Carol immediately made me feel comfortable. She was warm, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took one look at me, helped me find the right size, and somehow got it right almost immediately. What could have been a stressful and discouraging shopping trip turned into a genuinely positive experience. Carol made me feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable in my own skin. I wasn't too sure if Marshalls would carry it but Target didn't have any and figured I would just check out this store. The employee I first saw in the beauty section told me she wasn't sure if they carried it, but if they did, it would most likely be in the home department. Luckily my husband was spotted a mesh bag, but it was a bonus item if you purchase dryer balls. I decided to purchase it (since I had just told my husband earlier in the day that we are almost out of dryer sheets and he thought maybe we could try using dryer balls to see if we like them). But for those of you that may be looking for a mesh bag for laundry, I didn't see any (other than as the bonus item with the dryer balls set). After this, I ended up browsing the clearance section (which is also in the home section, in the very far corner of the store) and found some really great deals. The store has security personnel as well as staff that restock during open hours, and some that monitor clean & spacious fitting rooms. The store has something for everyone at affordable prices! They display/sell clothing (all ages), shoes/socks, luggage & travel accessories, handbags/belts, jewelry (with attendant to assist), kitchen/bath/yard-ware supplies, organizer items, furniture, linens/bedding/bath supplies, paintings, frames, small exercise accessory equipment, gourmet gift foods, hair/nail/skin/handcare supply aisles, stationery and Arts & craft items, pet supplies/treats/bedding, other home decor, you name it! Disappointing Experience -- Staff Conduct Reflects Poorly on a Worthy Cause…read more I want to start by saying that I genuinely support the mission behind Discovery Hospice and have visited this thrift store with that in mind. That's exactly why my most recent experience was so disheartening. While shopping, I came across an item I was interested in purchasing, only to find it had already been set aside in a pile of other merchandise -- reserved by an employee for herself to buy while she was actively working her shift. Customers come to this store to support hospice care, and it's unfair for staff to have first pick of inventory during store hours, pulling items before shoppers even have a chance to see them. The situation worsened while I was waiting in line. The customer ahead of me had spent a considerable amount of money and was interested in an item kept behind the counter. She was given permission by staff to step behind the counter to photograph it and send the image to someone she was considering buying it for. Rather than honoring that graciously, the same employee who had been setting merchandise aside for her own purchase made a comment insinuating that this customer -- who had just made a generous purchase supporting hospice care -- might be there to steal. It was uncalled for, disrespectful, and uncomfortable to witness. To top it off, when I brought my own item to the register, it was clearly marked with a yellow sale sticker, yet the cashier attempted to charge me full price. I had to point it out myself to get it corrected. This store exists to support a deeply important cause, and the community deserves to shop here with confidence that they are being treated with honesty and respect. I hope management addresses these concerns seriously, because the conduct I witnessed that day does not reflect the values that Discovery Hospice stands for.
