The far end of the RV Park where a lot of long-term summer residents stay

Excellent RV Park for Seniors My husband and I spent three months (mid-June to mid-September 2019) at this RV Park in Flagstaff. We had a great time and highly recommend this age-restricted senior RV park. Before making our summer reservation, we visited about 6 other RV parks in Flagstaff. This was the best one. We had stayed here a couple night in 2018 in addition to summer 2019. J&H has many return long-term summer residents. We met people who had returned to this RV park 7 years in a row. Most long-term summer residents have been coming for several years. As a result people make friends with their neighbors. J&H rents on a nightly basis if space is available. This RV spot has roughly 50 spots. The sites are placed in an orderly fashion. This makes parking easier. There are back-in spaces and a lot of pull-through spaces. The RV Park is quiet. People respect quiet-time hours. There are no kids. On Sunday night in the summer JoAnne, Harvey and their daughter Angela offer a Sunday night pot luck. They provide hamburgers and hotdogs. Residents bring side dishes or a dessert. We sit at picnic tables in a community meeting area. The potluck begins with the Pledge of Allegiance, the saying of grace, and announcements. On Friday night there is a happy hour at a different outdoor meeting area with benches and a couple tables. Sometimes people bring snacks. There is a community meeting room with several tables. People reserve space in the room to play cards or mah jongg. This room is used for Friday happy hour if it is raining. One of the summer residents is a retired history professor. He gives monthly history lectures in the community room. Sometimes residents offer travel slide shows at night in the community room. There is an informal hiking club that goes on hikes twice a week. People organize group lunches or dinners to better Flagstaff restaurants. We were able to attend only one of these. We managed to visit the selected restaurants on other occasions; they were very good. An informal book club developed last summer. I went to one of the meetings and had a good time. Two of the J&H residents organized a group outing to Lowell Observatory. The couple arranged for us to hear a private lecture by one of the Lowell scientists. There is no swimming pool. J&H sells ice and ice cream bars, but does not really have a store. We usually shopped at the nearby Safeway and Office Depot. The Flagstaff Mall is nearby, and it has a movie theatre. I cannot recall everything about laundry facilities. In the office area there are probably 4 washers and 4 dryers. This office spot is not open late at night. I think there is another spot at J&H with a few more washers/dryers and extended hours. We normally went to a nearby Flagstaff laundromat where we could finish the laundry quicker. There is an outdoor fireplace but we never sat by it. The WIFI is free. It works best early in the morning and late at night. Our cellular phones worked fine with Verizon. The park closes for the winter season. The water, electric and sewage facilities worked fine. This RV Park is clean and well-maintained. This RV Park is on the far northeast side of Flagstaff, actually outside the city limits. The best nearby restaurant is the Horseman's Lodge Steakhouse (excellent food and a little pricey). We hope to stay at J&H RV Park whenever we bring our RV to Flagstaff.

Especially the RN's who work Labor & Delivery) The campground was covered in snow (February) and so I cannot comment about the showers/restrooms/laundromat, etc. as these services are not available in the winter. However, this just means more available spaces to park or camp (they have sites for tents, Campers, big 5th wheels with slide-outs and huge motor coaches they have new 50amp sites for with easy pull in access! Sites are big enough and signage is good. The one thing I would suggest is during the summer, they need to somehow mark the driving pathways so they can easily be distinguished from campsites when snowfall covers the ground. We accidentally drove thru some tent sites getting to our reserved 30amp space in the very back of the campground. No harm done - but my sweet hubby who was driving in was getting quite grumpy how awkward it was to park - only to later realize that if we would have followed the roadway, it would've made a lot more sense and been so much easier! Once we parked, Water and Electric hook ups were quite easy, and each site had a picnic table with plenty of room for parking we even had room at our site for an extra car to park. We thought we would only be there a couple of nights, but due to complications with the birth we ended up having to stay more nights and even asked for a late checkout, and both needs were met by office staff with such kindness and understanding. By the way, definitely make some time to shop around the store. Besides supporting your local community businesses, they have some excellent products for a VERY tasty charcuterie board, light lunch and snacks to take back to your campsite or pack up to go on a hike! My last comment is about marking your GPS coordinates if you are on any site at the back (closest to the brick wall) where the new 50amp and 30amp sites are. Apple Maps, Google Maps & Waze will all mark correct GPS coordinates, however, when you switch to an address, it will tell you that you are on the next street over as if you are one of the apartments on the other side, of the brick wall. In fact, even the sites across from our not up against the brick wall, still show an address using the street name "Pico Del Monte Circle" on the other side of the brick wall where the apartments are located. This is pretty important if you are using your location finder to give somebody else directions to where you are or using apps like Instacart or DoorDash. I did use DoorDash while we were there and the driver had to call and I had to explain how to get into the campground.. this has nothing to do with Woody Mountain Campground and everything to do with the map situation. I did report it to Apple and Google. Hopefully it will get fixed but as of today, i see that has not been fixed. (may 2026)

We stopped in for the Fall Festival where they had country swing dancing lessons, live music, wine and mead tasting, hot cider and chocolate, baked goods, a cute gift shop, and so much more! Cute back patio area and inside area where you can enjoy a beer, glass of wine, or some food. Gift shop had some awesome gift items, some a little pricey, but the Route 66 bar towel was the same price as it was on Amazon and the glasses were cheaper! So we had some fun, and I scored a gift for a friend! They have hosted summer events, so they are trying to host some fall and winter events, something that Flagstaff needs! Definitely returning for some winter fun!!

So glad we did! After several days of driving, hiking, and kayaking, it was really nice to finally sit down and enjoy a relaxing dinner. There's also a Native shop attached to the restaurant, which was fun to browse through before eating. The restaurant itself is toward the back, and the restrooms are conveniently located nearby, so I was able to freshen up and change before dinner after being outdoors all day. I ordered the deluxe cheeseburger combo, which totally hit the spot, while my friend got the beef stew with Native fry bread. I'll admit, I was a little jealous when I saw her dish because it looked so warm and comforting after the chilly weather and all the kayaking and hiking we had done earlier that day! Thankfully she let me try the fry bread, and it was delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food was great, and it ended up being the perfect way to wrap up our Arizona trip. Definitely recommend stopping here to fill up on gas and grab a good sit-down meal while passing through!

Still the food was good and I am glad we stopped.

Came racing up to our site loudly shouting that we were breaking City Code. Confused we were told we had to check out first thing in the morning. Making all the other campers aware around us. She treated us like we were trying to stay without paying. Yelling we were breaking city code for camping in our SUV. Not sleeping on the ground or in a tent. They should just clearly state on their website no Conversion vehicles.. So they don't lie about City Code. This is their Preference not Code. ( Which is their right ) But don't mislead people with your vague website. Then leave people to scramble in the middle of their vacation There's a copy of the Code below it's not illegal to camp in a car or tent or anything if it's within a private campground. THEY RESERVE THE RIGHT TO KICK YOU OUT IF AND WHEN THEY WANT TO. They get away with this treatment because of their location. They have a resort attitude. But mind you this park is old built in the 50's - 60's. Just patched up not renovated at all. If you like being treated rudely and have to be in your rig by 10pm not excuses. Run down moldy bathrooms. Then this is the place for you. Don't waste your time or money
