*This company is now in Ontario. Bought a women 7 speed cruiser. Positive: 5 stars on function. Handles well and is ergonomic. Front sales person and back repair person deserve 5 stars as well for great customer service. Negative: they need to post on their website a disclaimer that price doesn't include assembly of $35. I didn't know this until I arrived at the warehouse. Aesthetic: scuff marks on front rim and front fork. I ordered a bike and received it exceptionally fast. It was delivered in one day. That deserves 5 stars. BUT... The bike I received is not the bike pictured. The bike I ordered had a brown seat and handlebar grips, which gave it a more retro look. I received a bike with black seat and grips. Not that big of a deal, but I wanted and expected the brown. This would have put my review at 3 or 4 stars. The bent rear wheel is a problem. It can't be ridden as it is. Currently the bike is unusable. I've been trying to call for weeks and cannot get anyone on the phone. I am wondering if the stores are even open anymore. Since I cannot reach anyone at JBikes I've called other store to get a quote for replacing the wheel and it's almost $100. The bike was $179. Thoroughly disappointed at the time. If I could reach someone at this business to help my review might be different. But as it is, it looks like I just through away $179 plus shipping. If I could leave no stars I would. I will update my review if I can ever reach someone in customer service or at the store to help me. I give Jbikes (and Danny's comment) FIVE STARS!!!! They've been in business since 2006 but have only received a few negative reviews over the net - big deal. If I am looking to buy stylin' looking bikes at near wholesale pricing, I don't expect them to roll out the red carpet upon my arrival either. I think alot of customers walk into a store nowadays and expect to be treated like royalty when they don't want to pay full price for anything. Offer them a discount on top of already the discounted price and instead of being appreciative, they also want a free bike lock, a free basket, a free bell, and " how about throwing in a free basket liner, by the way?"... Try walking into Wal-mart and see if you'll get away with getting any "free items" along with one of their crappy bike that is going to fall apart within months. I am great friends with many people who are in the bicycle business and they all have had experiences where far too many times, customers are not willing to pay an additional $20 or so for assembly service, and when they run into problems while assembling the bikes themselves, they claim it is a "manufacturers' defect" and expect to have the entire bike replaced. Sorry, the only thing to be in defect is their wallet since they're never willing to open it. ::shrug:: But, that's only my own opinion. I wish I could've read David R.'s response to Danny's comment because I probably would've laughed my butt off. Who goes on Yelp to complain about not being greeted at a store? Last year, I bought a bike from JBikes. While I was there, the workers were very respectful and courteous. They answered all my questions and even gave me an amazing discount. It's my go to place if I ever need to buy a bike. Other bike stores I've been too have all had problems, such as rude workers or less than satisfactory bikes. I too read a lot of negative comments on JBikes. My son had bought a bike from here recently, so I like to go where it's kinda familiar. My daughter needed a bike so off we went. Got there early on a weekday, so we just waited for them to open, and went in when they did. It's kinda a cut and dry place, they need some music going to brighten the mood. The lady was very helpful, she has a nice smile, she just needs to use it more. The first bike my daughter sat on the rear reflector broke off, that's okay stuff happens. They don't allow test rides, so that's a bummer. Basically you see you buy, and go from there. Once we found one, they put the pedals on, asked questions about warranty, and off we went. As a non-local internet purchaser, I found them to be a bit mom-and-pop about processing my credit card and getting my order out the door: made the purchase on Monday, didn't ship until Thursday. A little unsettling when you're giving people your CC over the internet and definitely not the norm with internet credit card processing these days. As I am also in California I was assuming that by purchasing on Monday morning, FedEx ground could easily get me my bike parts by Friday when I had a ride scheduled. Ok Prices, bad service. CAN NOT try before you buy. I shopped around online looking for a nice cruiser for the girlfriends birthday. I found jbikes. So I took a little drive from Culver City to City of Industry to go buy a bike from jbikes. They had good prices online and no tax if you pay cash. The place is very small. You CAN NOT try the bike before you buy it. You CAN NOT even sit on it. Never heard of a bike shop where you CAN NOT try it before you buy it. Would you buy a car without trying it first? The guy helping us didn't seem to care one way or the other if we were there are not. They didnt have any of the advertised specials from their website. I would NOT recommend going here and I would NOT recommend buying from them. We went to bikebuyers.com location. The girl helping us there was very helpful and actually cared. The prices were about the same and still no tax if you pay cash. Best of all, the girlfriend is happy with her new bike. read more

