Crisp, clean, classic describe my favourite parfumier, Jo Malone. An esthetician, believing heavily in the 'power of touch' Jo soon became very popular for giving wonderful facials. A luxurious skin care line followed, and then fragrance design; Jo Malone has been celebrated for ten years.
Her beautitul boutique on trendy Sloane street in London's Knightsbridge borough, envelopes you in an indulgent sense of Zen-like calm, with the cream, and black interior with touches of glass, marble and chrome surrounding you. One cannot resist sampling every fragrance, (while sniffing coffee beans to clear the sinuses) or at the touch of a button, spritizing yourself in the "Fragrance Booth".
Fragrances are designed from six categories: floral, green floral, woody, spicy, citrus, fruity. In addition to perfumes, bath/body collections, candles, linen/room sprays, services of everything from Fragrance combining to massages and corporate gifts are offered and Virgin Atlantic gives her popular travel kits to their Upper class patrons, a fact that vexes me greatly!
A devotee of six years, I enjoy Red Roses, Tuberose, Vintage Gardenia, and a new scent, not yet available here, Nectarine Blossom and Honey, a very warm, summery fragrance that calls to mind fresh, ripe necatarines and seductive, sexy nuances of honey.
Service, exceptional. Your purchases are nestled in classic cream and black boxes, hand tied by a shop assistant with black grograin ribbon and placed in a signature bag with black tissue and another ribbon. Sign up on their mailing list in store, they will send you notices, catalouges as well as samples of new scents, no matter where you are in the world.
Now owned by Estee Lauder, Jo still has her hand in it. Smaller versions of the boutique are located in Saks and Neiman Marcus for those who can't get to London on a regular basis.
A departure from the mundane world of cloying commercial scents, Jo Malone is for the woman who dares to be different read more
