The place is definitely larger than it looks. The restaurant is very unique in it's seating because of the robots that deliver your food! Yes..ROBOTS!!! I've always been suspect of the openness of rotary sushi, but everything is securely covered to prevent tampering. The food is color coded for price for the conveyor sushi, and there is a keyboard to order other meals. Those meals will be delivered by the robot trains!!! So Cool! We ate everything!!!! Saline was great, beer was cold! When the robot delivered our food, it stops, states your table number, then you grab your food. You HAVE to go here if you like sushi!! read more

We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. The place wasn't packed but still had a good number of people. We grabbed a few sushi rolls off the rotary belt, and they were pretty good. We also ordered hibachi, shrimp, hibachi, chicken, and sesame chicken--everything tasted great. The kids especially loved the robots, which made the experience even more fun. The ambiance felt welcoming and comfortable. Service was excellent--they were very attentive with refills and regularly checked in on us. read more

We loved it . It was different than any other restaurants . My favourite was ordering from the kitchen read more

Izumi Rotary and Bar - Japanese Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

LOVE the robot train! So cute. The ordering process is via an iPad and they have a good selection of sushi. We had yellowtail nigiri, seared white tuna, pink lady roll, Izumi roll, rainbow roll, Rte 66 roll, Alaskan roll, and Chesapeake roll. Our server was super nice and checked on us often. Lot of options on the sushi train. Cute mini desserts. The robot sometimes has a smilie face on the front which made us laugh. Fresh food and reasonably priced. read more

I am very aware of the popularity Izumi has been catching in Springfield but it just misses the mark a bit for me. To be fair, I am not overly impressed with most of the Asian cuisine in the Midwest, so I am sure my reviews are a bit on the strict side. The service was impeccable and the overall layout to the restaurant I actually found neat. My table of four loved watching the robot train go by and drop off food! And, the actual rotary belt of colorful dishes going round and round was fun to watch too. Where I become a bit haunted comes down to the food itself - my meal (brought out on the train) was bland and did not earn the price tag (lunch special price at that). The few items I tried off the rotary were okay but nothing I am running to tell the world about. Finally, the rotary worries me as we were eating lunch slowly and chatting (roughly an hour) and yet the same plates of sushi kept traveling around the rotary. How long do those plates sit before being swapped out with new food? Why is the rotary not chilled either on top or bottom? These two questions along with the general "meh" on taste simply earn Izumi the 3-star review! read more

Izumi Rotary and Bar - Grilled Chicken & Fried Rice - Japanese Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

First time at Izumi, delicious & fun!! Ordered Beef bulgogi bowl...very good!! Love the little robot that comes down the track with your order...so cute. Many plates of sushi off the rotary were devoured! Will go again soon! read more

Food is amazing, service is amazing and the vibe is so fun. We have been here SO many times. Food is always so good.

I've been looking for a better Sushi place and I think I've found it. Very impressed with the food, the gyoza were outstanding. I'll be back for sure. read more

Food was great and the service is good too I like the idea of the restaurant and the layout.

Obsessed. This place is so fun and everything is delicious and reasonably priced. I'm vegetarian and there were great vegetarian options, the fruit is fresh and amazing, the desserts are a perfect size, and the restaurant is cute and modern looking. The vegetable fried rice entree is amazing. This is a new go-to for us! The service (both people and the robots) is good. read more

Delicious. Service was great. Was a fun experience overall. Had a wide variety of deserts. Will be coming back.

So, I visited this place with my family. I had an absolute blast and I found it to be very affordable. With its many tables and bright lighting, it's definitely family friendly. While adults are recommended to sit near the conveyor, kids will definitely get a kick out of watching all the different foods run by. I think the trick to keeping this place family friendly and affordable is to not be so impulsive that you pull more food than you can eat. It's not customary to have food just roll pass you. From fruits, veggies, desserts, and noodles or sushi...it was all there just passing you by one after the other. It would be easy to just keep pulling what looks good because it all looks good.. Now, if you can get past the rotary bar you can order for your table, from your table via the an electronic kiosk and the rail bot that will deliver your food to your table. But you'd better be ready to receive it because it doesn't stop for long.. it's like a speed train bringing you a treat but if your hands are full or you delay, it's announced departures comes as quickly as it's announced arrival. We had three couples when we went and most of us had a beer or wine, some two, and I don't think any couple had a ticket over $45 for the two people per ticket event. There are also servers that take drink orders, answer questions etc. The service is kind and timely. Our server was very patient with our novice excitement. I'd definitely do this again. You can consider this place Victoria approved. If you can remember the Pokémon video game where they warred at the rotary sushi bar...then you can imagine how I looked... Tongue out and watering over everything. Check it out! Check out Izumi's Rotary and Bar. read more

The concept is cool, the staff were beyond helpful, but the food was below meh. My granddaughters loved it because of revolving food going by the table and the robot delivering entrees. But no one really ate at our table; even the granddaughters picked at their food. Hubby got the sesame chicken which was NOT fresh, and I got the Izumi fried rice and couldn't eat it. Unfortunate experience. Will not return. read more

