I do love a local spot don't you? Even better I love a good local spot. So lets start off with ambiance. Cuz its basic but thats about what I expect from smaller spots. Its got american bar themes, beautiful exposed wood, beams, and a little fireplace. Its cute, a little loud but again its a bar&grille style so what do u expect? Service was solid. Our waitress was attentive but not annoying. Food came out in good order, we had enough time to eat our apps before our meal. All was good and bellies were filled. So on to the food. First and foremost I love the nightly specials. We came in on a Thursday night, anyone following my reviews for a while knows I love an oyster and Thursdays are oyster night! So yes, I had some they were delightful. Next up is the crab dip, its solid but I've had better ones around here. I feel like it lacked seasoning to some degree it was really just cheese and crab. Then me and my wife both got burgers! Word to the wise, be smart, order a rare burger because both of ours came out overcooked and we asked for medium. In town for just a few days visiting with friends and they recommended going here. Not a bad choice. Since it was Monday, it was Burger Night. We all had delicious burgers. They were juicy and cooked properly. Our server, James, was friendly, helpful, and appropriately attentive. Ambiance wasn't anything special...but I wasn't looking for anything special. We are leaving a review for the Route 24 location. Can say without a doubt the WORST burger I've ever had. It was bland and dry. The fries were over-salted. My wife also had a burger and she said the same thing. I could not even finish the burger and for anyone that knows me that is not something I ever do. Save yourself. Average place for bar food with a seafood emphasis. The raw bar was a nice addition and the draft beer list was better than expected. The vibe was very much an 80s dad bar. My biggest pet peeve is with a restaurant being inconsistent. A couple of weeks ago I had a great meal as well as others that were with me. Started with the crab balls with cocktail sauce and then the sauté soft shell entree; have to say I loved my meal. This past week went back again and was going to have the exact same thing then changed the app to the seared tuna with wasabi, pickled ginger. The tuna was just ok, definitely lacking something ( I should know better than keep ordering tuna out). Then the entree The soft shell crabs again. This time they weren't as good as last time. They came out on the dry side, basically no sauce, just don't know why. The same happens with a burger, one week it was perfect medium rare, then this week over cooked. I eat in and take out there for years; and find take out is wrong or missing something important (like dressing for salad), way too often. tonight I ordered a medium-well cheeseburger and got home with a burnt hockey puck of a hamburger. when I went back i tried to tell the manager the possible reason was the person answering phone kept reading back order wrong as well. Then ...He did the same! Less than five months later he broight me a bag and asked me to check it. it's not possible to cook a burger in five minutes... sure enough it was about raw- his response? Went on Burger night my daughter thought it was bland. Went on Prime Rib night the Prime Rib was excellent. Service is always great tho. My guess is they serve so many burgers, it's possible that they didn't season it? I'd give them another shot! read more

The food was great here! We had a few dozen clams which are always my favorite. Then we tried the fried shrimp and some crab cakes. I couldn't get enough. The drink menu wasn't anything special, and there were a few things on the menu that weren't available that day, which was a little disappointing. But the food that I did try hit the spot. I am hoping to go back in the future to try some of those things I missed out on. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. read more

We came from out of town went to the 5 star restaurants in this area and they were just ok. Not sure why they were rated so high. we decided to try local off the main road restaurant. the music was very loud actually very good but too loud. we went upstairs were it was less noisy. service was Awesome quick friendly and clean. the Apps were fresh and the main course was equally delicious and the crape desert was second to none . price was lower then the the 5 star restaurants. we are going back today for more. I went here on a whim because I had some time to kill before a meeting, and it was a Wednesday, which means that they were offering their $15 fish and chips. So I went with that. I'd have to say that I was less than impressed. While there was a lot of food, and the coleslaw was very good, the fish was the greasiest fish I've ever had in my life. I literally had to cut the fish out of the coating to eat it that way. There was a little pool of grease in my plate underneath the fish. The fries were nothing to write home about. They tasted as if they had been sitting around and reheated. I assume that that is what happened because if it's $15 fish night, maybe they were going to sell a lot of them and wanted to be ready. I would definitely not order this again. In fairness, maybe they have other food that's better, but I'll never get this again at any price. The dessert was a different story. For $10 I got the Deluxe Waffle Bowl Brownie Sundae, a really good sized dessert that had warm brownie triangles, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream with a cherry on top and all of it in a waffle cone bowl. It was actually very good. Overall, for the amount of food that I got it really wasn't that expensive. I just couldn't get past the greasy fish. Maybe I'll try them again and try something different. read more

