We had a very good experience with J.D. Ferro roofing. Franco has apparently recently taken over the company and I found him to be extremely professional and someone who cares very much about doing a good and complete job the first time. It is clear that he takes great pride in his work, and I found the work to be top-notch. Our old rubber roof had started to leak into our bedroom. Franco and I went out on the roof and identified the problem areas, and the errors in the original installation. His communication was excellent, describing exactly what needed to be done on the new roof and how they were going to avoid recreating the same errors. Their work came in at the quoted cost, even though the cost of some of the materials had risen during our wait for the job. It has been nearly a year since the work was done and the roof is holding up very well and we haven't had to ask him to come back for anything. We have two more sections of roof that will need replacement in the coming years and when they do, we will call J.D. Ferro roofing again. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY! We had J D Ferro Roofing put a roof on our house in 2008. They were recommended to us because of their fine reputation. The representative said to me that this roof would still be a selling point even when the roof was 20 years old. This job has been a disaster. Within five years, water was pouring into a downstairs room. We asked J D Ferro Roofing to help us with this problem, but they were too busy and the job was too small for them to do anything substantial (they patched it up once). We had another roofing company do another temporary patchwork job (they were working in the neighborhood and I asked them to stop by). Their effort lasted longer than Ferro's, but again we now have water pouring into the study when it rains and we have to address the problem more permanently and expensively. We also had squirrels in the roof because J D Ferro Roofing had not sealed the roof sufficiently. We spent $1,000 repairing this problem. THIS COMPANY MIGHT HAVE BEEN TOP-RATE IN THE PAST BUT THIS IS NO LONGER TRUE. Not only was their work sub-standard, but they didn't even have the decency to help us fix the problems they left us with, even though we were willing to pay. Caveat emptor--buyer beware! I recommend going with a different company and avoiding J D Ferro Roofing. read more

I cleaned someone's gutters. The house had a new roof installed last year installed by Jd ferro roofing. The gutters were clogged with prices of roofing shingles, Nails, staples.... Now who is supposed to clean up after the roofers???? Not the roofers. read more

We had a great experience with JD Ferro replacing our roof. We had the roof completely replaced as well as repairing several places that had damaged/rotten wood and taking down an old chimney above the roofline. They were professional, did a good job communicating about the work and schedule, as well as a good job cleaning up. There was a long wait due to their prior commitments, but they were very clear about their prior commitments and schedule up front so we knew what we were getting in to in advance. read more

I needed a modest-sized roofing job done and asked them out for an estimate. The fellow who came was very pleasant and professional and gave an estimate that seemed reasonable to me and seemed based on a good understanding of what needed to be done, so I signed a contract with them. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. I sent several emails over the summer and got replies like "well, I'm not the one who sets the schedule" "You are on our schedule and we will get to it as soon as we can" and so forth. I waited ALL SUMMER and finally when the weather had turned so cold last fall that I figured they weren't going to get to it at all, I cancelled the contract in disgust. I have no idea whether or not they do good work but I'd advise against going with them if you want your job to actually get done. read more

These people are not the cheapest roofers you will find, but they are first-rate. David Spalding is a conscientious, thoughtful man who really knows his business. He keeps his word, gives accurate quotes, responds to problems right away, and works hard to solve roofing problems that are preexisting. We have had different roofers over the years. We always come back to Ferro because they stand by their work and are top rate. An example: they keep track of all conversations about the jobs they have done. This way, they can tell how the roof is doing and address any concerns. Roofing in Central New York is tough work and these guys do a great job. I am really happy with the work they did for us on our flat roof, MCM home. Gorgeous. Get your plans early. Well worth the wait. read more

Do not use this roofing company. They left some debris in the yard and was not thorough. The employees also took too many breaks. In addition, they overcharged and were too expensive compared to other roofing companies. The initial contract was reveiwed but in the end it cost too much and there was too much pressure. read more