I should have read the reviews... Drove 30 miles to their retail location bought a bike and some accessories, then 30 miles home. Got home and the light kit didn't work. Emailed them told them that I wouldn't spend $10 in gas and an hour of my time for them to replace the $10 defective light they sold me. After spending over $250 of my hard earned dollars, I offered to pay for shipping (what a joke) and they said I would STILL have to go to their store to get the replacement. EF YOUR STORE POLICY. Ruined Christmas.... I ordered a special Santa gift on Dec 21, and paid extra to get it under the tree by Christmas morning. It was the "Big" one, so you can imagine how disgusted I was was when I opened the box X-mas eve and all the bolts weren't there to put it together. It still sits on my back porch waiting for the bolts in the mail--6 days after the big day. Any other day things would have been fine, I can understand, but companies know who we are buying for when it is days before Christmas. They should have double checked the box. Bottom line, they sent part of a bike, not a whole one. The seat is not put together and the fender is resting on the tire. It would be dangerous and stupid for me to put my child on it, but they say it is operable because their policy is they return the shipping fees if the bike can't work. Not sure what their standards are, but I would never let any child ride a bike that was not fully assembled. The bike is very pretty, fast service--poor customer service. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I ordered a bike off the Internet from this company , checked my account information to ensure right address. When they sent the bike thy did not include my apartment number and put stipulations on the FedEx delivery that if it wasn't deliverable they would have to call to correct address . Tried all day to reach this company by phone and even though I was number 1 in the queue no one ever came to the phone and it eventually hung up on me, sent in help desk request no answer. Terrible service and terrible craftsmanship! My fiance's bike fell apart and he suffered a horrific accident but they wouldn't replace the bike and the chain fell off causing him to skid on the pavement. Upon returning the bike an older Asian man took it to the back warehouse and put the chain back on and told us to leave that it was good as new. Although they do have low prices the service and selection is lacking. I ordered a bike online after sorting through all the bikes that weren't in stock. I had to settle for my second choice. During the order process there was an error loading one of the pages, so i was unsure if it actually went through. on monday I called to verify the order and the guy i spoke to said the order went through and to allow a day for processing, which is understandable. on tues i received an email saying the bike i ordered was out of stock and they suggested an alternate. i agreed to the alternate and asked for upgraded shipping for my inconvience, i was told no they couldnt change the shipping. a few hours after that I received another email saying my order had shipped and was to be delivered wed. but the fedex site never said my order had shipped. note this is all after the money has been taken from my bank account. i have sent another email asking were my order is and havent heard back yet. although they have the lowest prices, i have paid for something i dont have and don't know if i will receive it. Well I received my order today which was shipped 2 days after they initially said it was. I sent an email asking what was going on and didn't get a response. My order was incomplete and missing mounting hardware for the basket I purchased. sweet. Horrible customer service. I asked that they have the bike assembled so that I could pick it up and go. They did not. I had to wait. The bike has scuff marks on it and they told me to use nail polish on it. Why should I? I bought a brand new bike. The bike is making loud noises when when I ride it. I took it in once and it wasn't fixed properly. I called them to ask if I could go somewhere close by or speak to their manager about other options since I didn't want to drive 2 hours each way to Ontario for the third time, and they wouldn't even let me speak to their manager. I ordered a basket for my bike from their website, and even though their site says they ship in 1-2 business days, it took them 9 days to get it in the mail. And even though I paid extra for shipping to get it sooner, it's now been nearly 3 weeks and I stil don't have it. In