As someone who has been involved in martial arts for decades, I took the decision of choosing the right school for my son very seriously. After extensive research and careful assessment, OC Aikido stood out--not only for its long-standing legacy as one of the oldest dojos in Southern California since 1964, but also for its practical, thoughtful, and truly unique approach to Aikido. What sets OC Aikido apart is its strong sense of community. The members and instructors are more than just training partners--they've become like a second family. The environment is welcoming, respectful, and deeply rooted in the spirit of traditional martial arts values. My son has grown tremendously, both physically and mentally, under their guidance. The discipline, confidence, and joy he has developed through Aikido training here are beyond what we hoped for. I highly recommend OC Aikido to any family looking for not just a martial arts school, but a place where character, community, and authentic Aikido come together.

I've trained here for years on and off, and I hold all of Jean's assistant coaches in equally high regard. However, the facility's cleanliness is a major issue. The locker rooms and changing areas are consistently dirty and poorly maintained. To make matters worse, during my last visit, we actually saw a rat running through the gym. It's a shame because the coaching is some of the best in Orange, but the lack of hygiene is a serious health concern that needs to be addressed immediately. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and invests in a deep clean and pest control, as it currently detracts from an otherwise great training environment.

Master Clawson is so knowledgeable about the history of archery and anything related to martial arts. He is very open and gives direct feedback on form. His feedback is very helpful. He took extra time with the beginners to provide additional support. I enjoyed seeing the advanced members shoot their bows too. Getting to see that was very inspiring. I love that the environment is filled with respect and discipline. Such a great learning environment. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. If you are on the fence about taking a class here, just go for it! You won't regret it. I had a ton of fun shooting and I think I got a tiiiiiny bit better from the first class- yay! lol

They should definitely be updating that on their website and/or Instagram! I even checked both before driving there this morning.

Also for those that want to practice intensely, the professor allows that in a good environment for all skill levels. I think a lot of places, people can get hurt, but the studio has done a good job of preventing that kind of environment. The professor is accessible and always teaching class, which is a big bonus! Despite there being the typical rush that happens at nearly all major gyms, I've never really had a problem getting to the equipment I wanted to use or substituting it for something else. However, this review is regarding my most recent experience signing up my fiancée. She needed a gym to just get her walking and cardio in so I went in a few weeks ago before a workout and Chris helped me get her signed up with zero issues at all. I tend to ask a lot of questions when going through any process and at no point in me asking did he seem annoyed, pestered or like I was bothering him. He was so helpful in explaining the terms of the contract, cost and making sure everything was totally clear before moving forward. I appreciate that so much and it's obvious Chris cares about helping newcomers trying to get signed up. If you're considering stopping by even just to take a tour and see what's offered, Chris will take care of you without a doubt. Thanks again! It's super appreciated!
