They have a variety of different items on the menu from cod, salmon, halibut, clams, shrimp, scallops, oysters, chicken and more. Ivars is my moms go to if me and my brother don't care what to eat. We got the full boat of Cajun cod w/ chips + two cups of white clam chowder + two cole slaw. The Cajun cod isn't to spicy, I highly recommend it. My family enjoyed ivers. My parents just loved to take the family to iver's Seafood Bar Seattle Waterfront Pier. They have since passed and I have carried on the tradition and I have taken my kids to Ivers since I moved into advance in 2004. My son and daughter loves the ivers fish and chips, and most of all the clam chowder her. My wife always orders ivers clam chowder it on the Kingston Edmonds ferry ride. Just recently my wife, daughter, and I order dinner from Ivers in Edmonds. My 19 year old daughter took a picture of her Iver's clam chowder in a sourdough bowl and sent it to her 21 year old brother in the army station in Tennessee to remind him what he is missing. So, back in the day, when I worked for this fine LOCAL restaurant chain, I was stationed here a few times, whenever they needed an extra manager or two. The location has been remodeled and they've brought in some of the "original" theme from the now long gone Captain's Table with them, i.e. old b&w photos of Ivar, yes kiddies, there really was once a man named Ivar and yes he once did his own TV commercials, *ahem*, and attempted to sing, with his *ahem*, "mother." And a few seafaring types of knick-knacks. This is fast-food, and here they do it up just fine. The still use the original recipes, hand cut their fish and the chowder is still one of my favs, should I ever eat chowder again. After 13 years of that stuff, it still runs through my veins, I don't really eat "chowder" of any sort anymore.... Personally, I like their new "English" style F&C's, nice thick and flat cut pieces of fish, True-cod, never fake!! I think most of the poor reviews are out of date. Service is quick enough, I think the old people should go first. Portions of fried dishes are not huge on account of this food is not the most healthy for anybody, it's seafood, expect to pay a little more. People with huge appetites should consider this a snack, or buy two and quit bitch'in. The girls running the show today have got their s#*t together, polite, efficient, outgoing, and very accomodating. Placing an order is quick and easy @ the counter, grab some tartar and drink, seat yourself @ any of the tables, all clean from what I've seen, wait time for me has been minimal, I'd say 5-7 min. Yes a few years ago I was disappointed here, NOT NO MORE! I feel I can recommend this place today as I can tell everything has changed for the better, see you soon. read more

Ordered cajun cod, 5 piece & was a little soggy on the fish. Good flavor but biggest complaint was mentioned earlier regarding the size of the fish. They were dinky, small pieces looking more like tiny fish sticks. WTF Ivars is that all about? Been eating at Ivars for over 20ys & have NEVER seen their fish pieces so small. Had a very nice and fresh fish & chip dinner. The fish was cooked perfectly and the fries were hot & crispy. Ivar's prices are compatible to some sit down restaurants but the quality is excellent & food is better than many. I don't mind paying for good food so I'm glad I made the trip. read more

