10-30-24 Came shopping on King Street for the first time and was so happy to see a J. Crew. They have been in my wardrobe for many years. Once inside was pleasantly surprised at the large selection of clothes. Being a creature of habit I go to try on a navy blazer with pin striping. Didn't love it so FaceTime my sister for her opinion. She said what else do they have. So I found a lavender velvet blazer and matching pants. This outfit called to Me when I went through the door. So I tried the pants on and they looked great. Nice flat front. What a great outfit to brighten up my existing Fall wardrobe. I went back to the sales associate Emma who was assisting me and asked isn't there Family and Friends sake and she confirmed these pieces we're on sale. So I get to the register and they are 30% off plus an additional 15% off. If I was a cardholder I would have gotten 20% additional instead of 15% off. Definitely a great sale for what I got. I even got complimented by another customer at the register. The cashier asked if I would like to get the item hanging and was given a nice garment bag for the jacket and the pants were placed in a bag. So very happy with my purchases. Definitely will return on my next visit to Charleston as I live two hours away to the South. read more

Worst customer service I've experienced in years. Walked in and no greeting and no other customers were in the store just 3 employees with one being the manager bc I asked at checkout. Employees were working on visuals in the center of the store. I picked an item, went to fitting room and checked out... no one recovered the lack of service even when I asked about manager. The manager should have come over and inquired and introduced and welcomed me with my friend. The response was yes that's the manager... are you an employee? Ha! But I've been in retail management for 13 plus years and there is a protocol for all points of service they clearly neglected. The checkout wasn't more than pay and leave. Sad for a great brand to be represented so poorly. Maybe that's why the store was empty on a Sunday afternoon with clear sky's. Ridiculous bc jobs aren't easy to find. The only thing they had was a visually appealing store that the DM probably is deceived by. read more

On my most recent trip, they were having an event so my husband snacked on food while I tried on a shirt I'd been wanting. The employees were all welcoming and the cashier was friendly. This store is decent. The selection isn't the best. The layout of the store is good so it's easy to navigate between sections. They have a decent selection of fashion jewelry and accessories. The women's shoe selection isn't that good. The associate on the floor was friendly enough. read more

The J.Crew on King Street in Charleston is a cool place to shop for clothing and accessories. They have everything that you need for casual, business, and everything in between to look your best. This store has a really good selection and I am able to find some good items every time that I come here. I like the vibe and feel of this store as it is clean, well decorated, and has plenty of open space to walk around and feel comfortable and not too crowded like some other stores on King Street. The staff here is very helpful and attentive and makes sure that they greet you and that you have all of the help you need. The store is well maintained and operated and I have been impressed with their consistency and quality. read more

Over the years, I've shopped at this J.Crew store many times. However, I find that they aren't well-stocked with a variety of sizes. I suppose in an effort to keep a boutique feel, they may only get 2-3 of each size of an item. So, I typically order my J.Crew items online and use this store for returns when necessary. Employees are friendly and helpful. Nearby parking usually isn't too hard to find on weekday afternoons/evenings. read more

I just find it so sad that there is NO good mens clothing stores in Charleston (that I found). I know.. How could anyone not give JCrew a great review? When it is in Charleston, SC! I travel often and adore this brand and the clothes. I have never thought about the service the sales staff gives until I came here a few times from the Spring on in 2012. The sales staff here is an abomination compared to stores in other cities such as Chicago, NYC ( all over) San Francisco, Florida, Boston... The staff here is snobby, arrogant and not too bright. In the south I have never encountered a certain Southern snippiness but here- well that is what you have. The clothes- yeah, great. I just purchased a suit and dress shirt from the J. Crew downtown and could not have been happier. The men's stylist, Diego Castro, really knew his clothing and helped me out tremendously. I've been a regular J.Crew shopper for years and loved the store in Greenville, SC. The staff there were always helpful and friendly. The King St. store, on the other hand, needs to get over itself. Sure, it's in a prime retail location, but it's still a J.Crew found at pretty much any mall across America. It's not some bespoke design house but mass-produced clothing with a reasonable price point. I've been to the King St. location twice in the past month and no associate acknowledged my existence or even said hello; they only seem interested in talking to each other or friends that walk in. Today, I decided to pop in to see if they had a pair of jeans I saw in their catalogue. After 15 minutes trying to get someone to help me find a size I walked out. Like J.Crew on a whole other level than the dang gap across the street or the lame Old Navy in Town Center like stop being annoying squeakers and go spend your money here. Snobby Director and Store Assistant. So, I shop at J Crew a lot and the staff at the store know me very well. They have always been nice and courteous until today. I bought a pair of distressed jeans and when I sat down in them, the poor threading became unraveled (other online reviews also speak to the poor quality of these jeans). This was the first time I had worn them, and the first time this has ever happened with anything that I had bought at the store. So, I went in and asked what their return policy was as I had the jeans at home, but could not wear them for the reason stated above. I spoke to the Director and he informed me that he had to see the jeans, as he may have to send them to their seamstress, so as to save money instead of just exchanging them. I was of course shocked. I interpreted that as him saying that "I" could take a loss but not his store?". I believe he was fair when he said he had to see them, but he should have left it there. Who buys jeans for $125 to have them patched up by a seamstress after the first wearing? I thought I was being punked or something. Had I bought them for $5 I would not have returned them as I would say that I got what I paid for so to speak. Anyways, I went home and got the jeans and returned to the store, where the assistant that was there earlier told me the same, sending them to the seamstress, I said "NO", I am not wearing patched up jeans from J Crew. So, she then proceeded to say "because we know you, we will do YOU the favor of just exchanging them".However, although I was happy about it, I was left feeling awkward as her face clearly did not reflect her happiness to please a customer. She brushed me off when I was trying to ask further questions as if I was a pesky kid. It was a long day for me, and may have been for her too, so I will not hold it against her. But for future customers, a smile on your face and politeness goes a long way, as yes, customers can return defective merchandise. Now, I am completely turned off from the store, and will probably stick to online shopping or just continue to buy my jeans at their sister store Madewell. read more
