Jcrew has long been a fixture in my closet dating back to the blue/ivory anoraks I used to treasure! I had taken a break from the store in the last few years as I work with a lot of stores within my job and have found it important to support them since they are my clients. However, I had seen a lot of things that caught my eye and decided to go in today. There were 3 people in the store...my mom, another lady and myself. There were 3 employees. Not one employee said hello, asked if we needed anything or even, as my arms were piling up with items, offered to start me a dressing room.
Chatting amongst themselves, straightening t-shirts and sweaters was their priority. After 30 minutes of walking around, still no hello or help, we found our own dressing room, got our own sizing from the store when items did not fit and cleaned up the dressing room upon leaving.
I found items that worked well for me so even though I was annoyed by this point I went to the cash register to pay. The sales associates first words were, "Was anyone helping you today?". We said no and she never replied just started to ring me up letting me know all sale items are final sale. At that point, when someone says nobody was helping me, should some customer service alarm go off in the associates head to say..Gee, I am sorry about that!?!
I purchased several hundred dollars of items and while that is not a record setting day for J Crew it is a lot of money to me and for that amount of money I truly wish a friendly hello or how can I help you would have come from anyone employed there.
I love the items I purchased and will continue to shop at the JCrew online but will not be going back to this store at any point.
Everyone has an off day, myself included, but for 3 employees just to walk around and never help was pretty bad. read more
