We are from out of town and despite the snow storm my son was craving ice cream. JP Licks to the rescue! He says the Brownie Brownie Batter was AMAZING! Mind you it's March so they had a Jameson Irish Coffee ice cream that warmed my heart. The various cookie and cream varieties we taste tested were also notable, especially the peanut butter one. Noticed they also had a doggie ice cream option with peanut butter and honey! Wish my puppy was with me! Definitely would return and recommend anyone give it a try. Based on the constant line, it's safe to say that this local chain is a Boston favorite. I give it a solid four stars. I love that they have inventive flavors that rotate monthly. I ordered a small cone with strawberry rhubarb and banana cookies 'n cream. The strawberry rhubarb flavor was good, but I didn't really taste the rhubarb. The banana cookies and cream was delicious and packed with Oreo cookies. One star lost for prices (they're a little high). They were really good, but didn't have that ultra-creamy texture and flavor like some of the artisan ice cream brands do that are popping up lately. The employees are very friendly, but i don't like how you can't see the ice cream on display. It's all hidden in freezers behind the counter. I read about this place on Yelp and immediately bookmarked for my trip! I admit coming to Boston in November did not scream ice cream to me but thankfully while passing this place they had the magic words - Best Hot Chocolate! Ok sold, I'll go! The staff was nice explaining the different flavored. I went with the white chocolate and my aunt did the classic hot chocolate. While waiting for our drinks to be made I was pleasantly surprised to see "souvenirs" and they even had mini bottles of their famous hot chocolate! Small bottle but servers 12 drinks for just $3.99 I bought 2 for gifts to bring back home! The drinks were amazing! Just the right amount of sweet and the marshmallows made it even more delicious! The service is excellent. My ice creamery expert recommended the dairy free options that qualify for chocoholics anonymous - lots of chocolate, coffee and similar flavors.
