But I will be back for the others!

I once had made a gift exchange with my mini black glass canister for a "Spray the B!#ch Away" during the white elephant gift event. That was few years back. I used that spray to create a mist before bedtime, and that was a pleasant scent. Too bad my whole family didn't like that scent, not even my ex-wife. Thus, I'm the only one who can have it in my room in case I get annoyed. Back to the latest. Sweet strong scent from diffusers and sachets, sweet customer service, and a sweet atmosphere that brings positive feelings in one whiff. Though each of the purchases were still expensive, the one for $15 was the French lavender essential oil. Not as strong as my Bulgarian version in a tiny cobalt glass bottle, the French lavender will be good enough to help me relax. I have yet to use it after I use up my Bulgarian version. Anytime of the day, I can only smell with or without opening its tiny bottle. *Sniff*, *sniff*! Aaah! Aromatherapy at its very best!

Each location has a curated hard-to-find collection, but this location is larger than the other branch and it's surrounded by other boutiques. You can get sample vials for $6-10, which you can often get back if you buy the full bottle. We loved Circue de Soleil, which smelled of buttery popcorn, cotton candy, and caramel apples, and Mango Sticky Rice, which smelled of mango, rice, and sticky. We didn't like the Katie Holmes, which smelled of bad acting, smirks and flop sweat. Is there a better experience testing fragrances? Nobody nose!

Pro tip: smell scents you like outside in the fresh air. The inside air smells crazy bc of all the sprays. 1.5ml samples are available at great prices. I've been here a couple times now to smell on my own and get recommendations from the staff. Both times, I was periodically approached by someone asking if I needed any help. I told them the notes I was looking for, and they brought out a mini line up of 6-8 fragrances for me to smell on my own. I appreciate this approach as you feel like you can smell on your own time. On my second visit, a staff member approached me and asked if i needed any assistance. I was ready to purchase some samples and asked her to look for 3. I waited in the corner of the store for several minutes, seeing her look in the sample stock for a bit, but then she came back into the main room without approaching me. I let her do her thing for a few more minutes but it appeared that she was helping other customers by then, so I asked if she had found everything. Only then did she tell me they were out of one of my 3 samples. I eventually replaced the 3rd sample with something else, but I didn't like the customer service during this visit.

Michael Ryan went above and beyond to help me replace the perfume I lost after purchasing it in Italy. He even drove to the Valencia store to pick up a tester for me. The customer service here is exceptional, and I couldn't be more thankful.

The staff have all been extremely friendly and helpful every time I have come in. Michael pulled so many fragrances for my husband and I to check out and we fell in love with more than we could walk away with!! On previous experiences, Emma has lined up fragrances for me to try, and on another occasion, Emily helped me choose fragrances to gift to friends. All the staff I have worked with are very knowledgable, friendly, and there to share their love of perfume. The selection is inane - I feel so lucky to live nearby and be able to stop in frequently, because there is always more to explore and smell whether it's a house I haven't tried out yet or a new release. On the weekends it's normally pretty crowded, but I always see the staff looking to help those exploring fragrances. One of my favorite spots in SF, truly. Thank you to the whole team at Ministry for making it such a special place!

The prices here are not too crazy. A lot of these essential oil/soap stores will overcharge, but I thought this place was reasonable. You can get a small bundle of items for $28, a potent diffuser with 15 mL of essential oil for $18, and the soap bars are around $5. They also have a happy hour sale! Very worth it for local, small batch scents, which I usually see going for more. The two women working there today were super welcoming and sweet as well. I will definitely be coming back :)

We walked in heading towards shoes, but got severely distracted when we looked over and saw Jo Malone. It went downhill from there. What can I say, I appreciate quality! Danielle, our Saks and Jo Malone representative did an amazing job. I have been to the Jo Malone boutique a few times; however, Danielle's patience, enthusiasm and conversing really made the experience. She explained how to layer the fragrances, and gave us a lot of samples to smell to find what we liked. She did not up sell, and patiently waited while we were deciding which products and sizes we wanted to purchase. I will come back again, and specifically order through Danielle. One nice perk is that if you book with multiple people, you get a small discount, which made it even more worth it. In total, I paid $180 including tip, and honestly it felt like a great value. I've seen color analysis services elsewhere that cost significantly more. The session itself was really helpful. It confirmed some things I already suspected about what colors look good on me, but it was great to have a professional walk me through everything and explain the reasoning behind it. Hailey didn't just cover clothing colors, she also talked about jewelry, hair color, makeup shades, and even patterns that work best. For anyone curious about the process, here's how it works: 1. You book your appointment online 2. Fill out a short questionnaire when you get to your appt 3. The session starts with color swatches where Hailey walks you through which colors work well on you, which don't, and why 4. Then she continues the analysis using slides on a laptop, showing examples of flattering jewelry tones, hair colors, makeup palettes, and patterns 5. The session ends with a Q&A where you can ask questions about your results It turns out I'm a Dark Winter, which I was really excited about! I chose the standard session, which lasted about 50 minutes, and honestly I found it detailed enough that I didn't feel the need to add on the extended analysis. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend it to others. Now the fun part begins! I need to go through my closet to donate colors that don't work for me and replacing them with ones that do!

I'm really particular when it comes to scents, and I detest most colognes. So when various visits to Macy's, Nordstrom's and other department stores failed to net me anything other than the usual stable of main-brand colognes, I had to dig deeper. Enter The Perfume Company. This little kiosk on the second floor of Westfield has a deep selection of brands of perfume and cologne. They had the exact Kenzo scent I was searching for, at a price about $10 cheaper than the last time I bought it (at Duty Free, no less). The dudes running the joint were friendly enough and they have a return-customer discount deal - 10% off the same scent. All you need to do is bring the receipt back in (like that's going to happen). Despite this kiosk being in the middle of mall-town chaos, it has the deepest scent selection of anything in the area. And the prices are fair.
