Every street-parking New Yorker's worst fear: a flat tire on alternate-side parking day! When a can of Fix-a-Flat failed to inflate my tire, I inquired at this nearby auto shop as to whether they might be able to assist. They let me borrow a tank of air, under the stern condition that I bring it right back. After filling up my tire, I brought the car to them and returned the air tank. A mechanic jacked up my car and removed the tire, identifying a puncturing screw as the culprit. After yanking out the foreign object he quickly patched the tire, then charged me a very reasonable amount of money for the work. It's hard to imagine a better outcome. I appreciate the empathy they showed for my plight and the trust they extended to me. Way cheaper than buying a new tire, and the speed of service was terrific. read more

This is a terrific gas station. Located at the end of Hicks Street, just off Hamilton, it's the perfect "fill-up" spot if you're in Carroll Gardens or surrounding neighborhoods. Full Service is offered for the same price that other stations charge for self service. Located on a small space, this approach allows for promptly handling customers with no vehicle chaos approaching and exiting the pumps. Owned by two brothers for 40 years, everyone is friendly. One brother pumped my gas the last time in. When I told him how wonderful they were, he replied that they liked to treat their customers right. Then he proceeded to tell me how long he & his brother had been in business. He was interested to learn I had found the station with Yelp, since others had told him the same. When told that he had great reviews but no picture, he was delighted to know that I had remedied that. He was immediately wanted to see the picture on my phone. What nice people & great service!! I return on a regular basis, even passing closer stations. read more

Complete liars! I took my car in for an annual emissions and safety inspection. They tell me I need new break pads AND new rotors - and quoted me almost $500. Mind you, my car is a 2016 model that has UNDER 20,000 miles. I told them 'no thanks', and they failed my inspection. I took my car into the dealership service center the very next day; the dealership said everything looked great, and I passed my inspection. Screw these guys. read more

Good, honest auto mechanics. I brought my Nissan here for the annual state inspection we all so enjoy, an oil change, and a couple of other small odd jobs. I brought my car in at 8am and the car was ready when I called to inquire about it at 5pm. They charged me a fair price for the work, figured out the minor issue I brought to their attention, and (most impressively) told me it wasn't a safety issue and didn't need to be dealt with unless I found it annoying (caused a slight rattle). I appreciate the honesty and will definitely continue to use them going forward. Subtracted one star because they didn't call me to let me know my car is ready like they said they would, but that's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I recommend this shop! read more

Went here for an inspection, and mentioned that my breaks were making a squeezing noise and asked if they could see what was wrong. they did the inspection, and told me the noise was most likely just dust and nothing to worry about, and fixing it would cost $300-$400 Well, soon enough, the brakes started making a grinding noise, so I took it elsewhere to get it looked at, and sure enough I had a $300 problem, which, might have been something that could have been fixed cheaper if the people at J&E were honest about the problem. read more

One of the few places I can take my car and feel confident I am not going to be taken for a ride. HAHA. Seriously though, I have been to J&E for oil changes and minor repairs to my car and the two guys that work here are always honest and charge me a reasonable price. They are also really quick. I usually get my car back the same day or early the next day if I drop it in the evening. read more

If your car is older than 15 years, then this is an OK Auto Service Station. If you just need an inspection, it's an OK Station. But these (lazy) guys know nothing about new motors - - and when I say new, any car built since 2000. They never get a repair done right the first time, It's always more than one visit - and each visit always costs you a little more. ALSO - Buyer Beware!! They have started selling used cars. They are typical used car dealers. I know (1st hand) of what they try to sell, and have sold. Go to another dealer. And certainly go to another mechanic. read more

I have resisted writing anything here because this is a neighborhood business and I like to frequent neighborhood businesses but they have left me no choice. I had a flat fixed here a year ago and then drove to DC the next week and as I was driving my whole wheel came off and bounced down the highway. Luckily my son and I were ok and a kind person stopped and helped us. When I came back to NYC and told one of the brothers who owns this business about what happened he was quite shocked and solicitous so I didnt review them badly but I just went there for a quick diagnositic and one of the nasty brothers was really nasty to me. Called me at work and just starts talking. I was in a meeting. Generally rude and I hate to say it had Fox TV on in his office constantly. The business is owned and run by a couple brothers -one is nice and a human beings -the other one or two will ruin their business with bad customer service. So besides the fact of them screwing up and almost killing me, being rude, their gas being expensive -I will not be returning and if you can I would recommend not going there. read more