the age of Amazon, such a rediculously long turn around time, especially when your site says otherwise, is really unacceptable. Oh yeah, I emailed their customer service department regarding the delay,... dead silence in return. If your looking for the Christmas spirit don't come here.My daughter and I drove 45 minutes from Orange County after locating Js bikes on the internet and finding the bikes that I was shopping for might be in his inventory. I was completely let down as I arrived at the location that they wouldn't even allow me to use the restroom. He made me drive down the street to use a public restroom and even after returning to his store he refused to even ask if I needed help. And then after reading the sign on the wall, stating no refunds, no exchanges, no exceptions. He sold me on finding a new place to shop. After leaving the store, I found a new bike shop that I was able to purchase the 3 beach cruisers and the accessories I was looking for. The price was a little more then J's but the customer service was 100% better and worth the money. So think twice about coming to J's bike shop. The WORST customer service ever!! DO NOT BUY A BIKE AT JBIKES (either the Ontario or La Puente store, or on-line). Seriously, I have never in my life had such a crazy-bad experience with a store, and thank goodness I can warn people on Yelp! I drove 60 miles (round-trip) to pick up a bike that Tammie at JBikes agreed to transfer to the La Puente store and hold for me under my VISA card. I drove out to La Puente that Saturday as planned, but I accidentally left my wallet at home and didn't have my credit card with me. Even though they had the card number (and I knew the security code and expiration date), and I could have purchased the bike over the phone or on-line (i.e., without showing anyone the card), and even though I got someone from Bank of America (the issuer of my VISA card) on the phone to approve the transaction, they wouldn't let me buy the bike. I told the salesman, Nick, that I would return on Monday (the very next business day) to get the bike (since the store is closed on Sundays, which is a huge inconvenience for customers who work during the week), and Nick told me that the bike would continue to be held for me under my credit card. (BTW, no one at the La Puente store speaks English except for Nick - - who is only there on Saturdays, which is why I waited until Saturday to drive out there). Since I knew that there was no one at the La Puente store on Mondays who speaks English, and I don't speak Chinese, I called the main (Ontario) store FOUR times on Monday, and each time was automatically put on hold for 5 minutes (i.e., NO ONE answered the phone at the store for an entire day!!) and then was transferred to an answering machine. I also sent two e-mails. NO ONE RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS OR MESSAGES. I was trying to reach someone simply to make sure the bike was still there before I made another 60-mile round-trip drive - - and thank goodness I called to check! When I called again first thing on Tuesday - - and finally was able to speak to someone in sales - - I was told that the bike that was supposed to be on hold for me (and was the last one of its kind in stock anywhere in Southern CA) had been sold ON-LINE on Sunday (when the stores are closed). The salesman didn't even apologize for their total screw-up. These people are TOTALLY INCOMPETENT and DO NOT CARE about their customers. The sales people don't know much (if anything) about bikes, and (unlike almost all bike shops), they don't allow customers to test ride any of the bikes!! I know a lot about bicycles, and it's very important to test several bikes before you decide on one, since there are differences which can affect comfort and safety. I had tested the bike I wanted at another store, but that store didn't have the color I wanted. And JBikes' prices are the same as all of their competitors, so they don't even offer any good deals. On second thought, however, maybe things worked out for the best. I'll have to wait another six weeks to get the bike that I want (which is currently on re-order), but I won't buy it (or anything, ever) at JBikes, and (at the bike shop where I plan to buy my new bike) I'll be dealing with a reputable bike shop which has a great mechanic, where everyone speaks English AND knows a lot about bikes, which offers free service for the first year, which is open on Sundays, and which is close to where I live. If you decide to buy a bike at JBikes anyway, don't say you weren't warned!! read more

Worst shop ever. Worse customer service ever, they try to sell you anything and overcharge for labor. I came back with a question on a tube and they try to answer with short answers and rush me out the door. They tried to charge me to put air in a tire. The guy had to use a pump he was selling on the floor to try to pump a French tip and then tells me he can't because he doesn't have the adapter. So what if I paid him the $20 service to do my tires and he couldn't fill it with air? Stay away and go up the street for better service and prices read more

