Truly nice find in Greensburg. What I like: 1) Free parking on the street after 5pm this day, Friday. (Don't know and couldn't easily find out via Google the weekend parking meter hours). 2) Outdoor dining on the enclosed patio with umbrella-covered tables. Nicely decorated. 3) Three choices of Reisling by the glass from 6 to 10 dollars. I chose the German one for 6.00 and was very pleased. 4) All home-made salad dressings -- 15 of them. I chose the peppercorn ranch and it was memorably great. 5) Pasta Primavera with pesto -- very very good. 6) The indoor décor looked nice, as well. 7) The price for the 2 of us with 2 glasses of wine, 1 salad, and 2 entrees was 59.00. Just had an amazing dinner at J. Corks! I had the Faroe Island Salmon and it was perfectly cooked. My partner has the Shrimp Pasta and the noodles were delicious. They have an extensive drink menu with wine, cocktails, and beers. I would come back just for the drink menu. We also ended the night with the crème brûlée and their raspberry cheesecake special. This was one of the top meals we have ever had! It ranks right up there with Vegas and NYC steakhouses! Our waitress, Ginger was absolutely amazing and added to our wonderful evening. The drinks, atmosphere, music and ambience were perfect! They followed Covid guidelines and we felt completely safe to the point we almost forgot there was a pandemic! My husband and I went here for our 10-year anniversary. We started with some cocktails and I got an espresso martini, one of the best ones I have had in a long time. We got the mushroom bruschetta for an appetizer which was just perfect. The mushrooms were nicely sauteed and had a nice woodsy taste. For dinner I had the scallops with butternut ravioli and sage butter. Let me tell you have been craving that everyday ever since!!! JCorks stepped up when our bridal shower closed with only 2 weeks to spare. Nancy helped us secure the venue and JCorks outdid themselves. The service, the food, every single member of the staff...from front of the house to kitchen staff...completely top notch. Everyone worked so hard to give our future bride a gorgeous shower. What a hidden gem in Greensburg. We've been waiting 9 months to get here and today was the perfect time. Lunchtime this time, dinner next time. We were seated quickly. The hostess did a great job explaining the lunch menu. She even brought us a dinner menu to look at. Drink choices were amazing. A couple beside us got the special, 1/2 off all bottles wine!!! My wife had the bacon chicken sandwich and it was extremely flavorful and moist. Her side of fruit was perfect. I had the petite filet sandwich. The horseradish sauce was excellent and my steak was cooked perfectly medium with no gristle!!! I chose the soup of the day "Gumbo" and I wasn't disappointed at all!!! A few years ago my office started going to J Corks for 1/2 price bottles of wine to celebrate any special occasion. Last night it was to celebrate my last week of work. We ordered a few bottles of wine and several appetizers. I am never disappointed by anything I order here. The food is amazing. My only compliant is they will not split checks for groups over 8. I called earlier in the day to make a reservation for 12 and no one mentioned this information. We weren't told until we were already seated at the table. It definitely made for an awkward conversation as many times people come and go through out the night - some drink, some eat, some eat and drink - and we never had an issue being able to pay for our own items. It's an awkward place to put your guest. We did end up leaving to go eat dinner elsewhere. read more

My first time at J corks! I would like to preface my review with a disclaimer: I am not a chef, i have never taken culinary courses and my opinion is just that- an opinion. We first had the Thai calamari appetizer for $14. Very generous portion and a tasty Tha sweet/spicy sauce. Would definitely get again. We ordered two separate cocktails, one with bourbon and one with Rye Whiskey. At first glance, the cocktails seemed top tier. They were definitely priced as such ($13,$14). They were mixed with seemingly quality syrups and bitters, but they used regular old ice cubes which really take away from the taste, and the ability to sip. Would not recommend. For dinner my wife had the crab cakes which were cooked perfectly and not heavily breaded. I had the filet which I also have no complaints. I couldn't help but feel that something was missing. No salads or bread were given, even though our entrees alone cost us $80+. Maybe the quality of their food/ingredients is so high, which justifies the price. I hope that's the case. All in all I don't think I would come back unless invited by a friend. read more

Recently dined at J Corks 8/26, 2023. The food was terribly below standards. Served cold and totally unappealing. What was worse was the service. The waitress was outright rude. Talked to the owner, who did not deal appropriately with this problem. The ambiance was disgusting. NO CLASS. Cutoff shorts and dirty T-shirts should be discouraged. All in all, I would warn consumers to avoid this establishment. I will NEVER SPEND the exorbitant costs for a meal here ever again. read more

