The wine tasting led by Joel (owner of JL Kiff winery) was informative, interactive, and very down to earth.

I did the red tasting flight which consisted of 3 pinot noirs, a merlot, and a tempranillo. Oregon is known for its pinot noir and those were the wines I thought were best. Niki enthusiastically provided information and details of each wine as she poured. I appreciated her honest insights and opinions of Willamette Valley wines and of various types of wines in general. She really made the tasting experience both fun and educational. The relaxed atmosphere of this place was perfect for sipping wine. I ended up leaving with a bottle of 2021 Tualatin Estate Pinot Noir which was my favorite of the ones I sampled.

Tonight we stopped in to grab a bottle of the Grenache from the Maison Bleu label. While I've already ordered a few, my shipment came the day before I left for Oregon and with this varietal coming from the Milton-Freewater AVA, I had to get it now! It was everything and more. Yum! Back to the tasting room... The vibe is chill and there's enough room in here for a few different sized parties. They have some great wine! And cool trinkets, oils and such. If you are in the area, please stop in, say hello and try the Grenache! You'll not be disappointed.

My husband and I are huge fans of Ricochet Wine, so we were stoked when we were finally able to…read moremake it to McMinnville to check out their new tasting room. The tasting area is a section of the winery itself, so you'll see winemakers coming and going, doing their thing, which adds to the whole ambience. Erich with Ricochet and his team have really done an awesome job setting up a fun, warm, relaxing spot for wine tasting. There are picnic tables, cozy little chairs and tables for two, larger tables for groups, and seating at the bar. There's also heaters around which keeps it warm (because wineries can get chilly!). What I really love is that you can not only taste Ricochet wines here, but also wines from their winery partners who also make wine at that location. I think there were 7 other wineries at the time, but that number changes. Tasting flights are $25/person (waived if you are a club member), and you can choose from either an all Ricochet wine flight or the Ricochet et al wine flight, which includes wines from other wineries. We did the et al flight and it was so fun to taste the differences in winemaking styles. So many great winemakers making delicious wines in one spot! You can also book a tour and tasting for $65/person. Definitely make a reservation for that in advance, although they do take walk-ins for the regular tastings. Our forever favorite is the Ricochet Tempranillo, made with grapes from the Les Collines Vineyard in Walla Walla. It's my favorite vineyard; every wine I've ever had from that vineyard has been amazing. Zane who is also the winemaker of Ze Wines was the one guiding us through our tasting, and Zane is always so knowledgeable and makes wine tasting FUN. The winery is located about 45 minutes to an hour from Portland, depending on where you start. I suggest making a day of it and enjoying lunch or dinner in one of McMinnville's great restaurants (Humble Spirit is a fave!). There's plenty of parking in the winery's parking lot. Definitely add this spot to your wine tasting itinerary! Take it from someone who goes wine tasting a lot: this is an incredible opportunity to taste incredible, unique wines (not just Pinot Noir!) from a lot of different wineries in one spot. We will most definitely be back!!

The person serving us asked if we wanted to buy a bottle, and we said yes, but then he would pour us tiny portions and take the bottle away. He then asked if we wanted to try something else after the first pour. This further confused us since we thought we bought the bottle. But we the assumed we must not have if we was asking if we wanted to try something else. So he brought out an another bottle and did the same thing. Small pour and walked away with the bottle. We were late for another tasting so asked to check out. We noticed we were charged for the two full bottles but we never finished them. Then got a text later from the winery saying they forgot to send us home with the rest of the wine we had purchased. So turns out we had bought the two bottles but were never served the whole bottles. We said we were flying home and unable to get them and asked for a partial refund. They refused. Safe to say this one of the most bizarre experiences we've had at a winery. The customer service was lackluster. I saw other reviews about them being pretentious and I would have to agree. We will never return to this winery, will no longer purchase their wine in stores, and will actively advise friends to do the same.
