I arrive The food was good and enjoyable as was the staff who were super kind and working extra hard with the high volume orders. The decoration is nothing fancy and more of a very campy ocean theme which I personally found amusing. read more

Service was amazing, friendly staff.Don't judge this place by the area because the food was amazing! The seafood boil we got had shrimp,crawfish,crab,sausage, potatoes, muscles and corn. You can choose your flavoring as well which is very accommodating! 5/5 stars read more

Decided to pick up Cod Tail for dinner tonight and I'm so glad that I did! I ended up getting the fried shrimp (with fries) and lemon pepper wings to split with my husband. Everything was freshly prepared and we will definitely return soon! read more

Cod Tail Seafood & Chicken on Skylark Drive in West Ashley is a great place to go for all things delicious seafood and more. I really like the selection and way everything is prepared here. Good stop when you are hungry and need something good to eat. The staff here is very friendly and efficient. read more

Reviews had me go, the food itself had me go 3x in 2 days. Its the wierdest vibe (you can tell their working on decorating) but maaan is the food good! Corn nuggets, fried okra, shrimp and chicken breast (combo 5) wigh fries. Hot sauce is great too. 5 stars, no doubt! #takeout read more

First impression is very good. Not yet five stars, but very very good. I walked in yesterday on my lunch break. They have menus by the front door so you can view before going in, but they also have huge digital menus above the counter for you to look at. I was craving tilapia and wanted the #1, so that is what I ordered. Their Coke machine wasn't up and running yet, but that's ok because I prefer Pepsi. I chose the sweet tea instead. The food was made fresh and after no more than five minutes, my food came out. The to-go box was jam packed with goodness. Under all the food and paper, was a slice of fresh rye bread, that I used for half of the tilapia and some tar-tar sauce. The tilapia was flaky, cooked to perfection, and had a light sprinkle of salt on it after it came out that made it extra tasty. The wings were very good too. Nothing fancy, just little wings with big flavor. I finished this meal full and ready for a nap, but I had to head back to the office. Sauces are all pre-dispensed, so you can grab what you need on the way out without touching anything that other customers may have touched. Service was wicked friendly. I'll definitely be back for another lunch soon. read more

Ok sooooooo I saw a few Facebook friends talking about this place, what's funny it's next to a local Piggly Wiggly in West Ashley. I didn't notice it all. They opened two weeks ago. I tried their food on Thursday with just a simple order of fried shrimp to go along with some alfredo I had earlier...lol it was seasoned well. So I went back on Saturday 11/21 I bought 4 wings with shrimp fried rice an order of fried shrimp. My whole meal was amazing they even put eggs in their fried rice which I love and mixed with soy perfect to my likings. So I'm here currently an ordered a 10pc shrimp and 5 scallops substitutes my fries and coke slaw for shrimp fried rice additional $2 not bad at all. But a picture of Saturday's meal read more