Oh Ivar, you broke my heart. I'd been looking forward to being with you all week, especially after I went out with Anthony's earlier last week and felt like ditching him mid-meal. Ivar's, what happened? When did you become nothing more than a McDonalds for the fish crowd? I am so devastated. We've had a long relationship, you and I. But I'm just not sure if I'm prepared to keep this up. I think I may want a divorce. My fish was tiny, like a fat French Fry, tiny. But there was more that was really, really bad. The taste. Gosh Ivar, have you changed the oil you fry your fish in for the last... I don't know, 2 years? Sadly, the fish tasted like ancient oil that went rancid sometime back in the last decade. Oh, but there's more. I ordered coleslaw instead of fries. Uh Ivar, dear, just a little suggestion. When you make coleslaw a good recipe has more than just grated cabbage with a watery teaspoon or so of mayo thrown in. Your coleslaw was bland, boring, tasteless and worthless. That leads me to the Manhattan Clam Chowder. I understand Ivar, when you've compromised on everything else, opening a can of soup and warming it up just seems like a natural thing to do. It was awful. I ate a bite, couldn't believe how bad it was, so I took another bite, then realized, no, it was as bad as I thought. I couldn't put my taste buds through that again, so there it sat, uneaten, rejected, and cold. It's your fault Ivar, not mine. What a terrible experience. Why Oh Why Did You Change?!! Knocking some stars off for a few reasons. One the advertised hours say they are open til 10 on a Friday online. We tried to visit the other night at 9:15 and missed them apparently they closed at 9 on a Friday. No big deal. Came back today. Called in my order and said I'd be back there in 8-10 minutes. This would've been prefect timing but I had to run to the store. I took maybe 5 mins at the store down the street right next door, thinking my order would be ready when I got there it wasn't. Someone else had an order for Uber eats so they just bagged up my item and gave it to them. Same exact order. The two people working I didn't get their names.: said it would be a little longer. That's fine I waited. So basically a 10 min order turned into 15-20 mins total time after I placed the call. I will say the chowder was awesome and piping hot however unless you ask for crackers like 2-3 times they'll forget. I had to ask for it twice since there were none ever tossed in for chowder. The real blunder of the evening was when I got home I bit into the chicken and it was pink and fleshy in the middle. It was undercooked. 2 out of 3 pieces were completely un edible. My fiancée and I both have had food handlers permits from previous jobs and we both know what uncooked chicken looks like and can make you really sick. My other issue was that it tasted like fish. I know you guys will say well you went to a fish place. I only get 2 things from here. Chowder and chicken cause they are both good. I saved the pink fleshy pieces and bagged them up with the receipt. I called the restaurant and the manager was very apologetic. He even offered me a free meal. I really don't care if I get one or not I just want them to know that this is really unsafe/ I'd rather just have my money refunded for that part of the meal. 1 small chowder one large drink and one chicken and chips was 17.59$ almost a i 18$. I just hope they stick to their commitments because I am coming back tomorrow to bring them the chicken pieces. Basically my dinner was fries and chowder. I would've loved chicken with it but only one teeny tiny piece was edible. Update : 3/25/21../ came in and the manager not only replaced the meal he also replaced the chowder too which I didn't expect but was generous. He also tossed in extra chicken. Fell in love with the clam chowder at Ivar's Salmon House by Lake Union so decided to go here for a quick fix. Thank goodness it's so close! Got the clam chowder in a bread bowl. So good and filling! Sourdough bread is so soft on the inside and tough enough of an outside to hold the creamy chowder. Had the jumbo prawns with onion rings. It was so so. Friday, November 1st, we stopped at this usually delicious Ivars for dinner on our way to Leavenworth. There were four of us. Two ordered three-piece cod baskets, one ordered a medium cup of chowder, and I ordered a bread bowl. The two orders of cod we're delivered looking like fish sticks. When the staff was asked why they are such a small staff replied its how Incut them. They were more breading than fish. Yuck! The medium cup of chowder came out as the most miniature cup, and when staff was asked to make it right, they delivered three Andes chocolate minibars. The bread owl seemed to be their best item that night until halfway through. There were slips of paper embedded into soup and bread on inside of bowl. Gross!!! We won't stop here again. I always stop by Ivar's whenever I'm in Seattle, and honestly didn't know they had any other locations aside from the one by the pier. Anyway, this location isn't the same as the one on the boardwalk, but it's the same great food! I got the seafood combo n chips, which was a good mix of fish, clams, and baby prawns. I could barely eat any fries after I got through the seafood, this is definitely a lot of food! It's obligatory to add on the amazingly delicious clam chowder, as well. Everything you'd want and expect from fast seafood. Ivar's has really set the standard for fish and chips and clam chowder in the northwest, whether it's fast food chains like this one or the sit-down restaurants in Mukilteo and Seattle. My family usually orders a full boat (10 pieces of fish, 1 large chowder, 2 coleslaw) to go and feeds a family of three quite nicely. The price has gone up a couple bucks since we started ordering it many years ago but is still a great value. The fried calamari rings (sleeper alert!) are also delicious! The staff is always efficient and professional. They try to get your order up quickly and accurately. I appreciate that the table tops and sauce bar are usually very clean and orderly. Well after trying Ivars yesterday and was very very disappointed I went to RAYS in Everett. Night and day difference, their fries were great and the fish included were FOUR huge filets. One of RAYS fish filets equals FOUR of Ivors french fry sized filets and were better cooked and the fries were some of the best I ever had. I decided to taste test their signature soups, see below for review on each : WHITE CLAM CHOWDER - nice texture, big clamp & potato pieces, overall taste wasn't fishy or weird like some chowders can be. RED CLAM CHOWDER - I gave it 2 stars because it didn't make me sick. Color was bad and overall taste was as well. Red clamp chowder is best served and made on the east coast. SALMON CHOWDER - This was a very pleasant surprise after trying that red chowder. The color was beautiful, taste was on point and little spice perfect amount and large pieces. I would definitely recommend this one if I had to choose. Their saltine crackers were also REALLY GREAT (surprisingly) I usually throw them away but since they were not the usual brand I tried them and ate all of the packets I received by the end of my trip. I've been a fan of Ivar's since I was young. I have great memories of getting Ivar's from the Pier and eating it outside on the waterfront. This Ivar's is minimal but clean. The food is tasty and they obviously make everything fresh. My fries and chicken strips were piping hot and the service was very friendly. The chowder is always good and at $5.50/bowl I can get two meals out of it. This is a great place to stop on the way home from the Edmonds ferry! read more

Nevermind that I substitute a side caesar salad for the fries. FYI: You can substitute a side caesar salad for the fries :) Unlike a typical fast food restaurant, the staff here is pretty consistent. What is it about Ivar's that makes it so darn good. I swear they put crack in it because I always leave wanting more. This is a great location with a fast and friendly staff. Every time I come in the staff always looks very happy and they know how to make their job fun. That's the way it should be. They do a great job in keeping the place clean and organized. I hate it when I go into a restaurant and see food scraps all over the table and floor. But here I don't have to worry about that, unless they are busy and understaffed. Whenever I have a hanchoring for fish and chips this is the place I go to whether I sit in and eat or take it home. My favorite is the three piece cod and chips Cajun style with a delicious bowl of creamy chowder. I cant get enough of the chowder, it has great flavor and there are great chunks of clam in every bite. You cannot go wrong with that. I also enjoy the clams and chips, another yummy choice. This Ivar's was the most well run and friendliest Ivar's I've been to. We were welcomed when we arrived, and our food was quickly brought out to our table. A server even checked on us mid-meal! We got the "Big Boat" combo to share. It's more than enough food for 2, including 10 pieces of fish, fries, a bowl of chowder, and 2 slaws. This location is in a great place on the way to downtown Edmonds. It's very close to my apartment, which is much appreciated. My best memory of this location is going in to get our theme-appropriate fish dinners in preparation for the Lost series finale. Disappointed with the online order process. There was no obvious opportunity to make requests for sauce options. For the expense (extremely high) you should be able to select what sauce and how many.