Went to go see their bikes, good variety. All bikes were outside assembled except for pedals. You can't test ride a bike, only sit on them. When I had picked the bike I wanted, I was told there is a 10% discount for paying in cash but only on the assembled bike. Now, there is a $35 charge for the assembled bike so I asked for on in a box - they don't have any there and I would have to come back on Monday for it. So if I wanted to leave with a bike that day, I would have to take the assembled and pay the fee....... Sales teams was not friendly at all and didn't seem to care that I wanted to take a bike home today.....I believe they only carry assembled bike just to get an extra $35 out of people...such a scam. Some bikes were scratched and most of the emblems of manufacturer were falling off - so they could be fakes. Waste of time!!!!!! read more

Called jbikes to inform them I received the wrong colored seat. I now have to take a picture, send it to their claims department for them to review my claim. HELLO - you guys sent me the wrong item. No QA here. I would not recommend ordering anything from them on-line. They obvious have not heard about customer service and QA before they ship bikes out. Man I wish I could give zero stars. These people are the worst and once they have your money, you will be on your own. They apparently aren't thinking about the future of their company, just making (stealing) money now. I bought a cruiser that arrived damaged. I followed their procedures for documenting and reporting it to them, but they pretty much pulled every trick in the book to avoid having to do anything to replace it. They made up stories, but I researched them and found out they were lying and called them on it. Then another story, etc... You know, I got a good price, but it wasn't worth it. I just ended up with a damaged bike, a lot of wasted time, and feeling like I was violated by robbers. Worst online experience ever! Bike arrived in what appeared to be a taped back together box. There were damaged parts, missing pieces, and assembly directions for a different bike. The rear tire blew out as soon as we attempted to ride. It took 6 weeks to get any resolve from this company, and we finally settled for some replacement parts and a $30.00 dollar credit (on a $500.00 bike) just to be done with it. Horrible customer service...we were told we must have done something wrong for the tire to blow out, and were told we could go to walmart and buy some nail polish to fix the numerous scratches on the bike. I can't comment on the product I ordered because I never received it. Worst customer service ever. They do not respond to e-mails and do not answer the phone. Trying to get help over the phone always yields the same result; you're told you're number 1 in the queue, and then you're asked to confirm that you requested a call-back. Then after confirming that (even tho not requested, just pushed into it), they never call back. Really frustrating. I won't lose any money, because I simply will not pay the credit card bill, but I certainly will not shop here again and can't recommend them to anyone else. Prices was good, service was horrible. I paid them $25 to assemble my bike. They assembled it alright, but they left all the plastic wrappings attached and screwed the bike together, going right through all the plastic wrapping!!! It took me HOURS to get all that crap off, and I had to disassemble my bike to do it! They refused a refund for the $25 assembly fee. I offered to accept the $25 in the form of store credit, because I liked their business and WANTED TO HELP THEIR BUSINESS by purchasing accessories from them, but they told me to BUZZ OFF! Do not purchase from their website. I placed my order 2 weeks ago for 3-4 day delivery and STILL have not received the bike I ordered. The status of my order continues to change; one day it is on hold, the next day it is being shipped WITH a tracking number and 5 days later it's on backorder. They are extremely unorganized and unprofessional. I've spoken to 3 online reps and every single one of them have been unapologetic and unhelpful only giving me the option of canceling the order completely. This was supposed to be a gift! This was not a cheap bike and I had it delivered from CA to NJ. It arrived with chipped paint, bent derailleur and fender. At first I was told to bend the derailleur back. Then in another email was advised to take it to a bike shop that specializes in 7-speed cruisers. I was willing to forgo the fender and paint if they just mailed a new derailleur. Since this was for my daughter, I was even willing to pay a bike shop install it. They told me they would not compensate me for anything and would not even replace the bent derailleur. I've had the bike for over 2 weeks with emails going back and forth. It's a lovely bike that my child cannot ride. It just sits inside the house like a white elephant. Don't bother with this company.
