You can feel the look of the food that they have created for a one stop dining. It's been awhile where I feel in love with everything iv order an went crazy on ordering at that. Every dish was a HOMERUN. The time they took to prep it all an made sure it came out piping hot an season just right was perfect. Cameron my server was so peaceful an a breath of fresh air. He was the idel server one should have. He loves what he doing an it shows. An kudos for him not allowing anything to get in his way no matter the difference he endures. This place is awesome. The service is always great and the food is delicious. Took my employees here for a reward dinner. I had the Ribeye chicken fried, and one of my employees had the avocado tacos, and the others had their versions of the French dip. Everything was outstanding. For dessert, I had the bread pudding. Usually this would be 5 star because I love this place so much but walked in hungry at 830 and they turned us away saying they were closed... why does everything say open till 9 pm if you won't take orders till 9. It was a Togo order and they had a full bar sitting there drinking with full glass. This is extremely annoying considering how many times we have supported this restaurant. read more

First & foremost Gabby was an amazing waitress. I was obsessed with her. My sister and cousin have tried J Macklins for brunch a few times. It's so close to home I've always wanted to try. Convinced the husband and we were impressed. The portions are large. My mother-in-law enjoyed the left overs. I went for the Texas omelet and the hub went for the Benny. To be honest the star of the show were the scalloped potatoes. Every restaurant cooks their breakfast potatoes the same. I'm not a fan. These scalloped potatoes won in my book. I know I'm not delusional because my mother-in-law was also obsessed. We tried the Manmosa and Rose Lemonade. Super delicious. Last but not least the bacon flight. I now know I prefer floppy bacon instead of crispy. The habanero with chopped green onions was yum. read more

We really enjoyed this place. Started with Chips, queso and Parmesan fries and that set the expectations. Grits and Shrimp, chicken fried steak and a cowboy burger were all outstanding. Large portions, probably share in most cases. A little pricey but the food is very good. Restaurant was clean and trendy. Noise level was moderate. Been coming here for years as a very friendly neighborhood bar and grill. We like the people working there, as service is good. Owners have become very greedy with the bar. $8 for a draft beer before, $10 for house wine- the bottle being served at retail stores does not come to $10. Knowing 2 people in the wholesale alcohol business, the wine prices have not gone up, as there are too many producers in the business. Even Victors, a much nicer place, sells house wines at $9 and their beer is much cheaper. We complained, as did some others on the pricing, but we know bartenders have no say. We heard their Italian restaurant is doing ok, but not great, so maybe trying to make up some of those margins. Nonetheless, we will take our dollars elsewhere, as the 2 other couples agreed- they will no longer patronize Macklins. I would expect the response to be the Italian place is doing great. read more

This place is sooo yummy! I stopped by here with a group of friends (there were 6 of us) for brunch around 11:30am on a Saturday. Our server was so kind and extremely attentive. They have a brunch menu and an extensive alcoholic brunch drink menu. After 11am on the weekends they start serving lunch but before that they'll only serve what is on their brunch menu. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a side order of pancakes and a side of grits. All of our food came out within 10 minutes of us ordering and there were other groups of people there which was impressive! What I really like about this place is their portion sizes. They are practical for the price and you have enough food to finish your plate (I'm not a fan of brunch leftovers). The chicken biscuit is HUGE and one of their best sellers and I can see why. My pancake was INCREDIBLE. It wasn't too dense or fluffy and the flavor was spot on! Only thing is they served me cold syrup which was no good because my pancake got cold. The side order of grits was so cheesy. I saw it was jalapeno grits but it wasn't spicy at all. Only thing is it was maybe a small scoop of it served in a b&b bowl and it cost $5 which seemed a little high for this type of restaurant. Was it worth $5? Not really, but it was flavorful so I can't complain. I also got coffee with my brunch. This is the only thing that wasn't good. Stay away from it because the coffee was really watery. Stick with mimosas. Parking outside of the restaurant is tight so come a little early so you don't have you park behind the building. Overall, if you want a tasty meal, I would recommend you come here. All 6 of us finished all of our food and we were very happy! This place is just as good as I remembered 10 years ago. I got the veggie tacos and instead of corn on the side I substituted mac and cheese for an upcharge. It came with 2 tacos. The mac and cheese was amazing and flavorful and so were the tacos. The waitress was great and very attentive. I will be back before 10 years again lol. Please bring back the creme brulee. read more