Visiting my Brother and SIL, this restaurant was recommended by a neighbor of theirs, good choice. We throughly enjoyed our meal, 2 fish and chips, one shrimp tacos and a Cajun catfish. All very good, and did I forget the dozen oysters we enjoyed. Our server Karly was very apologetic for the delay, but we were so engaged in conversation we hardly noticed and didn't mind. But that didn't stop me from giving her the a Bronx NY goodhearted hard time, but she gave it right back. She has a great personality and will do well in whatever she choose to do in the future. read more

Service was terrible. An hour wait for a party and slow service and non busy night, absolutely unecessary.

Unfortunately, my husband and I will not be returning. Upon arrival, we were sat at a table directly underneath not 1, not 2, but 4 large speakers that were connected to the tvs in the bar area (NOT where we were sitting.) We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer, listed as coming with a "toasted baguette." SPOILER ALERT, it's just a hot dog roll. It was cut down the middle (like a hot dog roll) but at least the top was sliced (not the bottom.) Furthermore, the roll was not big enough for the amount of crab dip they gave, so if you wanted to finish the crab dip you would've had to ask for another one. My husband and I did not, as the crab dip tasted fishy and under seasoned. Our main entrees were the "steakhouse burger" and the "tex-mex burger." The steakhouse burger was fine, except for the fries being cold. My husband's tex-mex burger consisted of the burger, cheese, largely cut and unripe avocado chunks, and pico de gallo. Poor guy, his whole burger fell apart after 1 bite. He was able to eat his fries though, also cold. The service was alright, I mean it's hard to hear anything so what can you expect. Went for dinner last night for Thursday night oyster special. The local oysters were fair at best. Ordered the soft shell crab dinner and the blackened tuna. Both were not eatable. The soft shell crab ($30.00) was deep fried and had what seemed like half a bottle of capers just dumped over it. Had no flavor except the saltiness from the capers. The tuna ($26) had no taste except for being salty. We complained to the waitress and they only comped us 2 drinks we had for $22. Will not be going back any time soon. read more

Came back tonight with a party of 8 at 8:15pm and they closed upstairs and told us 25 min wait. I would have been fine with that but the people calling the shots were maybe 15 with an attitude that we had the never to show up so late and the 50 year old at the host stand seemed lost trying to roll silverware. read more

8/21/24 sadly food was not as good as it's been in the past few years. Amy was great. Oyster appetizer was cold, mussels no longer come in the garlic/butter, French dip and stewed tomatoes were good. be careful with your receipts. I lost my receipt and when I got my credit card statement, I was charged at least $80 more than my bill was. I was there for happy hour and sat at the bar. The food was good but very upsetting when you get your Credit Card statement and an extra $80. read more

We recently had dinner at J D Shuckers on Route 24. Our appetizers were delivered after we had finished our entrees with no explanation. I asked to speak to a manager. When he came I requested that the appetizers we compted or to take them back and take them off the bill. The manager did not offer to comp them but did take them off the bill. Leaving the restaurant I asked the hostess for the owner's name. She asked what the problem was and when I explained, her response was, that is was a little problem, she had big problems to deal with. She also mentioned that it was a holiday week and they were busy. Later that evening I sent an email from their website directed to the owner and explained the situation. I did not get a response. There were so many ways this could have been handled better - for one the waitress could have let us know about the wait when we ordered the appetizers and we would probably have ordered something else. I go to Lewes Shuckers for HH often. Last night, I sat at the bar instead of a high top, and watched the bartenders imbibe at least two drinks each in the 45 minutes I was there. Food is good, especially burgers and fish & chips, but bartender got my drink order wrong. I originally thought he misheard me, but perhaps with all the drinking going on behind the bar, he was likely high. Rethinking my HH options now. Sad! read more