Conveyor Belt Sushi Magic in Springfield! After a long week, we decided to treat ourselves to some sushi -- and I'm so glad we chose this spot! Hands down, our favorite stop while in Springfield. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, the vibe was spot-on, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The conveyor belt concept was such a fun touch! We grabbed a few rolls as they passed by and also ordered some fresh to the table -- every bite was incredible. Fresh, flavorful, and a fun dining experience all around. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town! read more

This place was pretty good given the rotary sushi concept. I usually find ordering from the menu gets me exactly what I want, while displaying items on the belt I might not usually think about, especially something sweet at the end. About anything you want, plus the tuna, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi were as fresh as possible. I will be back next time we are in Spfd. A nice option. read more

This place just opened up and we are so happy we went. It easily takes the trophy for best Golden California Rolls in town. This is a Japanese style restaurant where sushi and other things travel around on a belt by the tables. You just grab what you want. You can also order from a tablet and little robot things come to your table and stop with your food when it's done. The kids loved it and all of the food was amazing. We will definitely be coming back. read more

The staff was friendly and the experience was neat for Springfield but the food was just OK. Nice to try but not sure it's a repeat.

This place was so much fun! Great food and the rotary bar and robot delivery train were absolutely charming. We will be coming back! read more

Very fun sushi rotary. Excellent quality, service and cleanliness...and not as expensive as I would have thought. Will be traveling the hour to go back as often as I can. read more

Nice atmosphere friendly staff was waited on immediately. Food was brought out in a fastly time. I would give the food at 8+ sushi wasn't as cold as what I would have liked. Fried rice was great. I will visit again soon. read more

Went here with a large group of friends! The food is fresh. I've been missing sushi so much. It's hard to find in the Midwest, and I was surprised at the options of fish and desserts Izumi offered. The alcohol selection is great too! Our server was sweet and prompt. If you're in a large group, pls pls tell the server you want separate checks in the beginning so it's easier for them to split. I can't wait to be back! read more

Infinite sushi flying at your face is nice and I want these types of places to succeed but i failed to find anything that WOWed me. All the sushi was very mid tier. I ordered chicken katsu and it was very filling but for the price I would expect it to be. Left feeling happy I went but not sure if I'll go again read more

Fun gimmick but doesn't account for poor quality food and lack of service and hospitality. Entertaining for a one time experience but see no reason to return. read more

Our first time here and it did not disappoint! We had a 30 minute wait to be seated and when we got there it was packed. Every worker was very kind and working hard. It would have been nice to have been told how it worked as we were seated but it we figured it out. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely order something off the menu so you can have the robot experience :) read more

Izumi Rotary and Bar - The little robot :) - Japanese Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Not great! I try not to compare to what I have had in Japan. Ordered the lunch special with three plates and fried rice. The fried rice was hot but it was rice covered in soy sauce. Then I waited for my favorite sushi blue fin tuna. It was sometime before that came around but if I wanted a dessert I would have finished before the sushi came around. When the tuna did come it appeared good, but it smelled like it tasted again not good. As for the service there was no one there and I got a table quick. I may have not said this but when my drink came it was on the otherwise of the table. Just not the best experience and I will not be going back. read more

Izumi Rotary and Bar - Fried rice and a price of tuna I can't eat. - Japanese Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

The sushi was amazing and I was able to try new things! Love the robot that brings food to your table on the upper belt. Saw some options when we were getting ready to leave that weren't on the belt while we were eating. Loved the atmosphere. Very nice would dine there again! Didn't take pictures of everything I ate: the eel thing pictured was an odd texture, shrimp tempura rolls were great (I'm a shrimp fan though), the umami steak/ribeye (I forget the exact name) was my absolute favorite though. read more

It's new and clean. Your food is on a food belt and you take whatever you want. Plus they have a menu. Order at your table and a robot brings your food. You do have a waitress. Different but a bit pricey! read more

No complaints. The food and the service is always great! My son absolutely loves coming here!

Quiet a variety of sushi to choose from. Other food can be ordered via a digital menu. Plates are color-coded to indicate price. My five year old grandson enjoyed selecting food off the conveyor belt and delivery of additional items on a small Japanese bullet train. read more

Amazing service! Great food super quick. definitely a big recommendation and was a great send off before going to basic!!

Kinda disappointed. Some of the things you can order to go are not on the menu for dine in. Really needs to be an option to order the larger portions of sushi while dining inside. Spent $60 for 4 people and left hungry. The Tuna Tataki looked much bigger in the picture than the small pieces I received. While it was good I should have just went to Sam's Club or Harvest Market for sushi for the price I paid. read more

We found this our new go to spot for a fun, quick lunch or going out with friends! The sushi and other dishes (including fun desserts) on the rotary conveyor belt were really good. If you order food from the tablet on your table, it is sent by a cute little robot tram. Can't wait to come back! read more
