AMVETS Thrift Store…read more This is a review for my experience shopping and donating at the AMVETS (American Veterans) Thrift Store. I enjoy shopping and donating to AMVETS. All of their proceeds support our American heroes, so please visit this location. AMVETS, Dept. of CA Service Foundation - Visit: www.amvetscasf.org LOCATION: It is located in a complex across the street from the Winco grocery store. There are plenty of parking spaces. HOURS 9AM-7PM DONATION: Hours of Operation for Donations: Everyday 9AM-7PM Towards the back of the building is the donation area. They are pretty accepting of anything you'd like to give. I usually put them in a garbage bag and they sort it themselves. Very easy! They DO NOT take: Baby items Bed frames Food Printers ***Ask for a donation receipt, so you can file it with your taxes. SHOP: The store is organized pretty well. Clothes are organized by color. They have shoes, blankets, art, books, electronics, and house items. The aisles are wide enough to skim through clothing with a cart. Enjoy the treasure hunt! You can find great clothes and brand name items here. The prices are awesome too! I would say $10 or less for most clothing pieces. PRICE TAGS: ***If your item does not have a tag, they cannot sell it to you. Honor their store policy and respect the employees. SERVICE: The cashiers were friendly and efficient. *All in all if you enjoy thrifting and finding one of a kind fashion, I recommend shopping at AMVETS. Not only are you supporting the local community, but you are investing in our American Veterans as well! Happy Shopping!

WORST EXPERIENCE under the new management!! I've been shopping at Value Village for years and this…read morenew management is overpricing everything, used donated clothes more expensive than at a retail store. I took a jacket to the register priced at $4.98 and the woman at the register tells me "wrong price" "this new" "DKNY is $29.98 brand name" I'm trying to understand what she's telling me but she rips off the price tag, which is actually stapled to the garment, she crumples up the price tag and puts the jacket behind her. I told her that item is absolutely not new bc it looked used but she said "it's DKNY it's $29.98" at this time an older gentleman comes and tells me the prices seem high but everything is 50% off so I asked isn't that price gouging and then advertising 50% to attract customers but he wouldn't let me talk. Then I asked where is the profit going from this new management and he said "schools and churches" so I asked which ones and he told me "that's private and we cannot tell" at this time the cashier at the other register (a granddaughter I believe bc she kept trying to get his attention while he was talking to me calling him "babba" and something in another language I couldn't understand but she was basically trying to make him stop talking to me, so rude she could've said whatever she wanted in English so I could understand what she was saying but she chose not to) while I talked to the older gentleman she was butting in saying their prices are not high and that they price their items according to what they sell for ONLINE, I said well this is a THRIFT STORE and the items are donated so why are you going by online prices?? She rolled her eyes and started ringing up another customer. When I was exiting the store a woman told me "I'm glad you stood up to them, I can't believe their prices I'm never coming back" I told her I just wanted to understand why their prices are higher and where is the profit going bc maybe it's worth my while but their answers didn't seem satisfactory to me so I'm ALSO NEVER SHOPPING THERE AGAIN!! I also noticed they had racks full of brand new clothing from Costco and maybe Target, like the pallets of overstock or salvaged items that many "bin stores" have so I dunno if they're using the thrift store as a STORE FRONT for their own business of selling pallet items. I will take my business elsewhere. Not a true thrift store anymore, STAY AWAY!!! Ps. Also the nice older lady cashiers are gone as well and it seems all members of the same family run this "business" now