We were in area for weekend in mid-May. We had dinner here on Friday night. My wife is vegan and owner went above and beyond to ensure Chef could create a dish for her, which she loved, thank you. She said it was fresh and delicious. I had the crab cakes for dinner, which had minimal to no filler, just pure crab, was truly amazing!! Had business dinner there Thursday night I. The bar lounge. Started with a fig martini, it was very nice. Different. Pretzel app was very good. Soft pretzel topped with nice amount of salt and butter. Yummy! Had the filet special with lobster cream sauce. The filet was a bit more done than I liked. Tasty but quite heavy. Crème brûlée to complete the meal. I must not have paid attention to this one but it was quite watery on the bottom. Brûlée tap was good. The best of the evening was our waitress, very attentive. J. Corks dresses up well for an renovated old lady (Elks Lodge) in the middle of Greensburg. The space is nicely appointed and the service is first rate. However, judging from our two meals, the emphasis is more on attractive appearance rather than great taste. Son and I came in for dinner on a Saturday night. Without reservations, they still found a nice table for us mid-floor in a large dining room, and graciously said nothing about the overly casual garb displayed by my teenager. The menu was interesting and the surrounding guests looked to be twenty and thirty-somethings out for a nice dinner. Drink prices were reasonable and the beer list diverse. Our appetizer Pulled Pork Nachos was very good. Multi-colored chips loaded with mildly spiced smoked pork, cheese and a mellow creamy drizzled chipotle/mayo dressing, rather than hot salsa. Quickly devoured. Son ordered the sole beef burger on the menu with fries. It arrived the desired medium finish with garnish atop, but the word was that it was not very tasty. He regretted not asking for ketchup on the side to add moisture and flavor. My Meatloaf was wrapped in Bacon and sat on a platform of fresh al dente Asparagus and well Roasted Potato quarters. The taste was fine, but the loaf was dry and the brown sauce had a pinch too much salt. Loved the A'gus and Taters. Add back in some moisture to the meat and this meal would have hit the spot. Delicious food, nice wait staff. Came on a week night after 7 pm and there was no wait to be seated, wasn't overly crowded and was actually quite private/quiet where we were seated, which was enjoyable. Had the pepper jack spinach dip with pretzel and chips - delicious with plenty of food for two people to split as an app. I ordered the filet and it was fantastic. Easily one of the best I've had, even when compared to filets from other restaurants. The Mac n cheese and asparagus sides were delicious too - overall worth the price. My bf ordered the lamb bolognese ragu and it was amazing. Very generous portion, too. To all the people whining about not having bread - get over it. Who wants to fill up on cheap bread and butter when you have huge, flavorful meals being served to you?! I like bread at OG and Texas Roadhouse but come on...that food isn't even comparable to this place. And decor-wise, you're in Greensburg. If you want some swanky, hipster place with a modern look and feel, then drive elsewhere b/c you certainly know Greensburg isn't that type of town. read more

This is an amazing restaurant. Had lunch here and told Danielle that I was immunosuppressed and she provided a table in a corner. Very safe atmosphere. All staff in masks. Cory was an awesome waiter /bartender. The goat cheese salad was delicious and enough for two. The crab cake was without filler - superb! And the sweet potato fries with maple syrup dipping sauce eliminated the need for dessert (although we got some to go). Cocktails are creative and a generous pour. Restroom was very clean. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and really enjoyed this place. We were early for our reservation so we sat at the bar and had a cocktail. The bartender was very attentive and nice. Our table was near a beautiful fireplace which was great on a chilly night. I had the braised beef ribs and my date had the filet mignon. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and served piping hot. A nice place that tries too hard to be a "classy" restaurant. The menu is a typical American style with everything from spaghetti to burgers. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is a house converted to house many seats. This is a common thing in South Western PA and usually means crowded seating at peak times. I'm not a "big crowd" kind of person so I try to take my wife at off times so we can have privacy.probably the only outstanding thing I have tried here is the French fries. Everything else is good but not outstanding. They really try hard to have a high class feel but location, facility, and menu hold this restaurant back. It's small and cute- it's got kind of a low-key upscale vibe with the molding on the wall, lighting, being downtown, and the usual go to spot for a nice dinner for locals. The food is alright. My most recent visit here for lunch was especially good, and I will start off by saying that the crab cake sandwich was one of the best I have had in the greater Pittsburgh area (considering Greensburg is not even close to being a seaside town with ready access to freshly caught seafood). It was just perfectly seasoned and balanced without going overboard on pepper and sauce like some other crab cakes I've ordered. I truly wished I could have ordered another one to take home for later, but it was a bit pricey. Our server was friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience delightful. Overall, I was very pleased with my meal and the atmosphere here. I am withholding a full rating only because my last two experiences were a little underwhelming for the price you spend to dine here, and even then I'm not someone with super high expectations/standards. During my previous visit, I ordered a steak "medium rare" and it came out so overly cooked and blackened that I thought maybe the lighting in the kitchen was off because they couldn't have intended to burn it so badly. It was really like eating a piece of charcoal and so dry and tough that I think even a "well done" steak would have been preferable to that. I rarely ever leave a place with so much as a bite of food left on my plate, but I just had to send this back. Also, our server at the time was very condescending and made me feel like maybe I wasn't exclusive enough to be a dinner guest. Perhaps he was more concerned with giving better service to the wealthy lawyers at the other table, but I felt disappointed since I always try to tip well above the recommended 20% in restaurants and this bill in particular was quite high. Overall, the food and service is hit-or-miss on the half a dozen or more times I've been here. When it's good, it's very good, but when it's bad, it's enough to make you regret spending your money here. I really want to love this place because the food and service have been so good before on other occasions, and it definitely deserves credit for that. For future visits, I think I will stick to the dishes I have loved and make a point to seek out the staff who have been exceptionally kind and personable. read more

Great experience for lunch here. I sat at the bar and had a cup of their crab soup, very flavorful and full of crab, roasted corn and tomatoes. I finished my lunch with an awesome goat cheese and pear salad. Breaded and fried goat cheese was awesome!