I came here for dinner and it was filling and delicious! For apps we enjoyed the chip and queso - can you go wrong with chips and queso? Never haha. I enjoyed the steak with mushrooms and gravy with a side of asparagus and mashed potatoes. The meat was flavorful and cooked perfectly how I like it. My date enjoyed the salmon with rice and green beans. The gravy that covered the salmon was delicious! For dessert, we enjoyed the crème brûlée - it's our favorite dessert and it was a hit! I've been trying J Mac's often over the years and its been mostly good. Today however was very disappointing Food - i tried the roasted turkey sandwich. Very disappointing. Thin slices of meat, over powered by masses amounts of cheese and bread. This needs to be taken off the menu! Service - the guys behind the bar are too busy talking rather than servicing the customers! There use to be a girl bartender that was Great! The bartender was fantastic, otherwise horrible service. We arrived and sat at the bar before our reservation. We were then sat at a table by the hostess and never acknowledged by a server. We sat for 20 minutes before leaving without being acknowledged. read more

I chose the wrong day to come here - they were having a party for a football team so it was packed and incredibly loud. The service was slow because of the large group. That being said the food was good - I got the quinoa salad and it had some good flavor. I love that they have a French 76 on the drink menu, not many places do! I just wish that they would've warned when me when I was making a reservation that there was something going on that night as I probably would've gone somewhere else. read more

I just happened to run across this place and I'm so happy I did. You know you're hungry and don't want to waste it bc you had some nasty food and now you're full??? Well yeah, that didn't happen, I didn't even want to be healthy initially going to this place, I wanted fried everything BUT I said let me do a little better. I tried the lemon chicken skillet and it was very tasty!! I would get it again. Most places make that dry, non-flavorful chicken but this place got it right!! Thank guy for that J Macklin's!! I also tried a side of the Gouda Mac and cheese, now it cooked perfectly but I love pepper and a little more salt in mine but my bowl was still empty so let's just say - this place is worth the visit and I'll definite back to try something else or repeat this meal for sure! read more

First Yelp review for 2017! #1 This is the place to go for a smorgasbord of varies food which includes burgers, steak, tacos, salads, and sandwiches. Coppell has some of the best little eateries. This is yet another one! This is the first day of the New Year and nobody wants to cook today. My kids have been going here for some time and this is the first visit for my husband and I. Really was a great pick! The restaurant has a bar area for those that don't feel like sitting at a table. They have daily happy hour and daily specials listed on the blackboards at the rear of the restaurant. The restaurant does have live music, but tonight was just not that night. I'm guessing that live music is a weekend event. I ordered the Bacon Bleu, the poblano bacon jam left a delicious burst of flavor in my mouth with every bite. It simply lingered, yum! The Bleu cheese was an additional flavor that really made this one of the most delicious burgers I have had in some time. (Burger was cooked medium) Fries were a little on the soggy side, lacked that crispy factor. My daughter had the Black Bean Veggie burger with the best cilantro aioli sauce. She too had fries that lacked in the wow factor. They need to bottle that cilantro aioli stuff, it's that good! I stole her sauce. My son had the French Dip sandwich with unfortunately soggy sweet potato fries. It had a lot of meat piled on it from what I could see. Hubby had the Cheddar burger with a salad. I think I got the best deal with my scrumptious burger. Service is genuinely spot on. Refills and busing of the tables is a huge pet peeve of mine. Keep the customers water filled and the tables clean. Our server did an excellent job of keeping up with both. This place is really loud, I'm sure its related to the many TV's that surround the dining area.
