I had an appointment in January and shortly before I was to go, I got a call that I needed to reschedule because Jocelyn couldn't make it. I agreed, because well, things happen. Absolutely ruined my hair. I called for the appointment and they took a deposit. I asked how much the highlight for long hair will be. They quoted me the price. When I was sitting in the chair, the hair stylist said it will be $260, which is three times the price they quoted me. But I'm already there and they have my deposit. After they finished my hair, which took 5 hours!!!!!! Wow. I knew, that something was wrong, because the lady kept dumping a ton of hair masks on me. Massive high recommendations to AnnaMarie!!!! Adult salon...took my 6 yo daughter with a lot of welcoming!! AnnaMarie was so sweet with her and gentle! I went to this salon twice for a shampoo and blow out. I had a cast and couldn't wash my hair on my own so I searched for a local salon with good reviews. Which is why I'm writing this review. It's NOT a good salon, and I wish I would have known. First time I was there: I was quoted $37 for a wash and blow out. Not bad. I told her I have a sensitive scalp, esp to heat and she took this as no scalp massage during the shampoo, which sucked. I also felt like she didn't double shampoo and didn't get the back of my hair by my neck clean bc she never lifted my head or told me to lift it off the shampoo bowl. When she blow dried my hair, I reminded her about the heat and how she can't get close to my scalp with the hot air. Well she did, and it hurt. I also got burned by it bc my scalp in the back was on fire and had all of these little red itchy bumps. The entire time she was trying to convince me to get my hair dyed there. NO WAY. I only use Aveda color on my hair. Period. I made an appointment with another stylist for the same thing. My head was so itchy from her blow out, and after 2 days my hair looked oily which never happens to me if I double shampoo. I contemplated not going back, but wanted to give it another try bc it's so close to my house. Second time I went in, I got a stylist named Natalie, and I let her know right away that I can't tolerate heat on my scalp AT ALL and that I needed a double shampoo for real this time to preserve my style for longer than 2 days. She did a great shampoo, and the conversation was nice. She finished my hair and I went to pay. The total this time was $44. I was like excuse me? It was $37 a few DAYS ago... then I got told that she's a level whatever and she can charge more. Apparently without even telling the client . How is a shampoo and blow out a skill? It's the same with EVERY stylist, it's LITERALLY the most basic thing a hair stylist can do. I understand the price difference for cut and color, but my 13 year old niece can shampoo and blow dry her hair. It doesn't need skill. I felt taken advantage of, but paid it anyway with a nice tip. The tip was also weird, I put in my card and before I could even ask how to tip, she asked me how much I wanted to tip, and right in front of the stylist too. SO TACKY. Real upscale salons never do that. I left and was stopped at a red light and took a selfie when I noticed that only ONE side of my hair was curled! So uneven!!! She also never showed me the back which was also a mess. I got home and called the salon. I got snottily explained to that they don't curl hair in a blow out and I'm like well she curled ONE side! She said I could come back in for them to fix it, but I hate sitting in a salon chair for hours, and I have a busy life so I didn't want that. I want to walk out of ANY salon looking perfect. Isn't that what we pay for?? And at $54 for a shampoo and blow out I better look like a movie star. This is Odessa, NOT NYC. I went to this salon to get my hair done so it didn't look like I fixed my hair with one hand, which is EXACTLY what I ended up looking like . I asked what else they could do besides coming back in or later and there was no response other than come back in, which at this point was something I didn't want to do and my anxiety made me feel like it would be awful to go back in after complaining. So I asked for a refund. WELL! Apparently when you ask for a refund at J. Joseph salon you will get BANNED from not just the salon you went to but ALL J. Joseph salons! FOR REAL. WTF. Oh and the reason for the banning? Because, "they train ALL of their stylists the same way and if I ask for a refund, then they're not a good fit for me." WOW. Literally that was what I was told. Which isn't even true! I got charged different prices for the SAME service and they both came out COMPLETELY different. Well... with the exception of both being BAD. So I guess they train ALL their stylists to be bad? Part of me was like GOOD, ban me, I was never planning on going back anyways, but wow, what audacity. And I didn't even get banned by a manager, they had the front desk girl tell me! I was shocked and asked for a call from a manager, because now I want to make SURE I get my refund which surprise surprise I never got. SO... either the front desk girl made it all up, or the managers there are lazy and don't have time to really help clients. I mean what kind of manager tells the lowest paid person in a salon to deliver a message like that?? Either way, this salon is AWFUL. I showed my friends and they all agreed it looked terrible. They try and up sell you on several services you don't need. I have never paid this much for a highlight/lowlight and it didn't take completely through my hair. There were 2 other customers that walked out when I was there. I was at my appointment for 3.5 hours which is unheard of. Most of the workers have to continue to ask for advice from the manager. I went in with boring, flat, dark brown hair and left with a bright, dimensional red hair. I gave Mike a picture and he delivered + more. My hair is THICK and he went through and highlighted with a weaving motion in perfect sections. He is so detailed and took his entire time and all of his energy making sure I left feeling confident and happy(which I did). If your not sold yet, just wait. This process was long. And the entire time he was worried about making sure I felt comfortable. Always offering me water. He gave me alternatives instead of sitting in the bowl, he wrapped my hair and allowed me to sit in a comfortable chair. AND after this, Mike asked if I wanted my hair curled?!?! I was in shock. I do NOT recommend this salon or the stylist Emma for color. I just moved to the area so I was looking for a new stylist. I went to J. Joseph Salon in Odessa for color retouch. I get all-over color and my roots had grown out considerably. My roots came out as dark as when I went in there. They look even worse because the color is now reddish-brown. When I got home, my husband said, "I thought that you got your hair done". When I called J. Joseph salon the next day so that they could fix it, I was told that Emma said that I would need highlights to get my color blonder. I have not had highlights for at least 20 years- my previous stylist (Tamara at Red Salon in Fort Myers- great stylist!) had no problem getting my hair blond with all-over color. These people are ARROGANT and INCOMPETENT. Do not waste your money! They are not cheap, either. I wish that I had paid attention to the poor reviews. read more

My kids and I have been going to J Joseph for years. Our stylists recently left, which gave all three of us the opportunity to have Mikayla do our hair! I've followed her Instagram for about a year and always wanted to try her, but felt bad switching from my norm! Needless to say, as expected, shes amazing! My girls are 9 and 12...took them for cuts and styles last week and they LOVED her and their hair! She made them feel so comfortable and they were just both so happy! Absolute worst salon franchise ever. Jeremy Bisono a "manager" did my hair. He had an "assistant" Jada Rose Wilson. He did not ask me if she could work on my hair just let her. Come to find out she is not licensed. Did not even take her test yet. She was mixing my highlights. Did something awful to my hair while washing the highlights out. I have never had someone rip my hair out like she did. They put me under the heater 3 times. Needless to say they completely destroyed my hair. I walked out with half the hair I used to have on my head. And half the hair that WAS left is all broken and destroyed due to whatever Jada was doing to my hair in the sink. They should both be fired. A refund should be given. It's unbelievable that it cost $513.00 and they could care LESS that it is going to take years for my hair to grow back.
